  • Spider-Man comics has not had a good run after the Clone Saga. It seemed like every Spider-Man story was garbage after that long arc. Hell, and it's not even the stories, Spider-Man himself, the character, got dumber and dumber as well. Making stupid-ass decisions all the time. In fact, right now he is one of my least favorite characters. It's very hard to like this guy anymore.

  • I think if they wanted something that will impact readers they should have let aunt may go. I don't think the mephisto stuff is over though, because making a deal with the devil isn't a one time thing

  • I like brand new day but honestly after much thought, I think it would be best to never allow peter to fall in love again. because every time he finds "the one" and gets close to marrying her, something catastrophic happens and it creates a huge change in the marvel universe forever!! (Gwen Stacy and Mary Jane) maybe he should just have flings with Black Cat and spare himself of all the craziness.

  • Lets be serious now. this may sound kinda weird, but I was a huuuuuuuuuge Spidey fan when I was a kid. Still am of course, but back then this guy was my friggin hero. Now my "role-model" is making deals with a FUCKING DEMON to save his Aunt May, who I didn't even give a shit about when I was like 6. For fucks sake, the woman was already dying of heart decease 30 YEARS AGO!!! Bringing her back reaaally made sense.

  • it suckssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssssss fucking marvel now all the older issues are complete shit (sigh) atleast i still have deadpool

  • Alright so Spidey reveals his identity. Then immediately makes a deal with Mephisto so nobody remembers his identity and he doesnt know MJ. Then when he meats MJ they hint that MJ actually remembers peter but prove that untrue. What was Joe thinking?

  • I like this ark in spider-man, his identity should not be known, the books make more sence when they get to one moment in time.

  • its not that they just ended the marriage. they erased it from happening, so doesn't that just say fuck you to the last 20 years of this series.

  • One of the many things that pissed me off was the fact that Peter was living in this new World like it was normal! All of us fans were in a situation in which we were thinking "Wtf is this?" and Pete was all partying like nothing ever happened. If it atleast were like "Oh my god whats going on, why (the fuck) do I live in Aunt Mays house again and why doesn't anyone remember I'm Spidey" naa, for him it was reality while we were sitting on our bed having the worst nightmare of our lifes.

  • I honestly wish Joe Q would relinquish to the raging fans and once again do a 360 flip and make Brand New Day, Big Time, whatever, a mere dream, and then go back to Back to Black before all this Mephisto crap happened. It's cheap, but it's a whole lot fucking better than this.

Gawd, I'm glad I'm still catching up in 1977 ASM #175.

  • @TheNewFlare yeah had the same Idea because THIS shit completely fucks over about 40 years of AMAZING comic history. They just were like "Oh shit! Bad move letting pete revealing his identity. Lets just screw it all up and reboot the system"

  • @Matriculon Yeah. I thought the revelation of his identity was the best fucking move ever made. We've been waiting for 40 effing years for that move.

  • @TheNewFlare damn right. And now we have the same Situation we had all those years. and now it's even worse. I mean we had people like Black Cat and Cap and the Avengers but now ... NOBODY? Nobody nows his identity? I liked it back then at the start of Spideys career when it was all secret but now ... naaa fuck this.

Spider-Man rules though. Maybe the series doesn't right now, but the character does. Love Spidey. So I just hope they'll somehow turn this over again.

  • @Matriculon That's the good thing about Marvel comics, is that it's more about character than story. Ironically enough, the Marvel stories have as many flaws a human, which is what the very human Marvel characters are based on.

I'll always love Spider-Man, too. He's fun to read, no matter how atrocious his comics might get. lmao

  • @TheNewFlare Believe it or not your comment meant alot to me. I was in a loop about continuing reading or liking spider-man, but now I see he is still the hero I knew. no matter what bastards like quesada does to him.

  • @WindOfSolitude lol Glad I'm able to be helpful once in a while. :P

  • Does anyone like it? ANYONE? No? Thought so!

  • so i wonder how the death of spiderman will be handled... well i guess we'll see in March!

  • marriage is gay

  • It all depends on what mary jane said during the deal.

