  • TTB "Revelator" grammy nominated best blues album. Not shabby,my dear musically skilled sweetpeas. ( I can't even sing in the shower... <--my creds)

  • Thanks for the up!! They look so relaxed, make it look so easy ;)

  • Only a dickhead would make a comment like that. But of course he has the right to make it. As for me, I know a lot about music. I play a string instrument in an orchestra and have studied music theory. At any rate, the band is quite good despite a lack of variety in tempo and mood.

  • negative comments are just as valid as positive comments. That's part of what free speech means.

  • @fasteddie5439 Unless of course you happen to be a dickhead who knows absolutely nothing about music (in which case although you may have the right to say what you want, this invalidates your comments).

  • How boring....

  • 4 dislikes, unbelievable. These two are the undisputed, top of the heap, husband and wife team of the blues.

  • And wearing heels, too. :)

  • I Can't believe that Both Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks are largly unknown in the UK...except for a few fanatics like me..(We still eat each other y'know) We will catch up one day I promise

  • the audience is like everytime and everywhere, drunken, loud .......

these great musician have the same thing around as mediocre wannabees as me.

  • Man, Tedeschi and Trucks are like royalty. These are simply GREAT camera shots. Of course, the vocal track is poor, but at least we get to see two masters working. She's pretty easy on the eyes, too.

  • Wow. Two things: technique and feeling. Susan has the feeling and is learning the guitar technique. Derek is untouchable.

Comparing guitarists is difficult--and petty. But! You can almost always tell who seriously CAN'T play the guitar --they consider themselves qualified to make YouTube comments about who's a better guitarist than whom...LoLOL ha ha hee.

  • Wish I could hear Mike...

  • DErek is on top of his game tonight! Incredible performance!

  • Like the Tele sound and slide guitar they sound great together

  • Coming to Louisville Kentucky September 24, 2011.

Can't wait. Playing at Papa John's Cardinal Stadium.

    Tickets available.

  • Amazin, Recognize, this is one of the best blues bands, if not the best on earth, Of course, Susan makes any band phenomenal

  • Her Tele is beautiful.

  • These people are great - this video has some serious sound problems...

  • The strings find ways to blend in blue for her (Tedeschi), while revealing the relivant cruedness that portrays: stifling-reality and hardship.

  • fuckin' amazing... if she could do nothing else, i'd love Susan just for her feet..lol!

  • During Robert Crays performance at the Waterfront Blues Festival (PDX, Or,) I was snapping material. All these friggin yuppies were talking, totally ignoring a great blues band & music. Couple days later during Buddy Guy's set tho, that wasnt an option. He had it turned up to 11. And rocked the town to its foundations!

  • As a kind of Blues Bonus, there's a killer pair of legs that creeps in at about 2:27. Hers, I mean.

  • find the video of derek trucks and warren haynes playing together on acoustics its great

  • Susan has such a high chirpy speaking voice - where'd all that **bottom** come from?

  • haters of any sort do not belong anywhere near this musical family- SO sad and TOO bad for you - now I LMFAO

  • Just bought the new album Revelator by her and Derek Trucks new get up called the Tedeschi Trucks Band. It's really good, would love to see them live!!

  • music rocks....

  • fckn awesome wicked talent and only dream of havin a life with a chic like they have

  • in8th shit -We’ll now Warren Haynes could be wrong, probably not here now. Since this comment is three years old and the band has a brand new album “Revelator” on June 7, 2011, and times have changed, I’m gonna cut you some slack on your horribly insulting and misguided slur on Susan’s guitar playing. You’re full of S—t, but the vocal comments were reasonable. Mainly, who appointed you the Goddamn expert of judging these wonderfully gifted folk? Your opinions and comparisons are out of line dude

  • Duane or Derek, who gives a shit! The fact that someone is out there that even invites comparison to Duane is a treat. I fell in love with the Allmans in 69 and am so happy that someone is from that old school of slide guitar.

  • good

  • Trucks is VERY good. I enjoy Warren Haynes more as a guitar player.

  • Is Derek a re-incarnated Allman?

  • What a pair!

  • Just noticed that all the videos to the right are with Susan and Derek and blues related. Then, at the top there's a featured video from AssociatedPress with Miley Cyrus of all things! Think they need to work on finding their target audience.

  • This made my day! I love this song; no matter who does it....but WOW....the combo of his slide and her vocals just KILLS it!

