  • Why do they expand. What is the difference between one that grows and one that doesn't? Didn't really like that video I'm afraid.

  • is this part of loop quantum gravity?

  • world starts from bubble? a likely story!

  • time cannot boil as time is a numerical sequence of material change.....

  • SMART

  • math only describe behavior of something. what ever its similar to a boiling effect a fourth state of matter as hot plasma or cold electrified plasma does not make much difference. as we see the large structures of the universe behave as plasma there very logical the the microscopic and macroscopic universe also behave as plasma.

most likely its all plasma the whole universe.

  • @DowntownCrony During your dream state don't you create totally different universes? And why should those universes have to destroy "ours?"

  • I found what seems to be a description of the same thing as Hagelin is talking about starting from 2:20, in the Yoga Vasistha, book 3, ch. 40, verse 30:

"All the worlds are either of a longer or shorter duration, and they appear and disappear at times; some of these vanish in a moment, and others endure to the end of a Kalpa." (a Kalpa is defined as 4.32 billion years in the Vedic literature)

  • this teaching makes good sense.

  • space-time is 4D, time is numerical order of change in a 4D space

  • um, how dose he know that a space-foam bubble created the universe? I'd like to know what experiment(s) would verify this claim

  • Our universe creates its own space filled time. Maybe for each (to us) short lived universe it has existed in its own right equivalent to the life of this universe

  • fascinating and funny!

  • i totally get it. It's what i always thought.

  • LOL @ 0:34

  • Saying that this is how our universe came into being is an empty claim.

1.) The creation of our universe, if it really was created from a big bang (see big bounce scenario for an alternative), was the creation not only of the space we live in, but also of time. Therefor the question "what was before the big bang" in itself is problematic, since it carries the word "before" which does not have a clear meaning in this context.

  • space foam doesn't have that much energy but interesting.

    smaller universes within spacefoam?

  • what did it bubble off ..eh?

  • I want a job traveling through time =)

  • mikee1911, meditate some more, go outside and look at the clouds, maybe in a few years you might understand, but for know it's best that you say nothing, because what you have to say has no thought behind it.

  • @goodforthemoney You must have meant, "but for now".

  • I love him and could listen to him all day long if I could afford it.That voice is so soothing and I am sure he as a beautiful mind........ just a lttle beyond my ken:-)..

  • I discovered Dr.John Hagelin several years ago and I still don't know what he's talking about or if it is for real ,but I tell you what he is such a lovely man and I like the sound of his voice so much I could listen to him forever.*smile*!He's a good man.

  • 1st off hoinky, this video is about the EXISTANCE OF EVERYTHING so any religious posts arent irrelevent. 2nd for all the ppl cappin on religion: it only took science centuries to confrim wat religion alredy had known from the begining. u call it the unified field, they call it God or Allah or watever. they rely on faith and u needed scientific proof. go tell a buddist about ur discovery of the unified field theyd probly say "took u long enough"

  • Thank you gosh I really wanted to go to that Maharishi university but am now in anesthesia school thanks for the video

  • I assure you, nothing this intelligent and complex could ever be adopted by something as nonsensical as religion..

  • I would urge to visit the works of Nagarjuna or Shankara on the matter of "complexity" or the "nonsensical" in religion. Much of enthusiasm which Hagelin displays is no doubt driven by the apparent compatibility between Quantum Mechanics, and the philosophical basis for Mahrishi's teachings, Advaita Vedanta. The physics in some sense merely blusters the soteriological assertion (the possibility of enlightenment) made by this earlier system.

  • @theblackcomp111 you are really funny!LOL.

  • It's interesting to note that he says that the universe is virtually infinite in its dynamism, yet places a finite number of universes that are created per second.

THERE IS NO SUCH THING AS SPACE OR TIME!!

They are merely arbitrary designations for things that we have a limited understanding of, and in truth, don't really exist. All reality is an infinite spectrum of harmonic frequency relationships, all interconnected based on those very principles of harmonics. Therefore, it's infinite!!

  • "That's just how our Universe started, as a little bubble..." lol, He doesn't look that old... But I agree, it had a beginning. To God be the glory, great things He has done.

  • why are there so many irrelevant religious posts?

  • Interesting video. I wasn't familiar with this concept.

  • He describes quantum foam & the fuzziness of our reality very well.

  • The Buddha gave us the Eight Fold Path as a set of conducts. If everyone practicesd it faithfully the world would be a nirvana place to be. What a normal person can do is to practice the right concentration in everything they do in their normal life. This practice will lead them to right meditation. The deep meditation is for Arahats to practice (in many lives) to get to the level of a Bodhisattva , a Buddha, and it ain't easy to do.