  • BECAUSE MARY JANE SUCKS

  • It just so wrong, I grew up with spiderman and for this arc to occure, just also the fact that spidey sold his soul to the devil. Joe you can just die.

  • This is embarassing...

This is a comic book for crying out loud.

To quote Shatner: GET A LIFE!

  • I for one thought One More Day was an awesome story.:D

Wow I cannot even JOKE about it......

  • they destroyed spider man bit by bit. I bought the TPB the other day to see what the heck happened. And it was awful. It made spidey look pathetic. I was not pleased.

  • Well its been over two years and Marvel have not written any new or exciting arcs that couldnt have been written while Spider-Man was married

  • one more day' / brand new day was horrible... i would sell my soul to mephisto in exchange for him putting everything back the way it was

  • It's not Peter's fault that he made a deal with Mephisto. It's all on Joe Quesada. He wrote it.

  • @ForgetaboutFreeman I SAW HER FIRST!!!

  • This sucks and him sleeping with BlackCat in Noir. I mean come on! He's supposed to have morals. Did he even feel guilty-no!

  • ...i must be the only human being on the planet that liked this hardcover book, let the hating commence..by the way, its a comic book, its not that serious

  • One More Day was the worst thing to ever happen in comics.

Shit was fucking awful. 616 Spider-Man has been garbage ever since

  • Alan Scott has been married for a LONG time.

  • I kind of like the idea of retcon. Because now you get to see Spiderman single again. From sleeping with Black Cat to a go on a date with Ms. Marvel. It makes him look more like a James bond superhero.

  • Agreed.

  • Spider-man is the worst comic book of all time now. Not only was there no real Unmasking or new powers story, nor were there the other 20 things promised, the character is the worst person of all time. So, it's one series, three times a month of NOTHING HAPPENING. I read it, it sucked!

  • Thank You. one more person who will agree with me

  • your grandmas sister dies when your thirty boohoo but instead i preffer poor and single instead one more day is NOT capitilized bcuase its sucks

  • fuck it let may die is time to say goodbye and GROW UP!!!!

  • look what i mean is someone should do something about this mess that these writers made, stanley should have continue writeing the spiderman story not these stupid guys they messed up 40 years of spiderman comics and this is what we get screw them !

  • guys all of you guys if they don"t get back to the original spidey timeline then screw this and move on!

  • did she read the books?

  • this brand new day story is fucking garbage.....and why did joe have to end parker's marriage?????? they was plenty of great stories when the were married such as "maxium Carnage" and the Clone Sagas......now i pick up this brand new day comic and see this shit!!!! ill choose the old comics any day over this shit....they should recall this whole series...somebody get the word out because this is throwing alot of dirt on spidey's name...

  • What a terrible book. Peter Parker is the worst person in the world now in the worst comic book, now. Plus they promised us big stories about a Spider-man with no secret identity, what did we get? Garbage.

Who cares about this empty-headed character who has no morals or decency and would sooner make pacts with satan than tell the truth?

  • this story lines sucks right now but spiderman has had morals since the beginning

  • Damn, she's smart!

  • I think people are forgetting something. When Stan Lee announced Peter's marriage to Mary Jane, the fans were outraged by it.

And now some of those same fans are now outraged that the marriage is gone.

Personally, I liked the marriage and I HATE it being dissolved, but at the same time, I think for plot purposes and character development, it serves a grand purpose. Especially to see HOW Mephisto's deal is undone. I say don't knock it just yet considering the Dark Reign arc is pretty cool.

  • I dont think this was needed. Truth is I just dont see whyn Joe Quesada didnt establish a new continuity. I dont get why not. People like Ultimate Spiderman, Spider-Girl, Marvel Adventures, Spiderman What If's, Marvel Zombies, Spiderman Adventures, and all that other happy Shit.

  • Well, people are difficult to satisfy, if he did that, then others would whine about it.

  • NOTE What I said abotu another reality of BrandNew Day. IM not talking about the 616 world it should have happened in. Look at Exiles or the 90's animated world. Im pretty sure that compliants are less likely to occur if BND takes point in a whole new reality just like the 616 world.

