not only that, but the Tibetan writing system is well preserved in China, along with Han Chinese developed Tibetan writing computer input method, whereas the exiled folks lost it until the 1990's, when their CIA bosses figured it would be better to help support exiles with reinstating Tibetan writing education. I've friends who have even bought human skulls from Tibetan merchants, while "officially banned", it's available. Other stuff too :) Long live the Tibet Autonomous Region of China.

The point is that the Olympics are supposed to represent freedom and peace, something China has been refusing Tibet and Taiwan for decades. The platform of the host nation must meet the platform of the IOC. If the games were only about, what you say, "glory" then no one would care; however, the games have come to be a symbol of unification of humananity and culture - something China doesn't believe in.
