I just finished playing FF6 for the first time. I can see why a lot of fans like it. It was really good. The story isn't too hard to grasp and the characters were all cool storywise and gameplay wise.
This game is proof that you don't need good graphics to have a great game. They story and gameplay is what keeps people hooked, if they remade this game even with VII's old PS1 graphics I'd buy it... Great game, awesome gameplay, memorable characters, engaging story, screw most of the newer RPGs anymore, the 90's is where its at! l

Best game of its day IMO. When you consider the utter quality of this masterpiece you can't help but be amazed it resided on a 16-bit cartridge. And the music... I remember being thunder struck by the ending as a kid. I loved 6 and 7 but the original SNES ending of 6 made a much stronger impact on me.

@goalieDG Its two things. One is an Imperial Airforce unit falling out of the sky (from Setzer's attack,) and immediatly after you see a Magitek Armor being piloted through Narshe's streets (by terra), moments before it crushes a prone Guard.
I would hate if they made an anime of ff6. I think thatd be the worst artstyle for it. Don't get me wrong, I like anime. But the artsytle for FF6 was very renaissance/industrial and I'm not convinced anyone would get it right. A remake... Now THAT I could live with.
You could never do FF6 justice as a movie. For one it's too long even for two movies, and second I refuse to see some ditzy Hollywood actress cosplaying as Celes.
Better an anime series, though as FF6 is the most neglected Final Fantasy game there is (in terms of extra media) it probably won't happen.
Yes I know it's a matter of opinion, but I can't just agree that FF7 was anywhere near FF6 (though better than FF8). FF7 is a pretty good game. FF6 is a movie you can play.
When Kefka poisoned Doma, I felt like 'OMG KEFKA YOU BASTARD!!!' even though we barely get introduced to them as characters. When Aeris died I was like 'huh, how about that'.

@madskilliz There is a scene where he's on the train with the ghosts in the FMV, and there's a split second white flash. If you pause on that flash, you'll see realms outline.
@TylerNessss Yep, its real. Check on the final fantasy wiki, but if you can get the timing right, it happens at 1:18 seconds in. I cant set the slider any closer than that, but you can pause on it if you're fast. The best way is to look for a black blob in the lower-center of the video, her black shirt. thats when you need to pause basically, its up for only a frame or two.
My slider is so inaccurate :P Couldnt even get it close.
But i must be lucky as hell. I just tried pausing it 3 more times and the third time i got a very nice shot :)
Red bandana sort of thing? Black top of the dress, a lighter part from the waist down, an armbracelet and possibly something in her hair. But its fairly blurry and hard to see wether the lighter parts are actually light coloured or if its caused by the flash :P
I don't think a movie general regardless of length or how many would be good to capture all the small stories that contributed to the overall plot but any case it would definitely have to be more than just one movie or television season in order to give proper praise

You know what i like about this ending how it sums up imo the main theme of this game: "Hope" at the end with Kefka's questions before the last boss fight those questions are answered metaphorically in the final scene with Celes finding Locke's bandanna .
@mceruto actually, Terra was quite confused and scared most of the time, it wasn't until later in the world of ruin that she gained her self confidence. Don't get me wrong, I love Terra, but Celes did get the gang back together after the world got "shifted around", hence the last scene of this video.

hollywood needs to get off its ass already and make this into a two part film: part 1 should be called "Final Fantasy VI: World of Balance", and part 2 should be called "Final Fantasy VI: World of Ruin". directed by either peter jackson, james cameron, or steven spielberg.
If Hollywood ever tried, it would be a shitty underwhelming effort, directed by the jackass who did transformers 2, with a redundant and terrible plot of no relation to the game, terrible acting, horrible writing and a musical score consisting of generic rock and explosions.
I would rather they keep their hands off this since it is pretty obvious those money grubbing studio execs would not give it even a bit of the quality it would deserve.

Great ending, I do feel IX had a better ending, but I did like all the characters much more. But they took alot of things from VI and expanded on them in IX. Great games here.

I absolutely love ff6 but I do hate it when people bash 7 and say that people who like it better than 6 are graphics whores. I mean come on, the graphics in 7 aren't even that great and it is possible to like both games you know. And I find that both games have a very similar feeling which is probably why they are my two favorite final fantasy games.

Main characters have amnesialike problems, both games have imperial soldiers infused by a huge dose of magic,both were former enemy soldiers who came to be where they were through reasons that are still not entirely clear, the antagonists both try AND suceed in causing massive destruction through accumulation of magic, Only one black man exists in the world (Gen. Leo, Barret), antagonists both have *One Angel Wing*...and lots more too.

Deep characters. Moving storyline. Hidden plots and characters! This is the best FF game ever. Anyone who disagrees are graphic whores. If it weren't for this game, FF7 would've never been anywhere NEAR as popular as it was. FF4 (FF2) peaked soon-to be FF fan's attention in the states. But FF6 (FF3) solidified the fan base and the the players' love for this game carried on over to FF7's success!