  • I think that the outrage with OMD has more to do with magically retconing the entire Spidey history of the last 20 years than the fact that the marriage is ended...

Even people that didn't liked MJ hated he fact that Spidey made a deal with Mephisto...

  • True, I would have preferred Tony Stark being the metaphorical devil.

Apparently something big is gonna happen in Spiderman #600 whether it involves Mephisto again or not, remains to be seen.

Although, I'm currently interested in the storyline "American Son" which involves Petey and Osborn.

  • Yep! Joe Quesada and his team have also ruined the child-like nature, longevity, youthful love with Mary Jane, and good, clean qualities of Spidey. No Editor-In-Chief and writer should mess with any of those things concerning Spidey that people look up to and definitely not Mary Jane Watson as well. She's best character along with Spidey.

  • Hockeyguy19mtm and Idude893: Great posts! I'm glad that there are other people besides me that are against that sad excuse for a comic "One More Day" and "Brand New Day". They are embarrasements to even look at. Plus, I don't like another fact that what is hanging over Brand New Day is Peter Parker and Mary Jane Watson are allowing themselves to be deceived and brainwashed by Mephisto or Satan. I wish that someday "One More Day" and "Brand New Day" comics would be removed from history for good!

  • Brand new day is a joke.

I quit buying that crap long ago.

  • They actually dealth with the unmasking in Avengers The Initiative right after Civil War in a good way. The Scarlet Spiders used their shapeshifting abilities to look like Peter Parker in public which made people doubt whether PP was the original Spider-man. With that on top of WMD in Iraq, people thought it was a government hoax. makes more sense than Brand New Day retcon. I don't know why tthey didn't keep it.

  • Although I'm not that much of a spiderman fan, I read that issue in the library, and it's the biggest mistake in graphic novel history

  • I just can´t believe that mostly of Marvel Comics are well written, check out Daredevil´s last issue, 116 that is good reading, good writing. Instead the make Peter Parker a hero for, well, Nickelodeon and Cartoon Network audience. I´m not trying to be offensive here but, it´s a cartoonish version of the character. Not a single serious point is made in the storylines preceeding One More Day.

  • Tobey Maguire does look nerdy, but not ugly nerdy. Kirsten Dunst has the perfect personality for Mary Jane Watson but isn't beautiful like the character in the comics. KD is somewhat attractive.

  • Lastly, Peter Parker isn't handsome for Mary Jane to totally fall madly in love with him, but in the 70's John Romita drew Pete to look somewhat good-looking and now in the comics (apart from the movies) Pete doesn't look plain or ugly at all, but isn't handsome. MJ should still like him for being somewhat attractive. Talking about the comics: He never looks like a nerd compared to how he looked when he was a teenager.

  • One more thing: Joe Quesada's favorite super-hero is Batman and he's trying to make Spidey, who is better and cooler than Batman, as dull, boring, lonely, sad, and pathetic as Bruce Wayne. The idea of Peter Parker getting the perfect, hottest girl in the world Mary Jane Watson is the best dream ever. That doesn't happen with Superman or Batman. Clark couldn't end up with Lana Lang who is the perfect match for him and is much hotter than Lois Lane.

  • Aunt May dying was tragic, but she was very old who lived a long good life and it would be alright for her to move on. The Spidey team should have just had Silver Surfer somehow cross paths with Peter and heal May with his power-cosmic since it would work and he could have possibly erased the memory of Spidey unmasking from the world. Surfer has psionic, telepathic, mind-altering abilities so removing a memory like that is not impossible even for him. Or some other super-hero could heal May.

  • Plus, realistically Mephisto or Satan can't erase memories from peoples' minds and can't change the time-line that God/Jesus controls since Satan doesn't have god-like powers. For Joe Quesada and his team to make Mary Jane sleep with other guys and not care for Peter Parker in the new Brand New Day story arc makes her a slut and a whore. Mary Jane Watson really isn't any of those things and she wouldn't sleep with other guys because of her love and friendship with Peter.