  • lovely couple <3

  • Sue got too much soul... to sing like that? and enough spilling out to play guitar with more taste than most can ever dream of.. .. just listeN.. .soullll.

  • trucks just has such an amazing and very unique slide playing style, you can't compare the talents of all these amazing guitarists. they just all sound good, like Joe Bonamassa has an amazing slide soundbut i cant say hes better than trucks, or trucks is better than him

  • Duane was great, Derek is great, but the you can see the best slide guitarist who ever lived right here.

    /watch?v=BsgtxIWZndI

  • @Gallagherfreak100 - Duane's genius was not his ability to play slide guitar. He was not a great technician like Clapton, Derek, Elmore or even Rory. Duane's brilliance was in what he had to say. Listen to his solo starting at about minute 21 or 22 (depending on the recording) of Mountain Jam. Duane says things that NO ONE ever said before and that is his genius. That's what places him on top of the mountain with Jimi and Robert Johnson.

  • I don't know. Duane was obviously a pioneer and modern slide's biggest contributor, and probably Derek's biggest influence. But no one can give me goosebumps like Derek.

  • She looks delicious!

  • I think "ih8thisit" should show some respect to a fine musician, which is what Susan is....a very competent guitarist, fine, fine singer, and lovely lady. I'd like to see him do what she does with half as much style.

  • @WishcraftBlues No doubt...he probably plays through a line 6 too, and thinks his tone is amazing.

  • looks like an awesome show- im so stoked for their new band this year!

  • looks like an awesome show- im so stoked for their new band this year!

  • I saw you guys at the Florida Theatre for New Years 2011, by far the best concert I've ever seen!!!!

  • This talented couple make livin', lovin', and playin' look so easy!

  • I like the sexy, black glimmer dress, offset by the gray flannel. It is a feminine - masculine opposition & then the voices enforce this. Nice looking couple - nice music.

  • Derek is a Killer guitarist

  • There's something very sexy about a woman wielding a six string.

  • @s1914 something even sexier about a woman who can sing like that.

  • Susan plays just fine and sings great. A lot of armchair rock stars would develop some talent of their own if they'd learn to stuff their pie hole more often....ih8this should heed that advice. A musicologist you ain't pal.

  • God, I know she is married and a beauty mom but I love her!!!! how can this be possible ... I love her tone, her voice, and of course her eyes...

  • favourited. that was fucking incredible. and that one person who disliked this must be kicking themselves that they missed the like button now.

  • She looks so cute holding that Tetle don't she?

  • What a package! She sings, she plays, what else could you want? Derek to leave the country would be a good start:)

  • @:47 oops

  • ih8thishit - good thing you aint no music critic.

  • the drummer could look like a younger brother of Derek

  • @bronenalladin you mean his younger brother, Duane?

  • @jazzgtrplayer I guess so

  • I'm not sure because of the shaky camera work, but it looks like they've got Butch and Duane Trucks back there on drums, Derek's uncle and brother, respectively.

  • Just saw them last night here in Ottawa and they were really good. The whole band was good but getting to see Oteil and Derek in that intimate setting was awesome.

  • Just saw them in Red Bank NJ last friday,7-9-10, amazing. I just saw Jeff Beck 2 weeks ago and I think I like Derek better, thats pretty hard to say. It'd be great to see all 3 together.

  • I think I actually saw Derek smile at the beginning of this video!! :O! Daw....

  • wow

  • wtf he can play the duane stuff from the album exactly right

  • @TheBluesguy62154 OMG ... you're a idiot! Sloppy!!!???? Trucks is one of the most precise, professional, smooth slide players I've ever heard. Seriously .. ear doctor ... complete exam ... schedule it tomorrow, before it's too late! (and while your at it, see if he can recommend a surgeon who can remove your head from your ass!)

  • @anongogone Couldn't have said it better myself.

  • @Pandolin11 - I just was at there concert in Cape Cod, Friday night and they were awesome. Fantastic, I can't say enough about how good he is and how good they are together. I didn't know they were married until she said so on stage. All Good..

  • @anongogone The medical term for that surgery is rectal craniotomy :)

  • @anongogone susan tedeschi and derek trucks r my great uncle nd aunt... <3 them for life there music is amazing

  • @TheBluesguy62154

He is sloppy?....are you shitting me? Your ignorance just showed.

He may not be everyones cup of tea with his more jazz infuenced phrasing and

playing, but sloppy is the LAST thing he is.

