  • Please, has anyone of you this song complete? how is this song called?

  • fact that Roma people come from India, Romani language has close ties with Western Indian languages. the word "gypsy" is due to misunderstanding of Roma people's origin. ppl of Britain thought they're from Egypt therefore dubbed em "Egyptians". not an accurate statement. Romania and Romanians also don't have anything to do with Roma's, the similarity of the names is a coincidence, even though Romania has one of the greatest Roma minority culture worldwide.

  • @helloimlulu u are a fine hell of a finder on google.

  • @helloimlulu what proofs do u have? GOOGLE? read some books.

  • SZUKARES

  • Viva Valachija

  • To everyone who claim they came from Egypt...Do they look black to you?? Roma's did not label themselve gypsy, others did.

  • ...nobody cares about gypsy culture...everyone is affected by gypsy crime

  • hihì_ÁÑYöNè_wÅNÑä_chÀt_wìth_mE_í_fêEl_sÔ_lóÑelY_toÐâý╚

  • in old times people were afraid to get close to gypsies, they thought gypsies were savages and dirty people, gypsy people tried to make these people understand that they were humans too, they kept saying that "we are roms" -rom mean "human" in an gypsy language"- its why people started to call them "romans" and novadays people thinks that gypsies are from romania, but its absolutely not true, most of the gypsies came europe from afganistan and pakhistan in sme sources it say india its also true

  • my bros, the gypsies are the arian tribes returning home.

  • the warm love you can see between the old woman and the man at the end, so touching, I love gypsies

  • @mysteriousDSF and they are since more than 600 years are with us!

  • let me put in a word as an example that fits the topic - I am Hungarian, not Roma and I love the Roma culture, I respect Gypsy people and I have so many friends amongst them. I absolutely have no bad prejudice against them. I felt as a must to express my state to show there are people like me, not all Hungarian are racists though very much of them are, don't hate Hungarians, respect Hungarians, hate racists! Wish there were Roma-Hungarian friendship indeed...

  • @mysteriousDSF

    RESPECT!

  • @mamaschannel1 thanks :) I love gypsies

  • You have just Been visted by dr suess , count down from 10-1 when time is up make a wish and your wish will come true . IF you send this to ten other videos within an hour

  • This theory that Gypsies are entertainers from India and Persia is so fake. They were craftmen,horse-raising nomads and agricultural workers, maybe a thousand or so from millions are craft musicians. They are musically assimilated in the countries they live in.Great performers but NOT original composers.Romanian folklore is ancient and pre-ancient and owes little to Gypsies as composition.Gypsies owe a lot to Romanian folklore they perform in Romania.

  • Veszett I'm a gypsy an I have an iq of 167. How can you say that? Racism. Dimlow gorger :)

  • bravo, prala. ; )

greetings from a rom (human) in germany.

  • @jokeren8

You doesn't seems to me like an intelectual. :) If you are, you are not a gipsy, but human, with gipsy roots only, a roma, not the same thing...

  • this is a romanian ballad , not gypsy

  • unde e asta romana mai desteptule?:))

  • din punct de vedere muzical ....desteapta....e o doina pur romaneasca.....cu versuri in tiganeste....dupa vreo 15 ani de cantat folclor cred ca imi permit si eu sa zic asta....

  • I lived Gypsy families 15 years but language too different from another Gypsy . so I speak Gypsy language but mixed like Russian Gypsy language . I am national Georgian .

  • jebem vam mater rumunsku viste prljavi cigani .tumen sen roma melale

  • The term 'Gypsy' is derived from Rroma people being mistaken for being Egyptians. Rroma do not have ties to Egypt.

  • Ignorant, broad sweeping statement that reeks of a limited frame of mind. Did you mean "This is 'a' joke"?

  • @Veszett01 You sound like an idiot

  • @veszett01: Are you prejudice?

  • veszette why are you so prejudice, dont you have anything better to do with your time then bash people and a culture you are so ingnorant about???? if you dont have anything nice to say then keep your racial discrimination to yourself

  • Ok, everything I say about them is a racial discrimination, but when you visit them in Hungary, or in Romania, you will change your opinion. I'm prejudice because I want to survive, it's a basic attribute to a thinking person. And I wrote because this is realy very unbeliveable...