  • They have made Mary Jane and Peter Parker lose their ethical morals. Marc Guggenheim said in an interview that he pitched the idea to the team involved in "One More Day" to have MJ raped then murdered. That's very low for him to say something like that, I don't care if she's just an imaginary character like Peter Parker/Spider-Man. I will never read any other Spidey stories except for Marvel Adventures: Spider-Man, Ultimate Spider-Man, and some Spider-Girl comics.

  • WindOfSolitude, yeah your right about that Spider-Man is Spider-Man to a certain extent, but making a deal with Satan is sinfully wrong by any levels and standards, including christian standards. Love and Marriage is Important, Valuable, and Meaningful. True Super-Heroes and their wives or girlfriends DON'T make deals with the Devil period. Joe Quesada and his so-called "Spidey-braintrust" team are untrustworthy and unworthy to helm any Spidey stories period.

  • Totally right. How come a guy thatnis always talking about power and responsability suddenly decides to do the wrong thing (i mean the fact this guy comes from hell must give you a hint that he is up to no good) What kind of hero is that? imagine Batman or Daredevil or Superman making this deal. Fans would ahte them. What image are they giving?

  • Thanx for replying to my post. I'm glad that you're also on my side against One More Day and Brand New Day. What's kinda funny is that when the first Spidey movie came out and on Bravo channel an Official Super-Hero tv special with interviews with Stan Lee, writers/artists, and comicbook celebrity fans said that Spider-Man was ranked as the #1 Super-Hero Of All Time with Superman at 2nd place and Batman at 3rd place; Joe Quesada was out of touch, careless, and had no idea about the move he made.

  • You have a third Ally. I DISAPPROVE OF One more Day. Im not buying the book anymore. If anything Im just a visitor to the title on occasion. Just cause You see people like Ghost Rider make a deal with Mephisto How can Joe Quesada justify Spidey Making a deal with Mephisto. HARRY FREAKING OSBORN SHouldnt even be alive. WEBSHOOTERS, Just when i was getting used to life Without them. You watch DComposes One More Day Review. Hes got a point to his review.

  • I completely agree with that opinion.

  • I really don't give a damn about what you marvel critics have to say. spiderman is spiderman. I mean when I think about it maybe it was a good idea they remade his history, I didn't like the fact that everyone knew who spiderman was.

  • Man, it's crap, crap, crap.

  • Lets get it out there. How many ppl genuinly had a real problem with them being married. How many ppl had it back when it actually happened, not that many evidently as they stayed that way FOR 20 YEARS. This is a fandom that could persuade STAN LEE himself to make MJ Pete girlfriend instead of Gwen, who could get Peter 2 b the real Spidey in the Clone Saga. If they hated them being married so much then it would've ended a long time ago.

  • U can get real adolecent Spidey from Ultimate Spidey where he is in High School. U want to make it like the mvies right? Then how does SPLITTING THEM UP when they r together in the films make any sense. WHY did Norman OSborn kill Gwen if he didn't know who Spidey was, that was something that was b4 the FIRST 50 ISSUES 4 god's sake, that WAS in the movie.

  • JOe Q is a fool 4 doing this. I reckon it will change again into something that is more satisfying, like they'll get back together but maybe not get married as a compromise. I say the future will become something like MC2. I just think this is the single dumbest Spidey story ever told, a bussiness decision that isn't gonna really work just like Back in Black was 4 Spidey 3. 4 that they shoud've just done a story set in the past where he is wearing the BLack costume.

  • I think the relationship is too popular that they'll stay apart forever. I hate Brand New Day bcos of One More Day, but I recognise that is from no fault of thier own, good luck to them. I don't think there is anything wrong with retcons so long as u a) don't rely on them and b) know WHAT THE FUCK u r DOING. .

  • So much stuff doesn't make sense now its ridiculous. Post Crisis DC was fine cos it wasn't just that it was around 4 50 years, but bcos it got too confusing witht the whole Earth 1 Earth 2 thing, so that was a retcon well deserved.

  • first of all to the girl in the grey vid: dont use big words

  • Have you guys played ES4:Oblivion. The writers probably did. Anyhow, the Gray Fox had a cursed mask that erased his existence from history. People couldn't recognise who he was even when he told them. He was a stranger when he didn't have a mask on and only recognized as the Gray Fox with it on.

