  • @Thequestionablegamer Thanks for your subscription and for voting for Julien! He deserves to win, indeed! I don't understand why so many people vote for the other contestants. Julien's contributions are clearly the best ones in this competition, IMHO. I guess it's just that many people aren't into a cappella music. Well, their loss! And Julien's, unfortunately, in terms of number of votes. But let us do everything to make him (and cappella music) win :)!

  • Like the way this ended. It was rich in harmony, and very robust!

  • @jarbon5 Thank you very much!

  • @Partyburner You are most welcomed:)

  • That was a tremendous bass... Is there a special techinque you use to go that low?

  • @musicmanSLO Thank you! I sung the bass part in the mornig, right after getting up, because at that time of the day, one is usually able sing lower than at a normal time of the day. This is due to the fact, that the vocal chords are very relaxed and thick after a good night's sleep.

  • @Partyburner It's amazing how ridiculously low you can go - like a basement bass. Myself, I can't even hit a damn Eb2 (if you take a look at my 2nd tag - i go 1 octave up) :)

  • Erstaunlich obertöne und untertönen. Sehr gut!

  • @LilKroog Vielen Dank! I'm glad you like it!

  • OH MEIN GOTT! Wie lang du den einen Ton hältst...haaa...ich hab's slebst mal ausprobiert...es ging nur bis zur 20. sekunde XD

Wiedermal wunderwunder schön!!!! Gefällt mir sehr!

  • @smileOFflower Hehe, danke! Mir wäre auch fast die Luft ausgegangen. Man sieht gegen Ende eine leichte Panik in meinen Augen :).

  • @muckquomp I'm glad you like it :)! More videos are in work, stay tuned!

  • That bass is wonderful at the end... makes me happy every time I hear it.

  • @burningraycob Thanks, I'm glad you like it!

  • nice vowels, and your bass was great =)

  • @austerenight Thank you!

  • this is crazy....but in a good way. :)

  • @skitz1ful Haha, thanks :)!

  • umglaublich!! you're a bass-baritone-tenor-contralto. very unique! check out karin shifrin singing nessun dorma :))

  • @RedGirlCover Thanks :)! I'm just making good use of the advantages you have when doing a recording. For instance, I often record the bass in the morning, right after getting up, since at that time of the day, it's usually much easier to hit very low notes.

  • so when is this collab of yours coming out? whos channel will it be on? :)

  • good!!

  • @krimuka Thanks!

  • Interesting, i really appreciated it!

  • @AntwaanMusic Thank you, I'm glad you like it!

  • nice pipes!

  • @NestNext Thanks :)!

  • Que c'est beau ! Wonderfull !

La voix est vraiment le plus bel instrument du monde !

    Merci

  • Merci beaucoup!

  • And you say your not a bass? How old are you? You are boviously older than I am and I can hit those notes but you say you are a baritone.

  • Yes, I'm sure I'm not a bass. My low notes are weak and quiet and I couldn't use them one a stage without electronic amplfication or anybody would laugh at me.

To hit that low notes as I do in this recording, I had to sing it in the morning, anyway. And I had to set my mic to max sensitivity and boost the low frequencies in post editing, because otherwise it lacked any power.

Furthermore you can tell by my vocal timbre that I don't sound like a bass but a baritone using his morning voice.

  • Great job! This is my favorite of yours! It really is a beautiful tag and especially a great final chord! In my last tag from the other night, I used a Neumann TLM193, but as I know has happened to you also, YouTube made it sound awful!! I uploaded it four times using all different settings, and the audio was weak every time. I just gave up. I'll post a better-quality version on my website later. And thanks again for your kind compliment on mine, too!

  • Thanks, Jeff! Out the videos I uploaded so far, this is my favorite, too.

About the YouTube quality loss: from my experience it's not so bad with HD videos. So I would recommend you to upload your videos in 1280x720 (16:9 HD) or 960x720 (4:3 HD).

  • Wow! Very nice. That last chord was very impressive.

  • Thank you!

  • klingt sehr schön!

  • Danke! Demnächst lade ich auch mal einen kompletten Song hoch.

  • Thanks, your bass range is pretty nice, too!

  • Mate! Nice one! I love the look on your face in the bottom-right corner hahaha! Lower tags definitely suit you more!

  • Thanks, Matt!

My teacher keeps telling me there is a lot of potential on my high notes, too. So give me a few years and I hope I can post some nice higher tags, too :).

  • Bass note at the end.... TOO COOOL!!!

  • Thanks!

  • Wow! I'm impressed! You have a very wide range of pitch, and the quality of your notes is superb! I can't wait to hear more from you!

  • Thanks, I'm glad you like it! And you will definitely hear more from me :).

