  • i wore boots to my gym class and needed to borrow shoes.. after looking through a bunch of locker i found a pair of these shoes that fit me, and oh my god are they nice. there the best shoes ive ever wore, i liked them so much that gym class i went out and bought these same shoes the next day. there awesome!

  • 2 people are paraplegics

  • 2 perso

  • are these shoes good for long distance road running?

  • i am a bid of a pronation runner, are these okay for me?

  • @aannkk I would try the saucony progrid mirage. It's built for mild pronation.

  • I love these shoes. I've put about 300 miles on them so far and they still feel great. The lightness is really nice and since I live in Florida, the breathability is a huge plus in the hot weather. They're the best running shoes I've ever owned, keep it up Saucony!

  • one hell of a shoe, durability would be nice though

  • I did three marathons in 11 weeks in these shoes! The best pair I ever had!

  • Holy sh-...

The people running is this video are heel-striking so badly. These shoes better not cause me to do that, lol.

  • @TranceFur not really at all, pretty much all good runners run like that, they arent heel striking at all just watch when their foot actually hits the ground

  • Great shoe, amazing.

  • you guys have to understand that this isn't truly a minimal shoe. Saucony is just trying to introduce somewhat minimal running to the mainstream market. Do you honestly expect hardcore minimalts to be using this shoe? absolutely not. IF anything, this shoe serves as the transition between standard footwear, and minimalism.

  • Guys, once again, heel striking = bad! Who is behind the development of these things that calls themselves a professional? Wow...I am blown away...and not in a good way.

  • Are they good for everyday jogging? I jog apprx 2 to 4 miles. It varies. Or should I get the ProGrid Ride 3? Thank u!

  • @luvpinkhellokitty I have the Progrid ride 3 and they are ok. for such light mileage as you are doing, they kinvara should be alright

  • Nice heel-strikes on the video, guys! Geez...

  • @resbalonso dude that's the first thing I noticed! Every person in that video is heel striking like mad...that's exactly what the whole minimal shoe movement is trying to prevent. What's up with that Saucony?

  • only complaint is the raised arch on the medial side, lose it. also this is a preference of mine but i don't like the ultra-cushy sole. i prefer a more firm and thinner sole, but others may prefer the former.

  • Something I look for in a minimal shoe is a great heel cushioning system. I'm glad the Kinvara has that!

  • How's the durability? That's basically the only concern I have; I don't want to have to be buying new pairs ever 300 miles.

  • @redetrigan

I have a friend who put 1200 miles on his, but he has really good form. Most people wouldn't be able to do that.

  • @Hgreene1130 ha!

  • @Hgreene1130 wtf 1200? iron man training? O__O

  • @hardcorechrisFSU

    naw, just training for cross.

  • @redetrigan i got off nearly 500 miles with mine

  • Love 'em. I can easily do a mid-foot strike w/o scraping my heels. My toes aren't squished together, my feet aren't bound, locked or braced & I don't feel like I'm running on platform shoes.

I run 4-5 miles in my bare feet, but can't always find enough clean road to train bare. Training in Nike Frees & Terra Planas would demolish their souls (& my wallet) in no time. The Kinvara is the perfect answer - spacious, flexible, minimal, but substantial enough to train in & light enough to race in.

  • @proteanview Do you think these would work for a half marathon?

    Thanks.

  • @bigbigblue111 By all means. I've done a half-marathon in my Kinvaras. I'm planning to use them for the 2011 LA Marathon as well.

  • want this shoe so bad. i hate my peg 26's

  • Not too bad. I did try the shoe out, and while it's wonderful for someone who is a pure forefoot striker, it's not perfect. It's still good as a transitional shoe because of the lower heel, but to me and my co-workers, the shoe actually feels like it leans the runner forward, making it great to teach mid/forefoot strike. We've got a lot of runners coming in for minimal shoes, so this will definitely fill part of the niche.

  • @ArkCatox You're very mistaken. It does not lean you forward. The heel-toe drop is only 4mm. What you're feeling is exactly what is described in the video, your forefoot or midfoot has a better opportunity to impact the ground than in a high heeled clunker shoe. It is stretching it to call this shoe minimalist (though as a minimalist runner i have a pair and love them), but it's a very good start in the right direction.

  • @TheBowerbird

Yes it does lean you forward. It has a drop.

  • is it good for aerobics? and trainig? or is it just a running shoe?

  • Oh good, you talk about a minimalist shoe, but then you shoe a video of three people running with awful form, i.e. heelstriking? Really Saucony. If you really wanted to make a minimalist shoe, you wouldn't say things like "maximum cushioning." You don't have it yet, but keep going.

  • @Hgreene1130 actually, if you look closely enough, its somewhat of a midfoot strike. I'm not saying they have perfect form, but its not a full-on heel strike. I actually have a pair, and while I dont have alot of experience with them, i would say they do promote a midfoot/forefoot strike as opposed to a conventional training shoe. However, I do admit the kinvaras wont appeal to alot of minimalists. After all, true minimalism is simply barefoot running. i find it can be used as a transition shoe.

  • @hawknight427

Fair enough. I'm lost on what to wear currently though.

  • @hawknight427 watch again. It's definitely heel striking. The toes are bouncing off the ground after full foot impact...that is the giveaway for sure.

  • @Hgreene1130 this shoe is actually really good if you use proper form

  • @rockinsurfkid

It's better than a bigger trainer, but it's still not what I'm looking for.

I tried it in the store, and it wasn't all that great.

Whenever there's any drop (heel to toe) on a shoe, and you FF strike, the drop causes an unnatural horizontal force on the metatarsals.

Also, the lugs on the bottom of the shoe make it too-cushiony/unstable. Too much PSI on bits of rubber, and thus too much give.

I'm going to stick with my original "Saucony doesn't have it yet" comment.

  • @Hgreene1130 well not every shoe is perfect. but ive already ran in them and my feet feel great in them, and i forefootstrike. you know it really is all preference
