  • I can certainly tell the gentleman down below that he is certainly not gay, I grew up with him and went all through grade school with him in Delight,Ar. before moving to North little Rock High school and yes he is one of the best guitar players anywhere and still sings just as wonderful as ever. You guys that write on here should look for the good in a person instead of going out of your way to spread gossip and untruths. God bless you Glen, sincerely Jack Reeves

  • I didn't see it on the side.. Just Played it I Goofed.. Glenn was & is still a good Picker and Bob Wills RIP You'll Run out of Words Prasing Him...... Thanks

  • To be on the Same Show with Bob Wills Would Be an Honor and if You were to Ask Glenn about it The Viedo Shows in His Face and Smile... Sed 'unff but I do Believe a Young Glenn stared out on the Rod Cameron Show Sponsered by the US ARMY... Can't Remember but it was in the Late '50s.He played a Great Lead Guitar don't remember much singing then.... Thanks for Leting us See them both....

  • The Alamo in the background is from John Wayne's "The Alamo" which finished filming Dec, 1959. I was released in 1960. And then there is the "True Grit" connection between Glenn and John Wayne.

  • Aaah-Haaw!

  • @stevier...........what the fuck?

  • Never been a Glen Campbell fan, but he did a great job here. Bob, on the other hand, was known as a pure dick, and nothing I saw has changed my mind.

  • Too bad they didn't show more of Bob. Bet was swinging and swaying off camera.

  • I'm not saying he's gay but he is on the cheerful side.

  • He has Alzeheimers!

  • Wow, how Glen has changed. He has lost all his looks, going bald, and downright ugly these days. Too much booze, naked women and drugs

  • How about Alzheimers? Boy I bet you have a great bedside manner in the cancer ward.

  • Some 'Glenn' facts:

1: A young Glenn Campbell walked into the Fender factory and asked Forrest White if Fender would sponsor him with a guitar and amp. Don Randall (Sales Director) was consulted and he decided not to sponsor an unknown.

2: Glenn was a one time member of the Beach Boys and played lead guitar on Good Vibrations.

3: Glenn is a hot guitar player and in demand for many studio sessions.

  • @HitTrax

Glenn Campbell was only a "member" of the Beach Boys on the road. He did not record at all with the BB and did not play guitar on Good Vibrations, except maybe in concerts

  • @aldridgester Straight from Wikipedia: "He was a touring member of the Beach Boys, filling in for Brian Wilson in 1964 and 1965. He played guitar on the group's Pet Sounds album, among other recordings. On tour, he played bass guitar and sang falsetto harmonies." So, I think when the poster above said "a one time member" that it certainly is a correct statement. While yours stating he "did not record at all with the BB" is totally incorrect.

  • I'll bet you could crack an egg on Glen's lacquered 'do.

  • He was embarrassed to sing with bob wills ? What was wrong with him? This is precisely why he was never considered as a really important country jazz/swing/Pop/rock/rockabilly/artist. Nice voice, plays git real good, but nice try Glenn, you just never GOT IT.

  • @UOENG270 I think you misunderstood me. I was referring to a different tv show, called Cal's Corral. Regarding this performance with Bob Wills on Star Route, Glen has more than once described it as a dream come true, performing with one of his childhood heroes. Glen has never made a secret of his love for Bob Wills, performing his songs live regularly, especially when he shares the stage with his older brothers. Glen also contributed to the 2005 Bob Wills tribute album with I Want to Be Wanted.

  • anyone remember the Barn Dance in Baldwin Park, CA or Town Hall Party in Compton, CA or the old American Legion Stadium in El Monte, CA? lots of great talent & music appeared and entertained many a crowded party night lookin for finding the fun. " Hey, Hey Good-Lookin"

  • Funny - Campbell gets the words slightly wrong at the end. But I think he does a great job on this, and since I'm more a fan of "Western" than "Country," I wish he had stuck with this kind of material!

  • Glen's career is amazing and still going strong! Thanks for sharing.

  • Bob Wills is still the King.

  • Wow! This is so historic and I must share it with my friends.

  • EPIC pairing

    Bob was the best!

  • Wow. Although I am used to getting blown away by rare clips... this is just too much for my mind. Bob Wills AND Glen together. And what a great arrangement, it's really swinging. What do you remember about the music store opening? It would be neat if you posted some comments about that.

  • Wow! What a find!

  • glen was a huge studio guy just before Smothers Brothers made him a household face.

  • Glen does a great job with the Bob Wills classic. Nice to see Bob too. The only thing that makes it sound a little too "syrupy" are the brief (and totally unnecessary) background vocals near the very end.

  • Wow, what a great bass line on this version...give it a listen on headphones

  • what year did Bob Wills/Glen Campbell appear togethera?

  • I met Glen Campbell in 1960. He was the "star" at the opening of a music store in Whittier, CA.

  • @radiobob805 Wow 1960? That's really early. Glen had only just settled in LA then, no recording contract yet. Did he sing any songs and if so which?

Thanks for uploading this. It's wonderful.

  • @lumdeloo my mom remembers Glen performing in the stage band of the TV show "Cal's Corral" which was hosted by Cal Worthington as a music show woven within and through his car sales broadcast live each week right from his car lot at the time Worthington Dodge, before his "dog spot ". Sorta like a musical car dealer infomercial. He featured some really good local talent that sometimes became famous later.

  • @iamrwg2u That's very cool. Glen mentions the show in his autobiography. He was actually embarrased to be on that show and quit it for fear it would damage his further career. I would have love to seen some footage from that show though (but I read somewhere Cal reused the tapes over and over again to save money LOL)

  • This was actually from a country music show that was filmed in 1965 -- Ya gotta love that pompodour on Glen! Bob Wills and the Texas Playboys are surely one of the best things to ever come out of TX.

  • love the quiff Glen
