  • Apparently, YHVH aka the Abrahamic God can't talk and keep his eyes open at the same time.

  • @LatiasDita Takes skill.

  • I'm confused, wasn't he killed in SMT2? It seems like he got killed here...

  • @MagatsutheCalamity Yeah, he died. This game was released before SMT2. And the two may or may not be chronologically linked (if they are, then YHVH just reincarnated -- he claims he will here, and in SMT2).

  • @shinreiyhvh Huh.. I thought the Great Will was a representation of all the gods and YHVH was just one of them. He hasn't been seen since SMT2. Is there an ending where they lose to this god? And are you sure it's the same one from SMT2? They do look different...

  • @MagatsutheCalamity I'm pretty sure, yeah. And there isn't an ending where they *lose* to God, but there is one why they join him.

  • @shinreiyhvh huh strange. I assumed they lost because you saw their graves in Nocturne...

  • @MagatsutheCalamity Taking Nocturne as canon for everything opens up a whole can of worms, and taking the entire series as interlinked causes even more (also, they're still mortal: they'll die sometime, and it seems the usual way to go for MegaTen protagonists is missile strikes or cave-ins).

  • @shinreiyhvh No it doesn't. Nocturne is canon and happens in a different world. The neutral end of SMT1 alluded to different worlds. It's not at all a 'can of worms'. The 'Entire series' is Megaten. The SMT series itself seems pretty fine and coincides with each other.

  • @MagatsutheCalamity Except Megami Tensei and Shin Megami Tensei are separate subseries, released by different companies, with the vast majority of people working on each title different (Kazuma Kaneko did art for both series, working at Namco, but the same can't be said for most of the programmers or game designers). The neutral ending of the first Shin Megami Tensei was very vague and Nocturne Maniacs only spelled out a few things.

  • @shinreiyhvh Atlus made it. Namco just published Megami Tensei. Get your facts straight, buddy.

  • @MagatsutheCalamity Source.

  • @shinreiyhvh ...The opening of the game. -_-;

  • @MagatsutheCalamity The opening of Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei, yes, because that was refurbished by Atlus and reprogrammed by Atlus (there are some gameplay differences like the negotiation system in Megami Tensei). I don't see anything in the original Megami Tensei II -- nothing that credits Atlus.

  • @shinreiyhvh They're cited as the developers....

  • @MagatsutheCalamity In what?

  • Where do you find the soundtrack for this game?

  • Use Google (around ffshrine.org, I think).

  • @shinreiyhvh I can't find the soundtrack for Kyuuyaku Megami Tensei (particularly the MT2 remake).

  • Wow, so that's what he looks like in this remake version? Somewhat even freakier than the original. XD

  • Yeah, and a little harder too. I think he has more HP in this version?

  • @shinreiyhvh Uncertain, I've not played either, I'm just seeking detailed info on these two games. :)

Speaking of which, will you more videos on this game sometime? Like... important scenes, boss battles ect ect? And possibly battles in the first MT?

  • Yeah, probably. I haven't really played the first MT past Bien (it's pretty much pure dungeon crawler, while MT2 has more story to it). I've already uploaded the two endings, but I think I might get around to uploading the rest of what I have (some other boss battles) soon, or maybe I'll replay the game and show off some of the dungeons.

Anyway, if there's a specific bit of info you want, feel free to ask, though it'd be helpful to know which SMT games you've played for a frame of reference.

  • @shinreiyhvh Is Bien an area in MT?

I wouldn't mind seeing MT I's boss battles like Loki, Set and Lucifer since they apparently play great roles in the novel trilogies, and the ending of Kyu version of MT I's ending as well.

As for which SMT games I've played, well... I've mainly played the Persona spinoffs, as well as Devil Survivor for DS and gonna do Strange Journey for DS.

  • cont.

But I do know great details about SMTs one through three, I've watched walkthroughs and read great detailed information about them so... yeah, I know enough about those. :)

But like I've said, I've been craving detailed information about the first two games in this awesome video game saga. :P

  • @PrincePhoenicis Well, there aren't very many details to give off of the top of my head. Mainly that the first game only has one ending (and no world map), whereas the second game has two endings and a world map (along with towns that are actually navigable unlike in the first two SMT games!). Neither with a lot of NPC chatter, though MT2 is much more text heavy (most of it's in bars in Tokyo, or huts in Makai, the demon world). MT2 is the only game with a whole lot of story between them, IMO.

  • @PrincePhoenicis Bien is the second (technically third) dungeon, and the first one to contain an actual boss. It also has some pretty good music (like most of the MTI dungeons -- that's its real high point, in my opinion). Loki and Set appear as bosses for various areas as well -- and most predictably, Lucifer is the final boss.

Strange Journey is worth playing. It's a lot closer to these titles than Persona or Devil Survivor. There's also the first two Shin Megami Tensei titles.

  • @shinreiyhvh Wow, I'm late in replying to this. Sorry 'bout that! Anyways...

Ah, I see, I see. Thanks for that info, I appreciate it! Like I said up there, I wouldn't mind seeing those three boss battles and the KMT I ending, so... do you do video gameplay/scene requests? If so then those will be my requests. :]

  • If not, then my apologies.

I've seen the gameplay and ending for MT1 NES here on YouTube, but it was a tool speed run... and I'd like to see how refined the Kyu remake's ending is; I know I certainly was NOT disappointed with MT2's endings which you posted on here. :D

And yeah, I've recently aquired Strange Journey and am enjoying it thus far! :)

  • Well, I'll try to get the MT1 ending. Thing is, that game is quite a bit harder than MT2 -- and a lot more grindy (e.g. the boss of Bien is really difficult, but there're tons of fixed encounters with enemies with hundreds of HP and high damage too). I'm assuming you've heard of the translation patch? Well, the developer recently updated, saying the translation is half-done and the hacking is completed, so even if I can't finish the game, you'll probably be able to play it yourself soon enough!

  • @shinreiyhvh Who is this translator exactly?

And I would... but due to certain circumstances, I can't get an emulator of my own to play, so thus all I can do at the moment is watch. So yeah, my request still stands if you're up for it.

Yeah, I've heard that MTI is very difficult. But which would you say is harder, the NES one or the SNES remake?

  • His name on youTube is "ddstranslation". Pretty damn good hacking work.

I'll try, like I said, but it's a hard game.

Well, I haven't really played the NES version much. But I'd have say that the NES version is harder -- both because the game plays more slowly (the menus, etc. take forever to draw), but also because of increased difficulty in recruiting demons. The SNES version is a lot snappier by comparison.

Sucks that you can't get an emulator, though. I was considering doing a full

  • @shinreiyhvh Forgive the lateness again. lol

Ah, I know of ddstranslation. But... huh. I recently looked at his profile and he's been active since two weeks ago?

Last time I checked on the guy before recently, he was gone for almost a year or something, so I assumed that the guy just gave up on the translating or something in the like...

And I thought that all depended on the moon phases. O.o The New Moon being easier to get demons on your side and whatnot...

  • Oh darn, I missed a comment from a month ago! Sorry! About negotiating, the lunar phase does affect it, but in NES MTI the system is different as far as I can see, while with SNES MTI it's a lot easier and you can get a demon to join you without paying anything.

  • playthrough of the games on youTube, but I'm not sure how well that'd go (I'm doing a screenshot LP of the original Shin Megami Tensei as it is, so argh).

  • @shinreiyhvh Funny thing is, last night I just came across a certain youtube channel that, as a matter of fact, has a boss run series for the original MTI for NES.

Looking at all those funky freaks, makes me once wonder just how graphically they're all improved in Kyuyaku. :o