  • i guess the people in the united states treat others including gypsy's with human dignity thats why the gypsys here are civilized, hard working, good christians just trying to live a normal life i sapose in those third world countrys they are treated like dogs so they have adapted a life of self defense trying to feed and protect there familys from people that are ingnorant , unloving ,unkind without mercy or compassion .

  • No, that is because they lost their original culture, like everyone else, who went and settled down in US. Treated like dogs? It is in our culture to be humanist, you dont know hungarians. We controlled them in nice way as long as we had a sovereignity, under liberalist pressure this is impossible. Oh yes, they just defending. Killing/beating for fun, and for values is defense? I dont think so...

  • Veszette i am not familiar with the ways of gypsys in other country's i only speak for the gypsy's that i know and the ones that i know are not killers or evil type people that is why i will defend them . it is so hard for me to beleive that people of my nationality are the way you say but i sapose as with all nationalitys you will find good and evil but i would never judge an itnire race by a few encounters of the bad ones you speak of

  • @chrstianmom Actually, although I think you are basically correct, speaking of the "Third World", Roma in Latin America, -Argentina I know of in particular, do well also -I mean, there is racism in American countries like everywhere else, but it is not traditionally directed against the Romani minority, but at black and indigenous people. The racists in the Americas sound exactly the same when talking about indigenous people, say, as do the Eastern European racists when talking about Roma.

  • @NicosNicosNicosNicos (some of them do, anyway!).

  • @NicosNicosNicosNicos what is 3rd world? who determines it and what is 2nd? Argentina is more developed than many countries in Europe. Anyway, the point here is , you are right, Argentineans hate Paraguayans, Bolivians, and Chileans for other reasons rather than ethnicity. Here in Europe, the Roma gypsies are like the pAraguayans for you. Any nation that represents a threat to the culture loss of another nation will be hated, associated with thieves, etc.It will always be like this unfortunately

  • @Mafs75 Hi.I was responding to"i sapose in those third world countrys they are treated like dogs".(It's old development jargon.I remember"2nd"world meant the Soviet Union).Yes,Argentina is a growing economy while European economies are heading down the toilet.I'd stress that the "threat"to "culture" is exclusively in the minds of those who feel threatened, (basically threatened by the poor and the weak).Micky Vainilla has been writing European immigration policy for at least 20 years!

  • And i've met some Hungarian who weren't roma and had bad habits. In their way of speaking and beeing as a person.

But i didnt judge, know why? Because i didnt know them. Scum. And you dont know the roma people, you made them to what they are now.

Im am too roma, but thank god, im not hungarian. Because you are like the romanian people who are more worst like roma fucking NAZIS, antiromanists and semitists. HURRENSOHN.

  • @Jasha91

"Hungarian who weren't roma and had bad habits."

    You are welcome in liberalism!

Word roma we use only on those, whose were civilized by european cultures. The gipsy is the 90 percent, we call them "cigány", which has greek origin, meaning thief, offender. So greeks are racists? Finns simply shot them, if they start to steal, italians burned them out, with the help of government, in England they are guarded like in alcatraz!

  • she is singing it in gypsy language~! so the subtitles are not made up!! im a real american gypsy and i understood everything she was singing about!! and those are real european gypsys!!

  • yea the subs were pretty much made up but that's ok lol i understoon more less what she was talking about but still thanks for the upload ;D

  • fake gypsies? these r real romanian gypsies, not actors. toni gatlif does that often, using regular people, for the authenticity. and they do dress like that, trust me.

  • it goes on to say that zambila and urza were cursed by their parents to never find a home, to forever wander the earth. hence the nomadic gypsies.

  • romania is nothing to do with gypsies-roma ,gypsies came from egipt and then tthey was in india for some 200 years that was a fiew thousent years ego , cone together with jewish people ,i am polish-gypo and i know it

and thise movie is the best movie showing romanian-gypsies,all actors are not actors.. they just real romanian gypsies.tony gattlif should get a grammy for that movie.

  • Tony Gatliff (Rroma roots) won a prize in Greece in the 41st Thessaloniki Film Festival in 1998.

