  • Congrats to Dutch team!!! Go ~ Go - Goal ! 2010 World Cup

  • a young man learned in '74 and '78 that the best and flashiest didn't always win.

but i did come to appreciate the smell of grass and coffee.

Cruyff would have blended right in and had a good time too. ; )

  • ah nothing like a little weed and a game of

costume soccer....you Dutch really know how to have a good time.

  • Alas, Cruyff did not show up!

  • wow... that's so close to where i used to live (Observatory Road) and when i moved there in 78, those camps were about to be demolished for the TST east developement in the 80s... that field should've been located around the south east corner at Chatham road and Austin road .... the film quality is amazing....

  • Oh, I have no idea where it is!!!! I leave hk long time!!!!

  • thanks~~

  • Very good quality, so clear! I was born there that year!

    Thanks!

  • Michael, thanks for sharing. I deleted my comment below because I thought it did disrupt another poster's comment. Here is the same one: "Fabulous colour quality!"

  • Hi Michael do you know the famous HK DJ in Hong Kong I believed his last name is Neilson from Netherland

  • The term DJ was not known in the fifties, as far as I can remember. Tiësto is our famous DJ here in Holland nowadays.

  • In Kowloon Tong ? The British Army Camp?

  • It shouldn't in Kowloon Tong instead is TST. At 3:04 you can see a church - Rosary Church in Chatham Road South.

Am I right Michael ? Thanks to let me know more 50s of HK

  • Yes, is Chatham RD S across used to be Army Camp and Train Warehouse

  • thanks, yes it is Chatham Road South, the place there they were playing football now is The Hong Kong Museum of History TST East..

  • I can't believe it, changed so much!!!

  • is it for celebration?

  • I forgot, but I suppose it was simply top commemorate the New Year. Moreover it was one of the few days that expats had a day off.

  • Wow, I didn't realise you could film home videos in color. Or did you get the footage elsewhere? This is really interesting. I grew up here.

  • Kodachrome was available from the thirties onward! It is the only emulsion that withstood deterioration and looks as if it was taken yesterday! But I took it 55 years ago. Incidentally, most of the people shown have died.
