hello. i was wondering if you could help. i recently purchased this camcorder. i just tested it recording in SD (no HDV tapes yet) & tried to import the footage using FCP. i have searched the internet trying to figure out the proper settings to import the footage & nothing seems to work. there is an error that displays when i go to i.link conv. it says "changes not allowed. unplug i.link cable" & it's not plugged. are you aware of this problem & do you know how to go about setting it up? thanks
sorry I have no idea what will be the problem, but check if you are using the cable HDV-1080i60 Firewire Basic or try to change the DV-PAL to DV-NTSC or you might have an old version of fcp, if you have the more modern version 5.1.2, you will not have problems.
this professional camcorder is good for many small film associations because it has got a lot of different options, two rings and good lens...Price is regular for this type of professional camcorder because it is Sony.

I recommended it, but in 2008,now is a little old, now I recommend the HXR-NX5J not recorded on tape, this recording to SD card, and also the new system 'Exmor'
@tylagonasaurus I'm getting the FX1 and the results still look brilliant. People are still filming on vx1000 with no LCD screen. It's not the camera, it's what comes out/off of it.
I have this camera, I say the only down fall is no XLR inputs and not too keen in low light situations. But other than that, its a awesome camera. I love it!

what better sony vx2100 or this?
skater4life1000 1 year ago
of course this one! because vx2100 is not high definition and and the fx7 have more new tecnoligias
ryuichihz 1 year ago
@skater4life1000 the vx2100 has better low light capibilites, so if your filming in a dark garage or something it will peform better
