you did it wrong, it is dangerous to do it that way....battery could explode. You are suppose to connect neg (black) to a grounded part (unpainted metal) in eng compartment. The way you did it will work, but it is alot more dangerous of a spark comes into contact with the gasses from the battery. I got to give you credit for even trying....alot of women won't