ANyhow, I think no one recognizes Peter he may have been split into seperate people. Both MJ and Peter could have been split into multiple aspects of their minds.

  • THink Superman when he has split into multiples or Bruce Banner. Peter and MJ could be cursed... souls divided into seperate entities or something. In order to live many lifetimes at the same time or something like that.

THis could also explain why no one remembers who Spiderman is. That's because the man they saw as Spiderman is now multiple people.

Isn't that what all superheroes want? A normal life along w/ a normal life. Mephisto gave them the multiple lives they wanted to live.

  • What's happening to Marvel Comics today?

Captain America died on a cheesy way (a bullet, come on), Ghost Rider turned to be an Angel instead a Demon, millions of mutants lost their powers, Ironman became a dictator, many characters were Skrulls and we didn't have a clue about that =(...

And of course, this... Peter deciding her near-death aunt was more important than his marriage and daughter (and children in general), and making a deal with the devil for a selfish reason =(

  • I totally agree with the guy in the middle and on the left. Why does erasing the marriage totally change the continuity of the books?! I mean Harry O's alive again come on, I need a better explanation/reason than that! Also peter has been through so much in his life. Uncle Ben, Gwen Stacey and all his adventures as Spider-man he has deep scars and he has learned from them and become stronger. But give the man something. Aunt May is so old. Give Peter some shred of happiness.

  • I guarantee there is going to be a twist to this one more day storyline.

Bobby Carr... hmm. I wonder. MJ said Peter hit the jackpot. What if Bobby Carr and Peter Parker turn out to be the same person?

  • That's the same thing I think about Carlie Cooper and Mary Jane...

  • Joe, your spider sense must be tingling.

  • I hate to say this, and I don't want to sound mean, but Aunt May is a old woman. And I get he wanted to save her, but he should have stayed with MJ.

  • God dammit, isn't that what they have the Ultimate universe for? I haven't bought any of the new issues all year because of OMD/BND. When I want to at least keep up with what's going on (and I'm in the mood to piss myself off) I'll download scans.

  • shoudl have killed one of the characters off as a twist svae aunt mj dies save mj aunt dies

  • Aunt may should have died... spider-man should have evolved further from the back in black arc where he might even try to kill fisk or something... not mega devil retcon

  • Intellectual laziness indeed... read spider-man 616 anyway for like three years straight... the other, civil war, back in black... gone... fucking gone... not to mention like twenty years of other shit

  • When you consider it, the whole thing probably would have resulted in a completly alternate universe.

  • Amazing Spider-man is an insult to fans, MJ is as important to spiderman as the radioactive, genetically enhance spider.

Quezada is retard, so he thinks everyone will like this retards story... stop buying spidermans comics...

  • Amazing Spider-man is an insult to fans of the character. They introduced things one after another that were not going to pay off, why didn't they do this 'unmarriage' thing two or even five years ago? Why the silly new costume or the 'death' or the 'unmasking' if they weren't going to even atempt a decent story out of it? It's just a slap in the face and empty promises. Not to mention, Peter Parker in this BND book is just a guy who would sell out anything to get what he wants.

  • Doesn't it seem kinda funny that the only issues of Brand New Day that got critic approval were the ones that featured MJ? That proves my point that it's just so hard to just get rid of something that Spider-Man fans like myself have enjoyed for the past 20 years. Don't get me wrong, Peter was likable as a single character, but that was in the 60's & 70's, and those days SHOULD BE OVER! The marriage should come back, because Peter can't be a kid forever Joe.

  • bah the time of 1962 it's finish!!! i think this all a shit

  • You know. SPider-Man is fun to read it's good I like the fact that we have Harry Osborn back.

A lot of comic writers have done things cheaply, Hawkeye, Green Arrow, Superman, Robin II, Robin IV, Batman Beyond getting one page of DCU, Magneto.

  • And from bad writing comes great achievements, current issues of Superman by Morrison and Johns are amazing especially Brainiac part 1.