  • The historic Buddha Dharma said there are multi, uncountable, invisible to human eyes universes, nebulas, stars....like sands in the Ganges river.

  • honhanguyen :

Buddha got his ideas from the Vedas. He was a prince in a Vedic kingdom, and was raised by Brahmin priests. These concepts have always been known, and John Hagelin is a proponent of the enlightened buddhi (enlightened intellect.) which is where the word 'Buddha' comes from.

  • i have been working on the plancs distance for about twenty five yearsnow

in highschool i wrote apaper on it for english showing that the fundemental

forces of nature r simple an observable fact of an underliging truth..

the summarry was that modern quantum physics has to look at the guts qwest from a radical different point of vue

in the paper i explained things like

manifolds and fabrics and strings and

vibrations. idiscussed mickalson and morely. einstien and newton.

  • The Historic Buddhas has taught all along. It's time to study the Buddha Dharma.

  • Let me try and say this in other words...the more simple, the more powerful ...Love is most simple and in fact most powerful.

  • The hand of God

  • the breath of god

    simply jug band logic

one string plucked has many tunes

    such is the universe

one fabric different densities many tunes

know your string know the tune

matter is no string energy is vibrating string since our dna evoled from the demonstratable knowledge of the string our dna or life itself being the universe come self awair very likly has access to

the unknown truths and abilities of father

    spacetime

  • other universes are just nothing more than posibilities we shift trough universes by everyday by chosing our own paths..

  • Outstanding! Why doesnt he have more books on this topic? He speaks from the heart, from an intuitive level. Thats why he sounds so 'matter-of-fact". I dont care just as long as he keeps teaching these ideas. If humanity were studying at this level "world peace" would simply manifest because we would all have to stop fighting in order to grasp it...LOL

  • What i find compelling is the idea that a century from now, what John Hagelin says may be completely replaced by a new, mind boggling explanation. We have to be humble and remind ourselves that we are only scratching the surface of what we can know about the nature of the universe.

  • Why does John Hagelin tell all this theory as if it is the truth and the only truth. It is just a theory... The fact that he does so makes me less convinced that John Hagelin is still a respectable scientist and not just a Transcendental Meditation guru...

  • oh. my. god.

    amazing.

  • i reckon

  • Awesome ! Loved it thanks ! Next question ...

How much space/time is there and will it continue to effervesce or is it a finit source ? :)

  • this is in the bible

  • can you offer a further explanation of the statement you have offered? perhaps point to specific places in the bible...

  • @SoundsOfHarmony the bible is irrelevant fiction. next question please......

  • @rbloch66 if the biblke is irrelevent fiction why have they found most of the cities listed in the bible? why have they managed to prove that some of the people in it existed? clearly the bible does have some truth to it and is a scource of history. you dont have to beleive in god to see that even the bible tells us important information.

  • hahaha good joke.

  • Macrobiology?

  • Comment removed

  • it is a common idea now that there is more than one universe, research multiverses.

  • Fascinating! Thankyou :)

  • I don't think one needs to have matriculated a high level of math to comprehend Dr. Hagelin's lectures and I doubt seriously that that it would be all that much of a help. Theoretical Physics is more having the capacity for thinking perhaps a little abstract with an open mind. I am a hillbilly lawyer from Southeastern Oklahoma who ate a great number of paint chips when I was young. A degree in mathematics does not give one a greater propensity for understanding, that is arrogant & pretentious

  • Where can I watch a complete video?

  • Go to Maharishi University's website (link is in "Description" to the right of the video) and search for "Hagelin DVD." One of the top results will be "request a DVD", and that's what you want.

  • my God if we manage to exploit even greater forces than nuclear energy i am very very afraid for the future of humanity :(

  • i've noticed that many ancient text's speak in code...perhaps the fact that Christs age, the age (33 years) at which he acends and greets god (or in this case, the Unified field)corospeonds to the plank scale is telling of something...what say you?

  • Please don't bring god up in an intelligent conversation. Thanks. With that being said you idea should be published at the creationist museum, I'm sure they'll love it.

  • i think an intelligent conversation doesnt put a veto in any subject to discuss, what john hagelin referst to as "unified field" is *consciousness* said by him in many interviews, some call it "nature", some others call it "God", some others simply call it "energy".. and many others call it X amount of different names, however, they all r reffering to the same thing, therefore they are all true.. just different levels of truth..different points of view of the same thing.. of us ... bye

  • @creamsykle who are you talking to?

  • @lookatmepleasesir God knows.... :)

  • @creamsykle Ironically the findings of Dr John Hagelin and his peers, with the discovery of the Unified Field etc seem to say the opposite.