  • @dawidko80 Actually, gypsies originally came from Rajasthan, India, then migrated upward. Now they are spread out. There are still gypsies in India today, they call themselves the Banjara.

  • @dawidko80

its a fact that gypsies are comming from Egypt!

  • @ak1ra1609 no its a fact that us Rom come from the gobi desert and the himalayas .

  • What kind of song was that?

  • Of course there is gypsy culture and it is not only about Romanian gypsy but it's universal.Gypsies are all over the world. The fact that they are called Roma people it's a coincidence and has nothing to do with Romania, this is their name in their original language called Romani, and they are called like that in their language anywhere in the world, even those gypsies that never heard of Romania.

  • LOL! saying "idiot" in contrast to the rest of the conversation here is pretty self defeating ;)

  • dude if u like gypsis so much, why dont u take them?? Italy judges us 10 years ago because we discriminated gipsis, and when gipsys invaded italy and killed 1 woman i dont know who she was, they all hate gipsys now. wtf? and they arent hating gipsis alone, they hate the roumanian people too ;) its not ower foult that gipsis do what they do !

  • I once heard on american public radio a program with the gypsy band Taraful Haiducilor and sure enough some redneck romanian called in right away to give everyone a lesson how the music they played is not gypsy music but romanian. Another called in & said there is no such thing as gyspsy culture, it's all Romanian. I am sure most Romanians are decent ppl but some of you need to relax and open your mind cause you are an embarrassment to your country. I know there r Italian & US rednecks too.

  • i EINT TALKING ABOUT GIPSY MUSIC IM TALKING ABOUT HOW GIPSYS ACT, BECAUSE OF GIPSIS ALL ROUMANIAN PEOPLES ARE BEING HATED IN SPAIN/ITALY/GERMANY WTF IS WRONG U WITH. COME LIVE IN MY COUNTRY AND SEE, 0 gipsy culture and 100% gipsy theft and CRIME AND NOTHING ELSE

  • yes there is gypsi culture but its a lot like indian culture,a lot of the european gipsy culture its taken from european cultures, wherever they lived they adapted and inspired from it,and Taraf never said that they are playing gipsy music, they said that its romanian folklor, peace!

  • Without gypsies there is no european music and that includes folk and classical music. All major string instruments including the violin and the piano came from asia in the 12-13th centuries when gypsies first appeared in europe. The violin is a form of the arab rebab brought into Italy by gypsies and the piano's ancestor the harpsicord came from the gypsy cimbalom which is a version of the persian santur. All of today's european folk music is originated in renaissance couple's dances.

  • those renaissance dances were initially spread by gypsy dancers and musicians all over europe because they were the professional entertainers. that's why there are similarities between hungarian romanian and andalusian music, same pentaton scale in flamenco and some transylvanian dances. It's called the "hungarian minor scale" but it should be called the "gypsy minor scale".

  • You are quite right about the "hungarian minor scale" because it's a harmonic scale that's used from Romania to Spain and it's derived from the arabic scale but it's not a pentatonic scale. Most popular music today that's called authentic folk music goes back to the traditions of every nation but the gypsy migration is a watershed event in eropean music history and you are right that many of the fundamental elements of eu music comes from India through Persia and the muslim world via gypsies.

  • It is such a tragedy that most people in europe, especially eastern europe do not give due credit to gypsy culture and their real contributions to national cultures because they don't understand the connections between the oral traditions of Indian Classical Music and european music. when Ravi Shankar conquered the west in the 60s you could see rock musicians from the Beatles to Hendrix in the first rows completely transcended by the scales and harmonies. That's because rock is gypsy music.

  • @nijaskija If there is discrimination against Romanians in Italy, France, Germany, etc., it is because those countries include a lot of short-sighted people. If you don't like that discrimination, and you'd be right not to, the REAL lesson is not to behave like them. (i.e: learn not to generalise against an entire population of people you've never met).

  • What a surprise? I have found the ballad?

But it was supposed to be a documentary.

When did the movie begin to be fiction?

  • I love gypsyes, a lot of kisses...Mexico

  • So whenever you see people doing these things you assume they're Gypsies; if you see someone like me you assume I'm not a Gypsy.

The problem is not Gypsies, it's your stereotype/prejudice.