Right now, apart from ASM, Marvel is blowing the potentials of the Ultimates universe [except Ultimate Spidey cause its the best and even better than ASM]

I just hope that, like the new Superman issues [still think he's overrated but with good writing its a different story], we'll see better writing cause the only time I cared for Spidey was on SP 2.

  • spider-man has been horrible since 1994.every storyline they change a year later.the writers are fuckin idiots.

  • the clone saga (shakes head in disapointment)

  • @00dev Even the clone saga is better than THIS Bullshit

  • wow, i've been a spidey fan my whole life and i must say that the whole "day" saga is just ****ing stupid. Has anyone ever heard the term "if it ain't broke, don't fix it?"

I just want to know what this dude was smoking when he decided "hey i know, i'll erase spider man's past! brilliant!" yeah, about as brilliant as the spidey clone saga.

I'm still dumbstruck that they would take away of peter parkers character progress. stan lee must be getting senile.

next, X Men, with no powers.

  • Aye. As mentioned, it feels like it got dumbed down because of the movie. For shame.

  • joe quesada finnally explains the reason in this interview:

    /watch?v=Ez5vtXFWrw0

  • I will not pick up ASM again until they sort this OMD/BND drivel.

  • same here im not feeling anything from the issues right now!!

  • Venom = COMPLETELY WIPED FROM EXISTENCE!!!!!!!

  • The mariage was NOT spoiling Spider-Man, in fact I thought it was awesome. Marriage was the ultimate responsiblity, and didn't Spidey always go by "With great power, comes great responsiblity"? The fact he made a deal with the devil to erase it is NOT RESPONSIBLE!! Harry coming back sucks ass, that dude died, what, 15 years ago? WTF is Marvel thinking?

  • Ironicly it's actually shortened to potential plot arcs for spidey, considering they now have every spider comic as unmarried peter.

  • Hey don't forget about the Amazing Spider-Girl, which by the way is an awesome series. But, they went ahead and started another clone arc, in which Harry's son, Norman aka Normie Osborn, just revealed to Peter that the daughter he and Mary Jane have been raising is in fact an imposter.

  • i would smash that

  • these guys r the best

  • JoeQ completely castrated the comic.

  • I think the idea of getting back 2 the basics for the s-man but they could have done it without the retconning

  • that bitch gets on my nerves. i agree with her but still.

  • I agree completely. Someone who just started reading the comic this year has as much knowledge of the character now as someone who has been reading for 20 odd years. What was the use of that 20 years of fandom? I say it again, BAH!

  • thats it from me

i heard about it and thought they were jqing

  • brand new day suckS!!!! 18 years of reading spider man goes to the toilet!!!!

  • Just don't throw all yer valuable books at the wall thinking they will be worthless now.

Hehehe, Erislaughs is on Pulp Secret!!!!! Hire her today!!!!!

  • LOL of course no!!!

  • It is lazyness on th writers part to "magically un-do" everything.

  • you all have been duped buy joe Q. the loss made by OMD wasnt mary jane. it was erasing the fact everyone knew who spiderman was.

they did that because if everyone knew who spiderman is, it would take some original writeing.peter and mj will be back together,

that much obvious or he woulda killed her.

Joe Q knew if he broke them up nobody would notice or care about him undoing spidermans newley know indentity. and none of you did.

  • im on issue nine of tht

  • With the whole unmasking thing, they could have just said that Spidey never unmasked. Instead he joined Captine Amercia from the start. I mean, if it wasen't for both Aunt May and Mary Jane convincing him, Peter never would have unmasked in the first place.

  • They also could've had it so that the Spidey who unmasked in Civil was actually a disguised Skrull who got shot and killed.

This very thing happened with Elektra in New Avengers, and it makes the circumstances of the unmasking much more believable. Besides that, it helps set up the storyline of the Skrulls silently invading the ranks of Earth's heroes, which is an event going on right now with New Acengers.

