I luv Johnny. The reason I read the book was because I knew Ralph was in the movie, and I didn't know who Ralph was though. But my favorite character wasn't Sodapop or Ponyboy like my friends(I made them read it after I became obsessed.)I luv Johnny. He's sweet and you have to luv him because he has the gang and what he has to go through is slowly killing him, he always manages to seem okay. And he really cares about the gang, just like they care about him.Soda's pretty, but I prefer Johnnycake.
oh and another thing.. to the person who said ponyboy was whiney yeah hes friggen 14 and just turned itt too and if you had his life youd probaly bee likee that too so yeahh thinkkk beeforee you sayy that ? kthxx.

pony keeps running away from his problems. but they're nothing compared to johnny's.
yea but johnny somehow seems more optimistic than pony. in fact he finds a way to cheer pony up everytime. like when cherry asks him about darry, and pony goes, "he sure aint like me. he cant stand me. i bet hed like to put me in a boy's home, cept soda wont let him." and then johnny goes "naw they get along just fine," but pony cuts in "shut up johnny cause you aint wanted at home neither."
of course pony says sorry and johnnys all cool with it. as if nothin happened.

And when Johnny kills the stupid soc that beat him up he acts like an adult and lets ponyboy go to sleep. Thats why i love Johnny so much. And people may think he is stupid but i mean seriously hes deep he understood the poem and ponyboy didnt. and his brilliance by saying "stay gold ponyboy stay gold..."

You're right. Pony can always patch things up with his brothers.
Johnny on the other hand can't reason with his screwball parents, plus the fact he got really beat up by a bunch of drunk Socs few months earlier.
The only brother he can look up to keeps going back to jail.
Other than that Johnny has nobody...

Johnny's got a good soul, and he can endure almost everything man, even if everything is slowly killing him.
But he ain't afraid to stand up for what's right and that's the most admirable trait that can be found.
Pony just needs a little more time to realize things, that's all.