FFVI is definetly the most deserving of a remake. Although i slightly prefer VII over VI i still think this deserves a 3d overhaul much more. And also i can't believe no-one has mentioned that FFX is the best... Because it is.

as a whole, from beginning to end, the music, story, characters, emotion, the total package, this is my favorite Final Fantasy. I find the characters in this FF much more memorable than the more recent FF's that seem to be a collection of some bubblegum Jpop remix rejects.
I'll tell you what though, we did get somert good from the other Final Fantasies, especially after this, those Weapons are the sort of challenge I usually love!
And if it weren't for VII and VIII not only would I probably have not played a Final Fantasy again and me and Butchebk wouldn't have been able to make a series of Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards based on the Weapons, and we wouldn't have gotten the Chocobo Weapon!

I still maintain Final Fantasy VI is underrated! The first RPG I ever owned and played! The main problem with VI is that being 2D, it's seriously overshadowed by VII and VIII, which were 3D as well as being on the PlayStation! Still it did get a revamp for the GBA and DS like all the ones before, so it's not all bad!
Although FF7 was epic in the history of videogames, this bad boy right here is the GOD of all RPG! So many characters deeply fleshed out... The music... It's too amazing for words. But they'll never remake it and give it the majesty it deserves. To those who know, may this story never die. ULTIMA!
I dunno, for me I think the SNES ending offered much more closure and wasn't so ambiguous about what the ending told for the fate of the survivors living on the world they were to rebuild.
I love that scene with Alexander and angel-Kefka.
Partly because of the epic music of course, but also partly because it's like... good guy wielding Holy magic versus bad guy wielding Holy magic. So epic.
This was my most favorite single player game of all time. The original 100 percent ending was fabulous and memorable, Kefka was unforgettable and funny, and the world was actually DESTROYED in this epic. Plus, the game had 2 parts to it, WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?! This game is a perfect example of how good of a game Square can create, and I KNOW they can create another great game like this...Hopefully FF15 is the best RPG ever.
I Loved this game as a kid, i think i first played it when i was like 7, never actually completed it, was good to see the ending, even though it was a bit weird but so glad i've actually managed to see it after 13 years :'D

They remade FFIV; I haven't played it yet, but it's true to the original story down to the location of the treasure boxes, it has some cool bonus features for added challenge and replay value, it looks REALLY great, the bosses seem to be harder... it's totally something I'd buy.

Also, Kefka was an awesome villain. Pure evil, psychotic, and wanted to destroy everything. You even get to live in a destroyed world lingering on life...
Terra found something worth living for too in the dying world, which is Love, and even Hope. I think Celes found it too looking for Locke, and I think she only finds his bandana if Cid dies. This is canon.
I think only Crisis Core was really needed but it could have been better. I loved seeing how fun-loving Zack was and his relationship with Aerith. :)
Genesis wasn't so bad either, Angeal wasn't that great but I loved seeing the Buster Sword pass down from him, to Zack, and then Cloud, all from a dramatic death.
And Hollander? I don't really care.
Hojo is way better than that loser... I hate that psychotic puppet master... But that's what makes him a good villain.
Too bad even with all the CGs of the PSX remake I still like the unoficial rom that was RETRANSLATED by "RPGone" That was 100% uncut. Even this fine remake was censored to an extent. for example when you went to that port town with Cyan the woman there propositions him lol.
It's not that the PS1 version was "censored" so much as, they didn't both to uncensor the dialog. They still, like, changed the cafe signs back to pub signs, and that sort of thing, but they were apparently too lazy to go through all of Ted Woolsey's translation to turn the cider back to booze and so forth.
That said, the Woolsey translation wins out in terms of fun readability. The "uncut" translations I've seen just look boring to me.
A suggestion: add yt:crop=16:9 to the video's tags. This tells the YouTube player to show the video without all the letterboxing--zooms in on the 16:9 part of the video, provided the file was originally a 4:3-sized file.

Yeah, and? Everyone treats FF7 like it is the final fantasy god. It's not the best...who cares when the Anthology version was made...even the original was brilliant. FF6 is overlooked due to all the merchandising that can be taken off of FF7. FF7 was stunning...for it's time.

Don't want to start a fan-war here, but I think FF6 is pretty over-rated, too. It's still pretty high up there on my list, but the game's got issues that I rarely hear brought up by the fandom.
My point in that post was simply that the FMVs were a very late add from a time long after FF7's release, so it's no surprise they're better. Strictly speaking, they aren't even part of the *game,* but rather come before and after the game.

@dragonmatt5 lol yeah i know. this is just one of my favorite games of all time and i've often wondered what it would be like if they made a movie out of it. and yeah, where there's a game-to-movie transition, there's always terrible acting. but i used to hand pick actors and actresses for the characters and just imagine how it would play out.

@heyimJoeK i don' t think hollywood could ever cram this experience into a 2-4 hour movie because they'll just cutout shorten some of the little stories in between that really made us feel for the characters and other memorable events.I think at best if they were to bring it to mainstream I think it would be best one as a 4 season long hour long mini series.

