ripping on a chain like that, im not surprised it broke!! i dont think a snatch strap is expensive when it comes to safety. as stated in the description. "chain broke and almost took out the guy in the back seat and the driver" i'd rather spend a little bit of money on the right recovery gear, than have 2 dead people on my hands..
@BiohazardDingleberry I actually do know quite a bit, and increased surface area (big tires) is a good thing. Thin tires can work well in watery mud,(like this) if the ground is firm, obviously that ground was not to firm or the jeep wouldnt have fallen in like that, so in this case like most, thicker tires do best. Im sure you know (since you seem to be knowledgeable) most people deflate their tires when off roading, thats to increase surface area.
@Jeeptj33s Yeah I'm an idiot and that's why the chain breaks in this video, right? Pull your head out of your ass. Just don't break the chain while you're doing it.
Your down south rednecks are really dumb. What happened to common sense in TN? First, don't use a chain or load strap to perform a recovery EVER! The driver of the jeep was lucky that didnt hit him in the head. So is the driver of the truck for that matter! Second, never have bystanders that close to the recovery danger zone. That chain couldve popped off and nailed that guy standing next to the truck. Third, learn how to offroad! Ive been through worse shit then that in a stock xj.

Question... why not use a couple of recovery straps instead of the more brittle chain?

Wow -- rednecks, grinding wheels that are already stuck, and jerking on a tow chain. The lack of intelligence is astounding.