Of course "creationism" is not science, and is wrong. But what Dr Hagelin is saying is scientific and proven science.

    regards

  • @creamsykle Interestingly, Dr Hagelin does exactly that, all the time.....especially in the context of the subject matter of the video.

    regards

  • @creamsykle What if the concept of "god" is the result of human consciousness's intertwined nature with the fundamental, universal, and "conscious" foundation of universal law? What if quantum physics is saying some of the same things in a less politically motivated language (religion)? Please take your intellectual self righteousness and close-mindedness elsewhere.

  • hey eziekiel9989: i'd say there are lots of codes in our human history dramas, numbers, etc...esp. in the ancient stories of the world. many of which are borrowed from even older stories & so on. check out nassim haramein. you'll notice lots of numbers/math & geometry mentioned that correlates to much of this kind of thing. i have a playlist of some of his work/interviews if you want a hands free listen. (o:

  • This is perhaps all coincidence but Christ died when he was 33.the plank scale is 10 to the -33rd. i am a firm believer that the bible has been diluted with human tinkering but i also believe that within the despicable manipulations lie some fundamentally beautiful messages.

  • the only problem is they screwed up, plank scale is actually 10 to the -43, look it up on an actual site not youtube

  • I checked it on Wikipedia. Planck's Constant is 6.6 x 10 to -34 Joule sec, which rounds up to 10 to -33

  • The moment I see men comfortable in their towers of understanding and knowledge and their mathematical foundation descriptions of this complex universe then I realize that we must be on the verge of a more fundamental discovery which will bring it all down again so that in humility we may begin to rebuild.

  • space time has always had diverse psychological natures, the male-ability of time foam presents within a multi-duplicate of potential in envelope situations, mainly can time foam form a sort of(or be use by) a referencing series as time foams that would create a matrix for this type of theoretical energy. As a time space or time energy component.

  • how can "space/time... boil" when quantum physics clearly sais space/time doesn't exist? so what boild then, if not the foaming nonsense within?

  • That's what Dr. Hagelin explains in this video. It's a pretty abstract concept. You have to be able to understand high-level math to really comprehend it.

  • i am very sufficient in high level math, thank you; so, math does not prove space/time;

    what math proves, however is the logical procession built on a preconceptualized "given"; the problem is, this "Given", (space/time), is not really given as it does not really exist; Bertrand Russel (author of Principia Mathematica) has pointed this out long ago; therefore, any discussion basing itself on the beginning/end of space/time is utterly meaningless;

  • Vision, touch, hearing, and spacial perception depend on time for their perception. We created our useful model of the 3D world from the embedded time form in space. There is no space without time. No way to measure or perceive scale and this is a fact about our world. This concept is echoed (pun intended) by the fact that resonant frequency and scalar size are inversely proportional.

  • @AlphaSigma10 it´s a paradox, althougth your question is interesting.

MY Opinion: space/time does not exist in the other dimensions, but in this dimension exist, so his trying to explain how it works in this dimension/reality. Both possible/impossible; existable/non-existable.

  • The day america votes for someone like this for president is the day they begin living in Utopida. Unfortunately, they keep voting in idiots like Bush instead. Sad.

  • greatest 3:25 min on youtube.

  • Dumb question but presumably this creation of new Universes is going on 'outside' the bubble of our own Universe? If so that kind of answers some questions about whats 'Out there', outside of the Universe. Hard to visualise though.. Am I just talking rubbish here?

  • i believe the universe is expanding and retracting at the same time to keep everything in a sense of some balance

  • Physicists have already calculated the rate of expansion of the universe and that the rate of this expansion is slowing down, hence the big bang theory which predicts that this expansion will eventually stop and then reverse it's direction towards singularity. This complies with the age-old the notion of a pulsating (or oscillating) universe!

  • Really? Other people are saying it's speeding up.

  • Please also Check "Rumi" by coleman. you don't have to go far to see end of the world. thats how much god is close to us.

    thank you for sharing.

  • I loved his topics in "What the Bleep?//*!"....really like this man.

  • can our universe still be growing? and in comparison to the universe outside of ours be nothing but a tiny winy boiling bubble . . if so would we be closer to the fundamental composites of nature than those outside our universe or would anything be the same outside our "bubble" hmmm CAN we know this?

  • why is it the end of space/time. what if it's really the beginning? How would that look?

  • It depends on your direction of approach. If your starting point is the unified field which transcends space/time then you may call it the beginning. But if your starting point is from the level of gross matter towards subatomic particles and ultimately the unified field then you will eventually encounter the end of space/time.