I absolutely love ff6 but I do hate it when people bash 7 and say that people who like it better than 6 are graphics whores. I mean come on, the graphics in 7 aren't even that great and it is possible to like both games you know. And I find that both games have a very similar feeling which is probably why they are my two favorite final fantasy games.

Main characters have amnesialike problems, both games have imperial soldiers infused by a huge dose of magic,both were former enemy soldiers who came to be where they were through reasons that are still not entirely clear, the antagonists both try AND suceed in causing massive destruction through accumulation of magic, Only one black man exists in the world (Gen. Leo, Barret), antagonists both have *One Angel Wing*...and lots more too.

Deep characters. Moving storyline. Hidden plots and characters! This is the best FF game ever. Anyone who disagrees are graphic whores. If it weren't for this game, FF7 would've never been anywhere NEAR as popular as it was. FF4 (FF2) peaked soon-to be FF fan's attention in the states. But FF6 (FF3) solidified the fan base and the the players' love for this game carried on over to FF7's success!
I must had played this game thru a dozen times (SNES and PS1 versions, each).

as a whole, from beginning to end, the music, story, characters, emotion, the total package, this is my favorite Final Fantasy. I find the characters in this FF much more memorable than the more recent FF's that seem to be a collection of some bubblegum Jpop remix rejects.
This is classic FF at its very best.

I'll tell you what though, we did get somert good from the other Final Fantasies, especially after this, those Weapons are the sort of challenge I usually love!
And if it weren't for VII and VIII not only would I probably have not played a Final Fantasy again and me and Butchebk wouldn't have been able to make a series of Yu-Gi-Oh! Cards based on the Weapons, and we wouldn't have gotten the Chocobo Weapon!

I still maintain Final Fantasy VI is underrated! The first RPG I ever owned and played! The main problem with VI is that being 2D, it's seriously overshadowed by VII and VIII, which were 3D as well as being on the PlayStation! Still it did get a revamp for the GBA and DS like all the ones before, so it's not all bad!

This was my most favorite single player game of all time. The original 100 percent ending was fabulous and memorable, Kefka was unforgettable and funny, and the world was actually DESTROYED in this epic. Plus, the game had 2 parts to it, WHAT MORE CAN YOU ASK FOR?! This game is a perfect example of how good of a game Square can create, and I KNOW they can create another great game like this...Hopefully FF15 is the best RPG ever.

If they WERE to make a truly good remake of ANY of my favorite Final Fantasy's, I'd buy it, flat out. But it seems that won't happen...

They remade FFIV; I haven't played it yet, but it's true to the original story down to the location of the treasure boxes, it has some cool bonus features for added challenge and replay value, it looks REALLY great, the bosses seem to be harder... it's totally something I'd buy.

I love a lot of FF's, and I'm not into bashing like some of you guys are, but yeah, I feel as if VI is the best. It's so... beautiful...
Also, Kefka was an awesome villain. Pure evil, psychotic, and wanted to destroy everything. You even get to live in a destroyed world lingering on life...
Terra found something worth living for too in the dying world, which is Love, and even Hope. I think Celes found it too looking for Locke, and I think she only finds his bandana if Cid dies. This is canon.

I think only Crisis Core was really needed but it could have been better. I loved seeing how fun-loving Zack was and his relationship with Aerith. :)
Genesis wasn't so bad either, Angeal wasn't that great but I loved seeing the Buster Sword pass down from him, to Zack, and then Cloud, all from a dramatic death.
And Hollander? I don't really care.
Hojo is way better than that loser... I hate that psychotic puppet master... But that's what makes him a good villain.

Too bad even with all the CGs of the PSX remake I still like the unoficial rom that was RETRANSLATED by "RPGone" That was 100% uncut. Even this fine remake was censored to an extent. for example when you went to that port town with Cyan the woman there propositions him lol.

It's not that the PS1 version was "censored" so much as, they didn't both to uncensor the dialog. They still, like, changed the cafe signs back to pub signs, and that sort of thing, but they were apparently too lazy to go through all of Ted Woolsey's translation to turn the cider back to booze and so forth.
That said, the Woolsey translation wins out in terms of fun readability. The "uncut" translations I've seen just look boring to me.

A suggestion: add yt:crop=16:9 to the video's tags. This tells the YouTube player to show the video without all the letterboxing--zooms in on the 16:9 part of the video, provided the file was originally a 4:3-sized file.

Yeah, and? Everyone treats FF7 like it is the final fantasy god. It's not the best...who cares when the Anthology version was made...even the original was brilliant. FF6 is overlooked due to all the merchandising that can be taken off of FF7. FF7 was stunning...for it's time.

Don't want to start a fan-war here, but I think FF6 is pretty over-rated, too. It's still pretty high up there on my list, but the game's got issues that I rarely hear brought up by the fandom.
My point in that post was simply that the FMVs were a very late add from a time long after FF7's release, so it's no surprise they're better. Strictly speaking, they aren't even part of the *game,* but rather come before and after the game.
