Tomorrow in debate class I am going to debate with a friend over who is the best pony, Applejack or Twilight Sparkle. The pony I'm representing is Applejack. Now I have nothing against Twilight, but personally Applejack is my favorite. I would just like to know if anyone would be willing to give me any ideas on how to prove that apple jack is the best. She's been in it since the very first generation, and has had an incarnation of herself in each one, too, even if not one of the main ponies the show focuses on. Also, she's very true to the very essence of "Pony"; bucking her hind legs, loving them apples, even referring to her friends as "sugar cube". She is the quintessential pony.

Just so that you know, Anime is what we call an ABBREVIATION.

While it might generally be used to refer to ONE type of animation, it can be sued to refer to any cartoon correctly. Also, this should be a PMV anway, not a AMV, because Ponies are better than Japanese Anime.

It's similar but no way closer to the original meaning. In the West we have a proper distinction between Anime and Cartoons even if there's no difference in Japan (I doubt it, because when I've been in Japan I've never heard about no distinction from the two "animations": they're freaking jealous of they're products). Let's not confound people.

I don't understand the appeal of FIM. G1 MLP had a movie that did better than The Transformers: The Movie in theaters. If you tried to pit an MLP:FIM movie against any of the live action films, there would be no competition. Why is that? It's because FIM is lower quality than its predecessors. They completely revamped the body designs into something far inferior. But what's most annoying is that Hasbro didn't keep true to G1 characters. Applejack is supposed to be red, not golden yellow.

The new show has a very different style of humor. It's not the same Marx Brother's Slapstick, it's a more modern humor. Does the change in style make it bad? No.

In summary: The two just aren't the same show, but they are the same series. It could be a sequel, or maybe an alternative. The two can both be good.
