The FCC limit was 53.3 kbps because it was a voltage offset in the U.S. YOu could get 56 kbps in Canada and other places because the phone lines rean on 220 Volts instead of 110 Volts.
theres a sound ill never miss. ill also never miss those literally 20 minute fucking signons and then getting booted for no apparent reason. plus having busy phone lines. god dial up sucked. does anyone even use dialup anymore?
56k wasn't even 56k if you added the FCC limit of 52 kbps and IP overhead data, in which case your real download speed would be sadly lowered to 48-40 kbits (or even lower depending on line conditions) per second in reality =(
lolz it tuke u an our just 2 get nothing! LOLZ! JAYKAY JAYKAY JAYKAY LOLZ!

You might be surprised at how much of the elderly population (and those who live in remote locations) still use it.

lol at 56k the maximum speed limit on it the slowest broad band being 256k. And most ppl are averaging on 4096k.
Big difference in speed.

o: I must still be on the slow train, then again my area wants to charge me $80+ per month for some puny 3 mbit speeds via cable.
For now, I'm stuck with 1.5 mbit DSL.
Pashune 3 years ago
1.5 meg isnt too bad
Better then 56k trust me on that