  • she is hot because she wears a little black dress. The fretboard turns red hot and she blows the crowd away with her voice. So much to love there

  • I agree Susan is a Great sanger, and a good git Tar player .... if you dig her you need to check out Crusty Foley / Sue Foley .. she can hold her own with most all the male gun slingers and ax choppers ....

  • seeing them at all good fest!

susan-heels? how do you manage that for a whole set?

  • Nice job!! There is this one (now) old guy that plays slide who is "pretty good" This is most as good as Johnny Winter w/ Randy Jo Hobbs.

  • Terrible sound, terribly impossible to hear the voice... BUT LOVE their love of the Blues.

  • Looks like Butch sitting in on Rico's drums. He's a great drummer. A lot of his family is up there on that stage.

  • @Pandolin11 I know. That has to be the greatest feeling in the world to play with such good friends and family.

  • You go girl!

  • and... don't know why this entitled 'Glad You're Gone'... because this is definitely Key To The Highway.

  • Susan sounds very very similar to Bonnie Raitt, almost identical at points, almost stealin' her style... odd because Bonnie's such a superb slide player too... It's like Bonnie is their child from the past...

  • They're both very talented.

  • I really like watching videos from audience members, but it's very annoying to hear a bunch of rude audience members chattering away and not paying any attention to the concert.

  • @carseverywhere Every show I go to.

  • @carseverywhere Agreed!

  • @carseverywhere too bad everybody can't get "it", sounds not there but so cool to see the Newlyweds up close-the TTB is breathin some rarefied air- hope I get to see them!

  • I was there and enjoyed Susan Tedeschi singing. They are always the last concert of the year and I am looking forward to going again this year.

  • as Warren Haynes said, "It's terrifying how talented their children will be". Susan would never make it past dive bars as a guitar player but with that voice (not to mention beauty) she is the Elvis of female singers. Besides maybe Patsy Cline, I cant think of anyone that so dominates the class as Susan does. Same goes for Derek. No one in history, not even the Duane himself, is as good at Derek on slide. Standard lead he's devastating as well. SRV may be the only one better fret wise.

  • Damn right !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • @ih8thishit I agree with everything you said. :]

  • @ih8thishit That's a fucking great post, sir.

  • @ih8thishit There are plenty better than Derek straight up on the frets. With a slide, he's damn hard too beat, though....

  • @ih8thishit Think that Duane had played slide only two or three years before he did Layla and then the Allman Bro. Derek has had all of Duane's stuff to learn off of, plus he's been learning since he was probably 7 and he's 30 now. He damn well should be great!

  • @ih8thishit

Bill Frisell is the most inventive all round guitarist I've heard, a big influence on Derek also (hence Derek's "Frisell' tune).

Bill's lapslide/steel player Greg Leisz is s very inventive/intuitive player too. You'll enjoy it if you haven't already!

    Cheers.

  • @ih8thishit Susan will transcend the bar scene, she's way more than a singer. Duane, for however good he was...mmmm..Allmans are juust phenomanal with Deredk & Warren. I think that true talent is there for a reason...channeled....

  • @ih8thishit i agree with every single thing except the SRV statement. I wouldn't say anyone is better fret wise. When you're at the level that both of them are there's no point in saying one is better than the other b/c they're both so incredible. i know you were just giving SRV the respect he has earned. The best part is it doesn't matter b/c we get to enjoy all of it and thank god there's still people like Derek and the rest of them to keep alive what SRV and the other greats started

  • @ih8thishit

Derek might be a better overall slide player than Duane (and I think he is one of the best living slide players, if not the best) but for straight blues slide it's not even close: Duane was the man, period. He invented one of the sweetest tones ever heard and he got every note "right in the pocket" of the songs he played. The opinion of Warren Haynes is pretty weighty on this subject, incidentally.

  • @ih8thishit elmore james, johnny winter and jimi hendrix would be my main answers to who would be better...

  • Just as Jimi Hendrix was The Greatest Guitarist that EVER Lived,

DUANE ALLMAN IS THE GREATEST SLIDE GUITARIST THAT EVER LIVED..

    P-E-R-I-O-D.

  • DUANE ALLMAN IS THE GREATEST SLIDE GUITARIST THAT EVER LIVED..

    P-E-R-I-O-D.

  • @MrDJROGERS okay. thanks for letting us know..

