  • For all you "installers" criticizing this video. Have you ever read the study put out by Orcon about 15 yrs ago entitled "The Carpet Installation Crisis"? If not, maybe you should because things haven't changed much and you are the reason why installers wages are kept so low..

  • Judging by some of the comments, it is easy to see why there are SO MANY installation related problems. CRI 104-105 ARE the minimum and recognized standards for carpet installation. LEARN IT.. LIVE IT.. Those who do not follow these standards are, in part, the reason why the industry is in such dire straits.

  • They made this video just for the sole purpose to confuse you and make you think to yourself..."I'm just gonna pay someone to do this shit". This is a over loaded video. Its not that hard people. Just rent a knee kicker and just do it!

  • OHHH , WAIT A MINIT. HE SAID CERTAIN CARPETS MUST BE HAND SOWN. THIS VIDEO IS A SPOOF , A JOKE ON ALL YOU ALL , IT IS OLDER THAN YOU ARE. HAHAHA LOL.

  • Listen I make no money as it is, SPEED is the most important element if you ever want to be done. Using a powerstretcher the way they do is hilarious to me. Ive been an installer for 20+ years, never is the stretching a problem.

  • That brown jute backing they mention is very rare these days, actually I had forgotten about it. I havent seen it for years and yes that backing makes a very stretchy carpet where they may have believed carpets needs to be power stretched. I do ocasionally see brown backing only on wool carpet that is yes stretchy, but also thin and very easy to stretch with a kicker. Not to mention wool is very expensive.$100-$150 a yard, making it a rare instal.

  • i am i have to install my new carpet! so i need to learn how to doing :)

  • have dual purpose gripper now so goes on all sorts of floors

  • I just throw it down on the floor.People pay me wayyyyyy too much!

  • YOU HAVE TOO MUCH A TO C AND TOO MUCH BLA BLA BLA, BECOME UNION AND DO GOOD WORK!!!!!! I WILL TEACH YOU HOW TO INSTALL CARPET THE RIGHT WAY.... HE DOES IN KNOW HOW TO APPLY LATEX @ THE SEAM!!

  • Correct. Clear. As. Mud.

  • another bollocks guide that tape their underlay

  • @LoveCreps You don't tape your underlay? Why do u think underlay seams are taped? 1. To prevent dust blowing through the underlay joins/gaps which may cause draught marking on light coloured carpets. 2. To secure the underlay together. But of course you dont tape!!

  • Show the side of the steps by the pickets! Those steps were installed waterfall style, I prefer upholstered, then that ugly space doesn't show

  • Wait one second. You're supposed to stretch the carpet before seaming? Yeah yeah I understand the tape doesn't stretch but I didn't see them stretch the fill??? and what if it's a patterned material?

  • QUESTION: "You're supposed to stretch the carpet before seaming?"

    ANSWER: YES!!

QUESTION: "...what if it's a patterned material?"

ANSWER: Learn your trade and you would not ask such questions!!

  • This video made me sleepy.

  • @Laxcarl yeah me too

  • these guys dontknow what they are doing, ive been doing this for 12 years and i know how to do it without a stupid video to tell me how to tell me to install it

  • Obviously you don't!!

  • Clear as mud

  • remember to stretch from A to C but not too much where it touches D and E. if you do stretch A and C too much, cut off from F and G. Divide the perpendicular of B to the square root of D and E minus A. any question, ask someone who gives a shit!