  • Hey man, could you email me the music for this tag please?

  • nice 'n' warm low tones! loved it

and I did see the slight "panic" look followed by the "wow, I did it!!" face on the bottom right!! LOL

anyway you kept the note pretty steady, well done!

  • Thanks, Enrico! Yeah, I had to laugh a little myself because of that, when I watched the video after recording it :).

  • You're welcome - respect should be shown, where it's due :) What you're describing about your voice also applies for me. Mid-day, I can also "only" go down to a D2 and vice versa. I'll be buying a better mic in the not-so-distant-future. I know that Big-O (I take it for granted, you know who he is) uses a Behringer mic - and I thought that mic, since I've heard that provides an adequate quality at an affordable prize - but I don't know anything about microphones. Do you think I should buy the

  • (...)Behringer, or should i rather choose something different? Hehe, and another noob question: what makes a condenser different from a normal/"non-condenser" mic?

  • Ah, you posted a continuation of your previous comment while I was answering it. I was wondering while it ended in the middle of a sentence.

I don't know much about microphones. But from what I've heard choosing a mic is often a matter of taste. Some people prefer these types of mics, some people tell you the other typ is better. And some voices just go better with certain types. If you want to be on the save side you have to try out different mics.

  • Yes, you are probably right. I should probably try different ones "live" to make sure I get a decent one. I know of a good audio equipment store, when I can tire the salesman by trying numerous microphones for a couple of hours and still not settle for which one I want :-).

  • That sounds like a good idea. Big-O's recordings have a good audio quality, so I guess you'll make a good buy with that mic if it's affordable.

  • Oooh, I never got around to tell you how i love this tag sung by you Patrick. That last chord is so crisp, it gives me chills. And it gives the the urge to do some low tags, though I'll have do the bass really early in the morning to get near that A#1. Can you reach that note throuhout the whole day, or just in the morning or after some heavy drinking ;-)?

  • Thanks very much, Kim! It's rare that I'm able to hit that note, too. On a normal time of the day I'm usually stuck with a crappy D2. But morning voice, being ill, etc. helps.

And I think an important reason why it sounds so "crisp" is that I use better equipment. It's far from professional, but it's much better than a 20,- EUR headset which some multitrackers seem to use. And of course EQing helps, but if your mic doesn't catch the lowest frequencies, there is nothing to boost.

  • Thank you! At the end I was very close to running out of air. You can see a little panic in my eyes on the bottom right :).

  • Awesome!!!

  • I'm glad you like it!

  • Wow! That's one heck of a low note! Lot's of resenance!! Nice!

  • Thank you, Vance! Usually everything below low C sounds like crap for me - even in the morning (at a normal time of the day I can't even hit a low C). But the morning I recorded this I was well-rested, which apparently made my vocal chords relaxed, too.

  • Nice work mate =D you have one hell of a low range! good work

  • Thanks, Nick - I envy you for your high notes!

  • The resonance in the final chord really gets me (with that amazing bass note!) You look a bit tense, though. Maybe move around a bit more and emote with your face.

  • Thank you!

I know, I always look concentrated and serious and don't show much emotion on my face while I'm singing. Well, I guess that happens when a computer scientist starts singing :).

  • 5/5

  • Cool, thanks!

  • Great Great Great! Patrick, you nailed that low note. Subscribed!

  • Thanks a lot, Mike! Yeah, I was very happy when that note came out :).

  • I like it! Your accent is so intense! :)

  • Thanks Danny, coming from you that means a lot to me! Yeah, I bet I have a strong accent and it must be funny for a native speaker :).

  • Cool!

    Ciao :-)

    Nikko

  • I'm glad you enjoy it!

  • man that bass is killing me

  • Haha, thanks - I was rather happy when I managed to hit that low note at the end.

The bass was at my lowest limit, but singing the tag so low made all other voices easier (especially the 30 sec post on the lead, which was still difficult for me).

  • its not easy haha i have the 30 second post but i cant keep a steady tone on it to save my life haha i start wavering in and out of pitch at around 19 seconds again good job man

  • You could try to pitch correct it with the software Melodyne or Autotune, for example. The problem about that is that it usually adds an robotic sound, which might me audible. But if you only pitch correct this one note, it might not sound that bad and many people might not even notice the correction.

  • It's nice to hear the tag transposed down, especially the final chord.

  • Thanks. Yes - it makes the tag even softer.

  • Nice one man!

  • Thank you man!

  • nice

  • Thanks!

  • hell yah on that low note!! amazing!!

You're voice reminds me of Opera singing for some reason... ranges are amazing... plus using vibratos...

  • Thanks! Yes, people keep telling me that. I'm taking classical vocal lessons for about three years, now. But I don't notice myself that I sound so operatic.
