"Fearing God" is more than just "respecting" Him, it IS the correct phrasing. The Bible says to fear God. It's the same mentality as having a great friend that is the sweetest most uplifting friend, but is a 7 foot bodybuilder. He's your friend, but you don't want to do anything disrespectful to him because you can justify in your own head that he is capable of smashing you like a bug, but you will give him the respect he deserves. That's how we need to be with God.
@InsanityOnABunExtras I look him more like a wonderful father and friend who is all mighty and that when his kids don't respect him there is a punishment that awaits them when they get home from school (or when they get home from life.) Not the best analogy I know.

@Proverbs2719 oh yes! God's Word and Spirit are alive and dwell in us, today. Miracles, visions, they are all still real, and they do happen. When God's Spirit moves us, in whole-hearted abandonment to his creative and discerning mind, wow. That's all I can say-it seems like God left His Spirit for us to better interpert Him. Just look at what glorious things God has done through His Spirit. Revivals, healings, speaking in toungues, people addicted to drugs having their lives turned around
