  • hey what do i do when in the air to make the autopilot follow the route? i dont want to end up like Korean Airlines 007.....

  • @awesomeburodude To end up like 007 would be a very bad thing lol! :D

When you take-off and are ready to set the autopilot, you must make sure that the LNAV and VNAV lights are illuminated on the autopilot control panel. Make sure the autothrottle is armed. When this is done press one of the autopilot command buttons.

After you have done this, it would be a good idea to go through and press, VNAV and LNAV again, just to make sure they are all active :)

  • very good job ...thanks. could u do Quito to Guayaquil pls (Ecuador)?

  • when using vnav i get a crz alt unable error in the fmc

  • @danny3902 This may be because you have set a Cruise Altitude which is too high for the aircraft to physically ascend to! You may have to set another, lower cruise altitude or just ignore the message and continue the aircraft's climb!!

  • hi you remember me....So i confused in finaly step where you said somting about discontinuity and i cant understand how to repair it

  • @iwannalearnfly To repair a flight discontinuity, you take the CLR button and press it. Then you should see CLR in the scratchpad. Push the line select key next to the discontinuity and it will go. If this doesn't work, take the waypoint after the discontinuity and push the line select key next to it. It will appear in the scratchpad and then all you have to do is push the line select key next to the disco and it will fill in with the appropriate waypoints!

  • @pilotdrummer95 Hey! Great tutorial! But i would like to see a tutorial on how to use the autopilot to follow the FMC in the air :)

  • @micxen That's an idea to consider! It's virtually the same, this tutorial only goes through the preparation before the flight. There isn't actually that much to do in-flight :)

  • Thanks, great tutorial!

  • @NLonDS Thanks... good to see people appreciate my stuff :)

  • pukka

at 5:10 you said its not very good i disagree as this was very helpful :) keep em coming :-)

  • @saitekrumblepad

Thanks a lot... I think I seem to have lost steam with making my tutorials as I think they aren't very good but also I have a lot of exams this year at school. Hopefully, I'll get back into the swing of things soon =)

  • Is this what real pilots do when they do the fmc? Or is this just for fsx?

  • @averredude101

Well it is an FSX addon an the rule is strictly so that you should never go into a real plane and say, "I've 400 hours in a Cessna on FSX... I can sure fly this thing!" Because the dynamics of the real world are so different, i.e the weather, etc!

So no real pilot would have much more sophisticated simulation. Having said that the PMDG has a a high fidelity cockpit and full functionality so it is as close to the real thing you might get!

    Thanks!

    pd95 =)

  • @pilotdrummer95 But its still helpful to know how to work this because I want to be an airline pilot. Just at flight school needs more practice and learning

  • @averredude101

So do I! And I have to say this will be very helpful for the future as we will know the very basics!

    =D

  • How do i make it work in the air?? PLZ HELP!!

  • @supersaintsfan31 Because the PMDG is an advanced sim you have to do all the FMC stuff on the ground just like in the real world; that is all the planning, however you can change menial settings in the air. Such as cruise speed, altitude, etc.

  • @pilotdrummer95 Im SO CONFUSED

  • @supersaintsfan31

Try following the tutorial through again, step-by-step and then do the takeoff. It should be easy to then operate the FMC as you wish in the air.

  • Thanks, really helped me out::D

  • Great Tutorial..This really helped..THANKS!

  • @captaim123 No problem =) Glad you could enjoy it =)

  • so when you actually do this flight to PNHL in FS how can you get the MAGGI3 APP without the ATC telling you to do a bunch of heading changes to the runway? Good Job!

  • @ThePiper235 You can just pretend to not have heard the headings ;)

Alternatively you can not use ATC or buy VoxATC which is an interactive ATC and lets you program SID's and STAR's

    :)

  • thanks helps alott

  • Glad to be of assistance!

  • Great video man, helped me a lot :)

  • Aaaah! Thank you very much and glad to be of assistance! pd95:)

  • wow, amazing video

this one helped me the most, especially about flightaware(dot)com.

    thanks so much

  • Thanks for the kind comments! pd95 :)

  • Cool, thanks for your help. Saves me having to spend hours working it out now! :)

Now i need to figure out why when i reach waypoint A, waypoint B doesnt kick in and the FMC starts showing im flying away from A!

  • When you enter the route into the RTE or LEGS page you need to press the EXEC (execute) button to activate the flight plan. This is a complete MUST if you're to enjoy the flight! Hope this helps, pd95 :)

  • Great video!!! Helped me a lot! Made a lot of sense, and you explain it in a way thats easy to understand.

Do you know i turn off the heading hold? So i can turn the plane without the altitude or speed hold kicking out?

  • Hey there. Thanks for watching and rating!

As for your query, you cannot turn the plane manually whilst LNAV or HDG HLD is activated. The only way you can do this is by disconnecting the Autopilot and take it from there. Hope that helped :)
