A keeper. Jeremys rendition of Julian Arcas: Fantasia on Themes from Verdi's opera La Traviata is truly fantastic. You can hear it on his Naxos recording called Guitar Recital. What wonderful, beautiful music, absolutely worth hearing and treasuring.
great performance. Cool to see the microphone placements. It's a little blurry. I see the small diaphram mic on the right. Is that a stereo pair? Is there a large diaphram anywhere?
Would be surprising to mix a large and small diaphram mic. Good though to see how these placements totally contradict the standard recommendations, but that is also partly because of the point about picking up the ambience of the church.
I saw Jeremy in Salt Lake City and loved the performance. The performance is like Mom's lasagna - no one will ever make it like she did. I loved the performance. Thanks
Thank you Bonnie for posting this wounderfull videos. Where's the 3 movement of Tonadilla? Are you posting it? I'm really not crazy for smallman's guitar. About the phrasing...well...it's his choice I belive. Great job any way, I wouldn't do better. Keep on posting!
Прекрасное исполнение! Слушая игру замечательного гитариста, с радостью констатируешь, что усилия Сеговии, Брима, Вильямса и других пропагандистов гитары увенчались полным успехом!
Could you please share with us what mics and mic pres you're using? These look like small condenser, maybe km-184 or Schoeps. But then in another one you had what looks like Neumann TLM 193's

The mics should be placed lower. They would capture more bass frequency that way.
This guy is a master player.

no matter, it would still sound like a Smallman...
AlexM1979 3 years ago
Yeah, you're probably right. The basses on the Smallman sound very strange to me.

Great instrument but horrible phrasing

Horrible phrasing? Imo, one of the three best performances I've ever heard. Also with the crispest articulation.

im agree with you... good sound but the phrasing is not so good

are you a Rodrigo scholar? If so post some documents, or perhaps a recording of yourself. same with guitar1050.

Thank you very much for posting this!!!BTW second smallman that I see among the naxos laureates. What instrument is Kivokapic playing?

You're most welcome!
Krivokapic plays a guitar by Marvi. One of our other guitarists, Graham Devine, recorded on a Marvi which was formerly owned by Goran Krivokapic.
