Dan didn't give his life and his motto, "so others can live" was not painted on any of his cars even on his National Guard car.

its always sad too see deaths and serious injuries in motor-racing, but that is I guess the nature or sport, it says on the back of the ticket (at least it does in the UK) 'Motorsport is Dangerous'. Sure the organisers the car designers can do X to improve the safety, but as safety rises so does the speed, as the speed rises so does the danger, Im just glad that we see this once every few years, rather than like F1 up until 20 years ago, when it was a death every race meeting. RIP DW.