  • What bugs me is sure they all forget who spider-man is, but what about all the videos and print etc of him? Did Mephisto wipe it all out? How about all the battles Spider-man won? Because of that things happened in a chain reaction to it. Is that all undone? People alive now should be dead and visa versa... it's SOOO FRUSTRATING!!! GRRR

  • I don't get this! I remember when Amazing Spiderman #532 and Spiderman revealed his identity and no-body liked it. Everywhere I looked people were saying, 'Spiderman revealing his identity is a bad idea.' So Marvel decide to change it back and you're still not happy. I don't get it, (even I don't know what you're worried about. Marvel will change it back anyway.)

  • We want Spider-man with a secret identity, but in the same time and not erasing over two decades of continuity just to please the editor in chief who despised Peter & MJ as a married couple. We want them married and Spidey masked even with the civil war, not a public knowledge for an identity

  • They shouldn't have made him unmask in the first place. It's far more interesting when the superhero has to hide his identity while fighting crime and what would be the point in wearing a mask now with his identity made public?

What made it worse was the fact that he changed his mind about siding with Iron Man making it even more pointless and the writers kept on digging themselves a hole by making spider-man a fugitive and nowhere else to run.

Was inevitable somethin outrageous would happen

  • There's got 2 be away to bring them back together God has obvisously taken part in One More Day and if he did it before he can do it again, why didnt he let aunt may die shes old and she doesnt do anything.I dont think Mephisto can afecct god in the comic, mabye he'll send down an angel or give them a vision, but now i just relized MaryJane has her memories still so i dont know mabye she'll tell him he wont believe her and then he will i dont know.

  • Trust me...if there's someone who can turn this retcon into something amazing, it's gonna be Dan Slott.

    he's AMAZING!

  • bnd is all right but spiderman was killed from omd

  • Wouldn't it be easier to create two branches of Spidey Comics. One following Stan Lee's original idea and the other to satisfy Joe Q's stupidity?

  • There already is, more or less. Ultimate Spider-Man

  • thts amazing spiderman not ultimate

  • Yeah, I know. I'm talking about ASM before one more day. I referred to Ultimate Spidey because he's not married there (he's still a teen, if I remember right), so that would've fit Quesada's version of Spidey better. Not that HIS version means shit to me, anyway.

  • huh wat are u onna bout

  • i think what he's tryin to say is he's not married in ultimate which is a retelling of the spider-man story so the asm don't need to be single

and that brand new day looks like it's going to be a retelling of the asm

    at a guess

  • Yup. You hit the nail on the head. Basically, Quesada is making a redundancy with ASM, which doesn't help the Ultimate universe.

  • Why did Stan Lee let Joe Q. ruin spider-man? I simply cannot believe that the creator of the character would've let his creation be plunged down the drain just to satisfy the EGO of one Joe Q.

  • My thoughts exactly.

About Two brnches of Spidey Comics is a cool idea. :)

  • Way to go man, long live spidey!

  • I lately read OMD and marked it as pure crap.

Now I read classic comics (from first till late 80's taking a gap off the 90's because of how spidey costume looked) and watch the cartoons and movies, I also play Spider-Man video games from this millinum.

  • Joe Quesada has shown no respect to the Marvel at all House of M is a ploy for the xmen movies, He is a foolish EIC and If Stan Lee wasn't so busy doing cameos in the movies he would take back his company if he was a real man. What the heck does Mephisto have to do with Spider-Man if Ghost rider isn't around

  • hey everybody why won't you just create another comic brand like I,m doing make better stories and Marvel will die Jack Kirby is turning over in his grave about what has become of his friends Company

  • I'm enjoying BND. Like everyone else, I don't like all the continuity mix ups, but as far as the stories go so far I'm really enjoying it. In fact it made me realize what I like so much about Marvel. Each comic series has it's own personality. Leave the uniform continuity to DC. And as far as ruining previous storylines for fans. You own the old issues. you can read them any time.

As I said I'm enjoying it, but I'm not giving my final verdict yet, like so many other fanboys obviously have done.

  • Brand New Day just makes me think theres no point in following these characters because any progression or growth they go through is just going to get wiped out.

  • I hate Brand new Day...it's insulting to the long time fans. Shame on Joe Quesada, he's better than this. i have stopped buying new Spider-man comics, which sucks 'cause he's my favorite hero and comic. Thanks for ruining my favorite hero, Marvel!

