"When this happens, there is an inflammatory effect and the body sends out chemicals(bradykinin and prostaglandins)to cause sensitivity to the nerves endings"
I thought we hadnt figured out the reason for muscle soreness yet. It is true that microtrauma occurs yes, but at the time when soreness appears, all microtrauma is long gone and the muscle is trengthened. But bradykinin and prostaglandins could be an explanation, just havent seen any research confirming that
I have a question about your title and information comment..it says "i have been listening to MISS INFORMATION.." ROFL ! ! ! I think you meant "misinformation". I wonder if MR INFORMATION knows this, however.
the burning sensation is not caused by lactic acid, lactic acid makes your muscles acidic waking up the dormant enzyme called Cathepsin which feeds the muscle tissue which puts you in a catabolic state,,,,WHICH gives your e.g calves that burning feeling not allowing you to finish your marathon, 5k, 10k, etc.
If you want to read some great research on why and how muscles get sick and stop functioning properly search for Thomas Griner and read his work. He is a revolutionary pioneer of muscle research and muscle health...or go to neurosoma. I had a muscle problem that no one could give me an answer to and then I found Griner's work and I am on the mend. I see Dr. Joe in NYC. Good luck for all those in need of help with muscles in spasm, otherwise known as hypertonic muscle.
hi Cody, I recently started interval training, I walk for 1 min and run for 30 sec, I repeat this and also extend the times, but after 2 weeks of doing this I get this intense pain in my lower stomach, I eat decent , and drink a decent amount of water, is there something I can do about this pain? Or do I need to keep pushing threw it?
@kc243243 dude you should go to the doctor. Hes not a doctor, its better to go see a specialist. Dont keep holding in the pain, it could be something serious.
You are correct about lactic acid not being the cause of muscle soreness but it's also not the cause of muscle fatigue. Every time ATP is split for energy, ADP and an inorganic phospate molecule are produced. The increase in protons is what causes acidosis and fatigue. The lactate is used as a buffer to reduce this acidosis and allow you to do more work.
Thanks for the added information. Without getting to deep into this discussion, this video was meant for people who do not know much, or anything about physiology. I keep it simple for that reason. I am still trying to get people to understand that lactic acid is not the cause of soreness. Are you listening out there message therapists! Anyway, good to here from you.
If you are still sore from the last workout, give those muscles more time to recover. The soreness is caused from micro-trauma to the muscle cells and they need time to heal and re-inforce to get ready for the next workout. If you need more specific info, let me know. Always glad to help.
Hi i used to strugle with my stamina but now i have improved greatly on that i don't get tierd when i'm boxing because do alot of swimming and joging. The problem i have now is i can't move my arms for long time and my triceps start giving up on me along with other muscles in my body. When i swim i stretch properly but my muscles start hurting me and start to getting stiff. i didnt have that problem before i improved my stamina.
As you improve your stamina, you are able to work your muscles for longer periods of time, this will cause greater fatigue of the working muscles. Lactic acid will build up in the working muscles as you increase your intensity. It is the reason you reach failure and the muscles burn. Decrease your intensity if you want to prolong the activity and stretch after you are warmed up and post exercise. Hope that helps.
hmm well if lactate is a buffer for the acidosis when u say buffer i guess u r saying to bring to neutral less acidic then the state lactic acidosis must be wrong? its in all medical texts
First of all, if you want to be taken seriously, don't text like your 12. Your message is a little mixed up. I was just letting people know some basic facts about what lactic acid is and what it isn't. If you want to show how much you know, spell it out.
It's a bloody bitch that's what it is