  • How far down before we reach String?

  • acually thats a really good question

The String theory is accually a different way of explainning space/time foam.

Instead of this boiling affect you get little vibrating strings.

so space/time foam and the string theory are two different theories to explain "winsy tinsy"

  • When string theorists discuss strings,

they usually go from quarks to strings,

but this is usually more for the sake of simplicity.

    There's an in-between the two.

  • are you sure about Heisenberg's priciple of uncertainty? I thought it was his principle of indeterminability which is not at all the same thing. But then again, it's easier to say uncertainty.

  • quantum foam

  • Fascinating lecture

    ////////

Agreed. Its so good to witness these guys operating at the cutting-edge of human evolution

  • excellent

  • The spacetime foam would slow high-energy photons- X rays and gamma rays - more than lower energy photons. That variation in C would violate Lorentz invariance. Extragalactic blazars emit G-rays which collide with infrared photons, cx'ing the G-rays and IR photons. Their energy is converted to mass: electrons and positrons. Lorentz invariance thus appears not violated.

  • My mind gets so tired just trying to comprehend all these, meaning I aint bright enough. I accept it without much question, after all the smart physicist said so, with all the higher math.

  • That's the great thing about TM -- all this information is interesting, but you don't need it in order to transcend! You just learn the technique from a qualified teacher and it works. And then as time goes on you find that you're understanding more and more.

  • Don't worry, the big problem is the maths system we use which simply is too basic to express these concepts. Ultimately that is the limit on 'human'.

  • Old post but no, you ARE bright enough.. The simple fact you even think about stuff like this means you are a smart little bunny! :)

  • to be aware is a skill.

  • dimensions

  • If you understand Nature at it's deepest level, you understand where you came from...I'm going to hear Hagelin and David Lynch in Iowa in May...

  • Second question: I know that the probability of another universe coming into existence permanently is miniscule, but if there are as many as he states in every cubic cm of space every second then wouldn't one have made been noticeable by now?

  • humans are almost blind to what there is to see, ever wonder why your dog barks into thin air, or pigeons find there way home.

  • Not really, dogs bark in thin air because they're dogs and not all that smart, pigeons find their way home through a variety of ways, apparently including the earths magnetic field... Mother nature can be ironic, eh?

  • no, like he said they form and disappear so quickly. I have never heard this before, but i find it fascinating. Funny thing is, that was always my theory (obviously not in such quantified scientific perspective.) But that there are plenty of universes...

  • Well how would reach this second universe? There's a lot of distance to cover, not to mention the questionable notion of what seperates the two Universes.

  • Didn't he just point out that there are different levels of realities (or existence) and that even the atomic realm is a universe in it's own right as is a galactic universe?

  • Two questions:

1- Saying that the energy levels increase as you approach smaller scales (e.g chemical reactions compared to nuclear) seems to be against E=Mc2. Nuclear reactions release almost the full potential energy from the mass of the particle into light, heat and alpha/beta particles. Once the mass has been converted to energy that is as efficient as it gets so simply having less matter means less energy doesn't it?

  • You answered your own question :) "Nuclear reactions release the full potential energy" I would assume that chemical reactions are less efficient.

  • not if you could tap into the enegry of an infanent number of universes maybe

  • Couterpoint-

Which one of you has a degree in quantum physics and which one doesn't?

    I THOUGHT SO!

  • Thats really interesting. Im curious to know how the bubbling or space time leads to tangeble matter (and even how all that tangeble matter gets crammed into the singularity at the beggining of the universe).

  • Well, here's your chance to ask -- 2007 Daivd Lynch Weekend is May 25-27. There's info about it up above, to the right of the video screen.

  • The source of tangible matter is a superposition of (infinite) waves leading to the formation of wave packets.

  • Wonderful!! So if you keep getting smaller until you reach the "Is-ness of the Zero naught Zero", you will find the source of infinite power? :)

  • Absolutely. This source is the sea of infinite pure consciousness with infinite dynamism.

  • what in the name of "space foam" is the proof of this. or is it too "weensy teensy" to explain? I understand there are principles and logical theoretical conclusions from these "principles".

But where does this reasoning start.

Maybe i am asking this question in the wrong place, i need to talk to this guy.

  • It takes a lot of high-level mathematics to understand the exact details. But there's a great book called "The Elegant Universe" that explains quantum physics for the layperson, you might want to read that.

  • So then if a bomb were made of the components that are elements of the nucleolus and it were detonated it would never stop exploding?

  • we cant manipulate with such small elements

  • Indeed, very fascinating

  • Explained very nicely.

  • Fascinating lecture
