Thank you for this wonderful tribute to a truly special musician, artist, and entertainer. I had the pleasure of of getting to know Lenny Dee and he was the most warm and gracious man and a truly huge talent. The ability he had to embelish a medley coax rhythms out of his Hammond Model A was unique and effervesent. His ability as a showman to entertain was astounding. He is sadly missed by all who loved him and his music.
I've really enjoyed the gramrfone videos! So well researched and thoughtfully written. Great musical selections and bringing me to appreciate these brilliant musicians so much more. Thanks! -Hunter
this sounds Fabulous on my single little 12" Karlson enclosure with coaxial next to a pc (I've more K). I've seen pictures of Owen Bradley's studio with Karlson 15 inch enclosures with Patsy Cline and Johnny Cash.
Could you also make a tribute to Mark Shakespeare? He was a great promoter for Wersi and Dr. Böhm, but he passed away at the best of his career at a very young age. He was a magnificent organist and would have kept the electronic organ world popular in this century.
Aplogies for the delay in answering. Have been so busy. Yes, I can make one on Mark who was a close and personal friend. Have all his recordings and a lot of photos. In fact I have a full length feature video on Mark which I have screened at UK Organ Festivals, so all I need to do is adapt it for You-Tube. Promise I will get around to it ASAP.
Lenny's organ tones will always be a thing of mystery. Even to those who have worked on Hammond tone wheel organs for years. Anyone else would have turned those sounds into something removed and even eerie, but Lenny made them sing and dance for a live audience. It's amazing that his live stuff can't be differentiated from a studio date. I heard some less than studio quality tapes of what could have been Lenny from a guy in Columbus Ohio named Mike who owns one of the oldest Hammond A's.
I HAVE ALL OF HIS MUSIC.HE'S THE BEST. I GAVE YOU A LIKE.
VERY NICE REAL MUSIC .