  • @ih8thishit There might be a few who disagree with your assessment on Duane's slide playing... IMHO, Duane had the confidence because he knew that LesPaul's fretboard like his lover, to know exactly when to hit the note and when not to... He had more space between notes in his phrasing. It takes a special musician to know when to "lay it down" and when to "leave it on the floor." Sometimes Derek gets a little too "note happy," playing just a little too much, if you know what I mean. Listen...

  • @ih8thishit Lots of "talented" musicians have children you'll never hear of.

  • @ih8thishit Duane and Warren are/were in my opinion his equals at slide Mick Taylor too it's so subjective don't say such things though when it comes too Susan I agree with you

  • @ih8thishit I must be old and Dereck is hot but if my memory serves me right, Duane was the first to rock out on slide like that.Who ever breaks ground first gets the gold medal, and Duane's whole body of work was over at age 24. There really isnt anything out there like the Dereck and The Domino stuff that happen with duane and clapton. If you really want to rockout bro, listen to lost recordings. Those jams stand alone unchallanged to date

  • @ih8thishit HERESY! Derek better than Duane on slide? Sorry, no. If that's true then Jerry Lee Lewis is a better pianist than Mozart. No disrespect to Derek, but Duane was a brilliant genius and the best guitar player PERIOD that America has ever produced - including Jimi.

  • @broadpath I'm inclined to agree. Derek is the best at incorporating themes from other musical genres, and he can definitely play any style, but in terms of straight-up slide guitar technical ability, I don't think anyone can possibly top Skydog. Who knows how good he could have become...

At the same time, the fact that Derek can crush both Clapton and Duane's solos when he covers songs from the "Layla" album is downright impressive, and definitely puts him in the same class.

  • @thenut8522, hind sight is 20/20 covers are covers, Clapton covered this.

  • @ih8thishit

Warren's right lol, however susan is a good guitarist, shes more along the lines of buddy guy in the way she plays and you only get better with practise and as SHE IS touring the world now with derek shes bound to get better. Have a listen to really early blues recordings and see how similar she is to them.

  • @ih8thishit I could not agree more. Derek always plays in open E tuning, even for non slide solos, fills etc. Amazing to watch

  • @ih8thishit I could not agree more. Derek always plays in open E tuning, even for non slide solos, fills etc. Amazing to watch. As far as Susan Tedeschi, well it's 2011 - she's obviously been taking lessons (from her husband) she has come so far in her playing. That voice too...

  • @ih8thishit Vocal wise she is sounds A LOT like Bonnie Raitt...Listen to Angel from Montgomery...As far as slide playing goes..Duane only played slide for 3 years..died at 24...Derek has been playing slide longer than Duane was alive..And what the Hell is it with SRV?..He ripped of Albert King, Lonnie Mack and played a few Hendrix licks and people think he was the greatest picker ever..I liked SRV but come on..

  • @ih8thishit She's a damn good guitar player when it all boils down to it, just fills in where Derek leaves space.

  • @Dapmasters nah... she's terrible as a picker, but with a voice, face and body like that - who cares?!?? Her pairing with Derek is the perfect combination.

  • @ih8thishit I saw them live in April of 2011, obviously this vid is a bit dated, and she played impresively well. Don't discount her ability, it is much improved since then.

  • @ih8thishit She does have that sitting in the garage, drinking beer guitar ability. At least in this video. This song must have been shot with a phone. Love her voice though in anything but this.

  • @ih8thishit Trucks is great, but give Sonny Landreth a listen. I love this cover of Key to the Highway.

  • great videos.. thanks so much for posting!.. i love susan when she plays with her band solo, and also soul stew revival..

had a chance to talk with derek and susan after they played here in san francisco a few months ago with SSR and they are the nicest folks in the world.. genuinely friendly and down-to-earth.. what a treat..

  • look at that expression on derek's face at the end. he's havin some serious fun on this one.

  • nothing wrong with that guitar solo. they compliment each other so perfectly. i once saw an interview with them, susan said if she had 1 wish it would be to play guitar like derek, and when derek was asked he, he said i wish i could sing like susan. how sweet. it might look a little funny her voice coming out of his body, but you get the point. they all contribute what they have, to make this the 2nd BEST live band out there today. when are they going to release a cd that's what i wanna know.

  • i just dont like it when susan solos...I know its a terrible thing to say...and I think soul stew are just about the best band out there....but that always kinda bugs me (as for everything else shes terrif)