  • So your source is a Turkish comedy film. That seems about right for the accuracy of the statement.

I am of Gypsy ancestry myself, I also have a PhD. I genuinely don't appreciate people dismissing me as dirty and poorly-dressed on the basis of my ancestry.

  • Thank you professor. And where do you teach anthropology, exactly?

  • wow..maybe when the snow falls

    I will invest in netflix.

  • in other words they don't build nuclear bombs and coal fired power plants ;)

  • I am from Serbia and I know that our Gypsies were never given a fair chance. Gypsy children should have protection from the government health care and education. It is shameful to just complain about them and not do nothing to help. They have cultural identity and incredibly rich folklore. If they are treated as a second rate citizens and misfits that is OUR fault!

  • fuck ya if ya don't like gipys i'm romanian its thrue that they are violent and shit but thats its that the society its discriminate them

  • Why?

  • Becouse they are thifs, violent with helpless people and uneducated. You may think that they are romantic and cool, but is this becouse you don`t see many gypsy there, i know how they are, i see gypsy every day. Fuck them all, i wish to sent them back to India of better, on Mars.

  • That song was a ncie little story, made me want to cry, and smile at the same time

  • walk in to a Roma campground and announce that. you are very brave and anonymous here ;-)

no one made you or asked you to come here...are you here to show your hatred?

    ignorant!

  • made in romania rromania :))

  • Name of the Movie id Gadjo Dillo by spanish filmmaker Tony Gatliff (Also Latcho Drom and Vengo).

  • He's French, born in Algiers, Algeria

  • @Youplaboy And furthermore, wiki: "Gatlif was born in Algiers to a Kabyle father and a Romani mother".

  • what's the name of this movie?

  • gadjo dilo

  • i have to see this movie, that's all i know :)

  • ummm shes not saying that at all

  • She is singing a romanian specific from Romania called Doina, its about longiness, loosing someone, like a sad song...

  • it's gipsy..not romanian!

  • hey buddy, the language is gipsy but the song is a traditional romanian song called balada,i have no problem with gypsies and we are not f** rednecks ,they are awesome singers but the music that they are playing is romanian folklor, gipsy music was more like indian music ,they come from india u know, check it out before u comment, like i said they are very good singers and players

  • this is very emotional!

  • "Kardia sou", "Xara mou"... They sounded also Greek to me... And "dobre" like Slavik. So nice song and has influence from the Balkanik Languages even it is a specific Population. Even I have to say, the song has some colour like Black Sea region of Turkey, sad music after a dead person (mourning)...

  • You are right, the subtitles are incorrect. Im Roma and speak fluently, but this song is laced with the local tongue as well. The song is about a young girl who is in love, but forced to merry another man. The choice is not hers, and the families arrange the marriage based on his wealth and her familys poverty.

  • those r the wrong translations i speak dat langueage dats not at all wut she is singing

  • i know that the movie was made in Sighisoara

  • Sambata de sus

  • asta e doina, shi deobicei doinele sunt despre moarte shi necaz...anuway e o doina frumoasa, merita ascultata, mai ales dak shtiti shi tiganeste

  • its a romanian song, this is traditional for ardeal and bucovina...

  • interesting new info, and you know this from where?! I mean who collected this particular song, is there another interpretation by romanian musicians, what is their name? If it's not on the net do you have a CD title, or Electrecord LP number so we can find out if this is true or you are not just making shit up?

  • i listened a variant of the song in a movie about bucovina, gusti record (bucharest sociology school), i think it was recorded in 1920-1930.

  • ce dobitoc :)) cum sa compari ardealul cu bocuvina :|?

  • foarte destept...

Esta film ieste cult.Uitacive filmu Skupljaci Perja,Dom za vesanje.

  • It's a wonderful song. I hear it every day since I saw Gadjo Dilo. And this gyspy singer so calm and such a warm voice. I understand why Sabina is touched. And Stephane is really "jolie" when he says shukhar, shukhar!:P

  • gypsies are the only people who didn't starded wars and they fucking rule i'm serbian and i see alot of gypsies in serbia and they are fucking good musicians

  • and romanians didn t start wars

  • I like to see myself as an open-minded person.

