Just because Christ provided the door way into everlasting life by his cross does not mean you are free from judgement, ALL will be judged faithful and unfaithful alike, his merits have to be applied thru the process of "sanctification" and that is why you are not saved by faith alone, as james 2 so clearly spells out.
Eph 2:8-9, all this passage proves is that you cant trust just in your works for salvation, and it in no way implies sola fide either, for without works your faith is dead!

The 'catholic' Christ should have hired a pro instead of doing the job himself. The Christ of Christianity is the Pro. He got the job on the cross done right the first time. And.....He did it for free!

Just because Christ provided the door way into everlasting life by his cross does not mean you are free from judgement, ALL will be judged faithful and unfaithful alike, his merits have to be applied thru the process of "sanctification" and that is why you are not saved by faith alone, as james 2 so clearly spells out.
Eph 2:8-9, all this passage proves is that you cant trust just in your works for salvation, and it in no way implies sola fide either, for without works your faith is dead!

typical arguments against what is biblical, try these incase you skimmed over them.
Luke 12:47-48 - when the Master comes (at the end of time), some will receive light or heavy beatings but will live. This state is not heaven or hell, because in heaven there are no beatings, and in hell we will no longer live with the Master.
1 Peter 3:19; 4:6 - Jesus preached to the spirits in the "prison." These are the righteous souls being purified for the beatific vision.

I converted from Calvinizm to Catholicism because our Savior, Jesus Christ is with the Catholic Church. This is the truth and undeniable. If you are ouside the Catholic Chuch and denounce the Catholic faith, it is apparent that you just envy the Catholic Church. Acts 1:12-15 - the gathering of Jesus' "brothers" amounts to about 120. That is a lot of "brothers." Brother means kinsmen in Hebrew.

@WarriorPriest28 It is entirely correct to say that Christ accomplished all of our salvation for us on the cross. But that does not settle the question of how this redemption is applied to us. "Once Saved always saved" is completely wrong. We all have our duties that doesn't end there. So Jesus died and now we can do whatever we want and just wait for heaven?? that is preposterous! we are all sinners. "Be perfect as your heavenly Father is perfect." Purgatory is God's extension of his mercy.

@rcporras Once saved is completely right. It does not mean that you have cart blanche to sin freely, secure in your salvation. If you are saved, then you have no inclination to so. Purgatory is a silly myth, utterly pointless. Only a decidedly ignorant fool would believe that you spiritually park for an indeterminable amount of time in order to be "refurbished" (by some indefinable process), as though Christ's behavior on our collective behalf was just not quite sufficient. Lose your delusion.

Some people haven't received the Good News that Christ died on the cross for our sins 2000 years ago. No need for purgatory, co-mediators, alternate advocates, or anybody sharing in the atonement through works or any other means. No Christ substitute needed whatsoever! He paid the price in full!
