    But why???

  • Thats so cool!!! Bali must be jealous of what u did guys...

  • This is a great cultural dance, and i think its great for students in a choir to learn something with such depth. Usually these dances are done by tribal men, which is why i think its cool that these girls are doing it.

  • I like the ending.

  • that was good girls defo not as good as the real thing no wer ner

  • Brava to the teacher for teaching them this. Fantastic!

  • FAIL BIG TIME...............

  • Thanks for posting this

    Can I use it?

I am currently experimenting with this type of music myself. Please check out "Gamelon edit #1" and "Chaka Chaka" at my channel

    Rockula!

  • This is really cool. It's really neat to see that there are colleges out there that embrace ALL kinds of music in all it's forms. It's awesome that you girls are immersing yourself into another culture and teaching others about it as well. Good job!

  • This is wonderful! I'm studying to be a choir teacher right now and this has offered me loads of inspiration. I was in this choir 7 years ago! The thing to remember here is that these are 7-9th graders. Wonderful job ladies!!! And way to go Bruno!!!

  • love it!!!

    my sister was in this!!

  • bahan praktek gw nih

  • This was done in the spring of 2008

  • This is wonderful! When did they do this?? I'm actually a junior student at Lawrence University, and an Indonesian myself!

  • I wonder if I could get my chorus to perform this? Great job, guys!

  • he he look this one

    Youtube - "Balinese Monkey Chant"

Its the real one from baraka film

  • Where did u find the instructions/ music to do this?

We were studying Kecak and Balinese chants in IB Music. We wanna do this, but cant find the instructions/ music to do so.

  • if it helps, the name of this piece is TJAK!

  • Love it ! great choir!

  • When was this performed?

  • A brave attempt. I now expect a hate mail campaign but ethnic male cultural traditions (like this) do not usually survive being performed by a) caucasians and especially b) caucasian females. Compare the balinese version in the Baraka movie, and see what I mean.

  • No hate mail campaign - that's not what we are about. I don't wish to engage in a huge conversation about this, but I do wish to let you know that a) this is an octavo published in the US for children's choirs and b) if we don't do music written for non-Caucasions with a primarily Caucasian choir, we do everyone a disservice. Had we performed this in a western choral style, on risers, with Bel Canto singing, we would be completely out of line. We are here to educate. Thanks for your comment.

  • They're students. What better way to learn about the music of another culture than hands-on experience?

  • I love this balinese tradition. Yeah its cool.

you all perform it so good. Makes me tremble.

Except the "tjak tjak tjak" parts :P

  • thnx! it did sound a little "fuzzy" though...

  • porr Kerry. she started the TJAK Fuel Injection too early. she felt really embarrassed.
