That took 5 minutes... I spent 6 hours on the beans alone [had to do the whole routine of simmering them in water, which should only take 1 hour, but 6 hours go by, half of the beans are still hard]
Tried to make it... god... I must have really screwed up because it was disgustinggg. I threw everything away =(
definitely japanese food, it couldn't be korean food. because the fish has the representative meaning in Japan..... If so chinese people may have more possibility to have the food since a lot of things from Japan and Korea are influenced by China.
@ysquaredd I hope that I inspire you to try more Korean foods. Really its not that hard but nake it the way that you like it. Don;t worry about you have to do this or that. Make it the way that you like it.
thanks for the demo! your daughter is beautiful! she's very blessed to have a daddy (who isn't even korean) make her such a great treat! i <3 boong-uh-ppang!!! :) btw, you can put any filling in you want (i'm sure you've already tried). chocolate ganache, nutella, vanilla/chocolate pudding or even make a plain one and then cut it in half and put ice cream in it (kind of treating it like a ice cream waffle cone concept)...you can have red bean ice cream or even green tea ice cream...yummmm.
@kungfuwife Thank you! Love the idea of using them as a waffle cone. Soon I have to try the recipe that I put in the more info a few days ago and see how it works.
Yummo! I can't make these on my electric smoothtop but I'm house shopping and will make sure to have a gas range for these and other yummies. Kid and pup are so cute! She's hapa like me.
Is that your daughter?

@777Kiana These are not as good as the ones you get on the street in Korea but they are close and easy. I do want to do some experimenting with them.

Didn't know they ate them in Korea too. Do they call them "taiyaki" (or daiyagi or however that's Romanized) or is there another name for them?
JFMello1116 1 year ago
@JFMello1116 I don't really know the Korean pronuciation. but it is 붕어빵 which I think is fish bread. My kids just call them fish.

I have to ask: did you get introduced to Korean food while you were stationed in Korea while serving in one of the armed forces?

7DavidKim, I was in the Navy home ported in Japan. Busan was a regular stop for us. Once I took a 14 day vacation in Korea.