  • it was crapcrapcrapcrapcrap

  • I don't need my Spider-Man characters to resemble their movie counterparts. I want Harry to look like the Harry of old and I want him to remain dead... His death was the main reason that his father returned from Europe. His death had meaning since he finally overcame the Goblin Legacy and died a hero. Now this story is invalid. As is much of the past 20 years because the so called "Super Writers" got lazy.. It's easier for them to write about old ladies instead of hot red heads.

  • A retcon is never the solution. I agre, it is lazy, but besides that, it is obvious that Joe Q. and all of his group apparently, wants spidey to be as he was when he was a kid. Probably early 70´s. It´s unbelievable how Marvel has destroyed the most remunerable character they have (economicly speaking) and they have make wonders with other characters like X-men and Daredevil.

  • You guys were too nice and you know it. This really throws it in our face that comics are not for adults.

The unspoken truth is that if they are will to toss out 20 (or so) years of continuity that the fans have come to love so casually with a character as important as Spider-man, they'll do it with ANY character. Thus, reading comics is a waste of time.

I cancelled all my subscriptions but Powers and Punisher(MAX) after this stunt...and even those are hanging by a thread.

  • Worst story ending in the history of Spidey, pathetic, I have been reading spidey for over 20 years and I am ending my subscription. I don't want to re read the same stuff re-hashed again and again. It is such a shame as the title was heading in a very interesting direction.

  • its the new clone saga

    ugh

    i gave myself the gibblies

  • Yet one more vindication for my having dropped every Marvel title.

  • Des24man is onto something here: the only comic worth publishing by the House of Ideas is Spider-Girl. Tom Defalco is the only 'true maestro' amongst all these 'glorious modernday mice'. You over realistic fanboys made this bed, now lie in it and shutit! But please, all of you vermin keep yer mits & opinions off May Parker (and Tom D) - that goes for you TOO, Joe Q!!!!!

  • SPIDERGIRL i see the real spiderman comic is within spidergirl dont like what happen to spiderman, take a look at spidergirl and see a character develop into a man with kids. spiderman grown up and force to have his child follow his footsteps. doing whatever he can to stop his daughter from being spidergirl. it is time to see the charcter grow up!

  • Put very simply if you don't like this new direction, which I don't. Don't buy the books. If the sales for spiderman drop off badly enough I'll be willing to wadger that mephistio's spell will very quickly be undone.

  • I hated it. Simply hated it. Harry back?? Come on... The ONLY good thing that Peter had was MJ .Aunt May ad already accomplish her goal, she made a man out of Pete. Why does it has to go on and on?. Nobody would prefer her dying old aunt over his hot kinda mature wife whose been way more ssuportive that May, because of the age.

  • HEY GOD DAMN IT WHY DIDNT YOU SHOW MY REVIEW OF BRAND NEW DAY !!!! T_T i get no respect I tells ya...

  • for you. watch my brand new day review

  • When Joe Quesada said he wanted to make Spider-Man more identifiable, did he meant more identifiable with HIM? I mean is Quesada a 4X-year old unmarried loser who still lives with his mom?

  • Thanks for another nice the Stack ep. Good work.

  • Quesada my vote for Douche Bag of the year!

  • He may unthrone John Edwards as "Biggest Douche in the Universe!"

  • I don't know if BND is good because I found the changes and the way they were made, too offensive to forget. There was NO REASON good stories couldn't be told with Peter and MJ married.

Ironically, I came to Spider-Man comics because of the movies. I've read about Peter moving out, single, can't get a date, yada yada. All stories that apparently they want to rehash. Except of course the one I liked the most, which was the marriage. THAT will NEVER happen.

So why go on. I'm done.

  • Bah, if people wanted to read a rehashed story they'd read Ultimate Spider Man. It just feels like there is no true Spider Man story anymore.

  • I never understood why the writer of Babylon 5 got to do whatever he wanted except for two things in Spider-man, and now none of them happened.

  • I don't believe they had to bring someone back alive to end the marriage.

Marvel went thru alot of sh*t to get people to warm up to the idea of MJ & Peter getting married in the first place.
