This IS one of Rustys' great songs that he sang. BUT he did not write the song. The Goodmans' guitar player, Dwayne Friend, is the one who wrote the song. I recorded the song many years ago and Dwayne got a hold of me and we had the honor of having lunch with him n Springfield, MO. He is also the one who wrote the song of the year in 1972 "The Night Before Easter."
Thanks for taking your tape recorder that night!!! I just cannot believe that no one has re-recorded this song! I have not heard it in years! What a blessing!!!
Thank you so much for posting this song. This is the first time I have ever heard it but it won't be the last, thanks to you. Do you know if it can be found on a cd? If so please write to me at honeygators@yahoo.com and put Rusty Goodman in the subject line. Thank you.
As I recall, the studio cut of this song first appeared on the 'Legendary' album- the one right before "99 &44/100 % Pure Gospel". Both were tracked (the band parts recorded) in Nashville, using A-team country session players at (probably) Woodland Studio, where Neil Young cut 'Harvest'.
Vocals were added later, at the Goodman's own studio in Madisonville at their leisure.
Released on Word Records (I think?), certainly out-of-print (shame).
Thank you so much for adding this to my page ...I had planned to record and do this song and I knew you had it so I am thankful you added it so people can play it . It is one true classic from Brother Rusty . The Goodman were on the very first Paul Heil show back in 1980 I heard that 30 year special today Paul replayed the interview with Howard...I do so miss The Goodmans than God for every recording .
Praise God !, I am glad you took your recorder. Rusty Goodman one of the all time great songwriters and singers. His family was sold out for the Lord.
Rusty had such a good heart and an amazing voice. I miss listening to him. I often find myself randomly humming "Written in Red" which was one of my favorite Rusty songs.
Does someone have the You Make It Rain album he recorded around 1980? AWESOME album...looking for the song about the woman caught in adultry and Jesus wrote love letters in the sand. THANKS!! What an inspiring song if someone has it!
I have the actualy record album entitled "You Make It Rain For Me." It was releasede in 1978. It has the title song and has "Leavin On My Mind." I don't have the CD Album.
We did a praise dance/drama to this song. I played Adam, my mom played Jesus and my sister play God, it was was awesome. I truly love these types of songs...they take you to the throne of Grace.
Thank you so much for posting this song. I loved Rusty and all the Goodmans. And to answer your question???? Yes, I'm very thankful you took your recorder :)You captured one of the all time greats in gospel music. God Bless You Don!!!
Thank you soooo much for this song! I have loved it since I was just a little girl-

Far and away the most beautiful song I've ever heard and Rusty was by far the most gifted writer of Gospel songs!
