Please keep it up Disney! This movie reminds me of Oliver and Company - a test run for the reintroduction of the animated musical that was successful. now they should keep going.
I seriously can't understand people who don't like this movie. I'm one of the biggest Disney geeks EVER, and very picky about the quality I expect from Disney. I went into the theater extremely apprehensive about this film, but came out LOVING IT! Since then I've seen in at least 10 times, and it never fails to make me laugh, cry, smile, and fall in love all over again with the story, the music, and the characters. ♥
Oh, & watching this in HD makes me want a Blu-ray player SO FREAKIN' BAD!
@xisomorphicx I've watched it exactly that many times and after the fifth time, I did start to see its flaws. I still love it, but at the same time, I wish the film could have had more subtlety and surprisingly more filler and time spent with the parents and other side characters. Yes, Tiana, we get it, you're a role model! Stop telling us every 2-5 minutes!
Is it just me, or was this one of the only Disney movies where the two people actually got to know each other before going off and getting married? I know the other ones were really close to the original fairy tale, but it seems in a lot of them it was like "Oh you brought me my shoe, Lets go get married" or "Ooh you kissed me and woke me up Lets go get married"

@vegiluvsvball I think technically speaking, Aladdin did it first, but didn't pull it off quite as well. Beauty and the Beast did it much better, developing the relationship over the course of months as opposed to hours and to this day remains the most well-developed romance from Disney. There were others after it, but none could stand up to Beauty and the Beast.
Princess and the Frog (and even then it was a bit short, but I suppose if you go through THAT much with someone, you must be bound by fate or what not)
Aladdin - At the end it was assumed they married, but in the 3rd movie they officially did, so they actually were engaged for 2 movies.
Beauty and the Beast - Probably the most developed, because it actually went over the course of a few months.

But, plenty of Disney characters got married after knowing one another. It's the more old fashioned ones that have them magically fall in love after meeting each other. Look at Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin, Hercules, Mulan, and Tarzan. All movies where the characters got to know each other and fall in love. :)
you know when Naveen tries to convince Louis to take them by subtly or not so subtly suggesting Mama Odie can turn him human, it reminded me of the wizard of oz, as does this song remind me of the song: We're Off to See The Wizard. "we're going to see the wizard now to give him a heart and him a brain and i'm sure the wizard can give you some courage." xD

But like you, I prefer the French crocodile's voice, because I used to listen it, but also because the dubber is the great Richard Darbois (he dubbed the Genie, Harrison Ford, Richard Gere, Buzz Lightyear, Oogie Boogie, Baloo, ect.) ! I saw this movie for the first time two days ago, and I was blown away. Everything about it so great. I'd put it right up there with Beauty and the Beast and The Little Mermaid, which are my two favorite Disney Princess films.

I read somewhere that Dom DeLuise was the original choice for the voice of the alligator (Sorry, I forgot his name.) Disney announced just one day before DeLuise died that he was going to be the alligator. Of course, it changed after his death. I can actually see Dom DeLuise being the alligator. He seems like one of those cartoon characters that DeLuise would voice.