I do not have anything with anyone, and like other people I thought about gypsies that they are just "misunderstood".

This until I saw the real thing.

I was witness to a scene I cannot forget to easily.

  • adrianloan100)cuz u saw!some stupit!gypsy's kill or attack or robb or rapp? u think! every gypsy is like that? dear god! u'ppl! are grown upp in schools!&in the most civiliast!country's but! ur brains&souls&harts are nott working!100% properly? my dear fellow humen!how about the germans!they murdet&fucked up our entaire!live's! my brother is maried 2a'germ girl they have 3kids! we dont hate!every german!is that clear? how about! if amer&france kill romanians! would U'blame ther entaire nation?

  • I saw a gypsies threaten an architect with death because he was late delivering the project of his palace.

I'm asking you how you like to hear these words:

"Motherfucker, if in 2 days the project is not ready I'll come and kill you"

Here in Romania they have huge houses, expensive cars, and did not work a single day. Their money was not made in host ways. The movie is beautiful but this is not the real situation.

  • that's not nice but it's not just the gypsies doeing that and you saw only those guys not every gypsie is like that you cannot compere every gypsie with what you've seen and yes the movie is beautifull but it haves an truthe in it becaus the gypsies are in fight with romanis and everywhere in the world and i've seen allot gypsies in serbia and they rock at musica.....hop,hop!!

BUT OUR"S PPL'S DIALECT CHANGED WITH THE CENTURIES!

  • the words dont match th song at all!

  • your right!!

  • Touching as it may be,the translation is only half or less related to what the woman is singing.I think the accuracy of the lyrics may have been sacrificed for the sake of preserving the effect of the melody in itself.

    Still a good tune,nonetheless.

  • This is a romanian balade, sang in gypsi language, but this is romanian music!!!!!from romanian folcklor

  • no its not its gypsy not romanian!!

  • sorry but the song it's a Doina, a traditional romanian song, sang in Gypsi language...

  • 2Descarcati gratis coloana sonora din Gadjo Dilo de pe S Ö N G S . R O De la 1 iulie 2008 premii lunare de 2000 euro.

  • Gypsies arent Romanians, or Spaniards, Gypsies are Gypsies, this race with no country, they have their own flag, and they are recognized as a Nomad race by the United Nations. The problem here is that we need to stop lookingto our brothers and sisters as rats, we are all humans, and we all have our role in the society. I personally beleive Gypsies are great, with a rich culture and beleives.

  • *stands and applauds*

    Thank you guajira777!

  • why don't we all simply kill each other? all of us. wouldn't that be easier than occasionally picking some other minority to blame our misery on? how can we be so narrow-minded? this is art anyway, it has little to do with reality. there are gypsies and gypsies, just like there are russians and russians, french and french, germans and nazis or whoever else. And the E.U. could help us INTEGRATE them instead of just sending them back. They are citizens of Europe now, whether you like it or not.

  • I live in Romania. I am Romanian. Trust me, we're facing the same troubles with rromani like you are/have faced. The thing is that the rromani you are reffering to have absolutely NO connection with the ones depicted in the movie. Your rromani -and trust me on this- have no culture, no moral values. I see them every day. We can't deny they exist, but instead we could stop generalising out of respect for the few remaining true rromani. Of course, the true rromani are tragically outnumbered.

  • the interpreter in english its not teling wath the woman its zinging his teling about someting ealse i am gypsy of romania and there ita made this muvie,.,.,.,.,.,.,.

  • They sell this movie on Amazon

  • how can i get this movie or see it???

  • There are similiar words in my dialect of Romanese & i cannot reconise the word beneath as being the word spoken.

I'm certain the subtitles bear little resemblance to that part of the song - as the a spoken wordis later repeated, and yet the ssubtitled words are different to each other -this must be an editorial error!

I have Gadjo dilo & it still perpetuates many myths! Ava, it may some of the HEART,but it has too much sexual content - THAT IS NOT THE ROMANI WAY!!

    Oprey Roma!

  • Omg The Sub's Have Nothing To Do Whit What Shes Saying Im Gypsy Romano Yeah Im In American Ny Uh Hu I Speek English But The Sub's Are WAY Off Not One Word Is What Shes Saying Wow
