ok im not trying to be harsh, but a thousand suns was their worst album by far. no question about it. they lost their edge quicky. hybrid theory was the shiznit the meteora was ok, then after that they sucked.
They keep changing up their DJ. They play depending on what DJ is giving them a good beat. The Best one by far is Mr Han. By every time LP change DJ's, they change the theme of their soundtrack. Most of their songs normally blend together like if the entire CD is ONE BIG SONG. But now it just stop and go as they put rock on one track, country in another track and then a trance. How in the world does that help set the mood and theme of A Thousand Suns? It doesn't... :(

Think of how old they are now, and how old those of us who were in Jr High and High School when they first hit it big? wow. I heard Linkin Park was releasing a new album and I flipped out. Admittedly minutes to midnight was a kind of disappointment, but I loved a few of the songs. I was really really hoping for a good, old school Linkin Park album. But no, Linkin park pulled out the tampons and went to town making the wimpiest stupidest songs they possibly could. for the love of god I kept going down the song list and zune and every time i did i died a little. Wow LP fans are really bitchy. Its not like this is a big surprise, Minutes to Midnight went in the same direction, all of you complaining should have saw this coming. Personally, I love this album, I absolutely love it. If you listen to it from beginning to end there are parts that send chills down your spine. From the excerpts from Martin Luther King Jr and other motivational speakers to the inspiring lyrics. Everything about this album is worth listening to.
I understand the direction it's not surprising but for a music junky it's satisfying to know you grew up with a band who is so skilled I listen to everything from death rap to death metal and all the genres in-between do exclude death after everything unless they got death country and death r and b if not I should corner that market e_E

well ive got good news and bad news. good news is that "minutes to midnight" is no longer my least favorite album by them. the bad news is that i barely have respect for their taste anymore. This is not the linkin park i know and love. This is a fucking U2 ripoff and chester sounds like he wants to be bono or some shit.
i have to say that this album "a thousand suns" takes getting used to. but it's a concept album. You have to listen to it from the beginning until the end. hey, they are artists and they want to try new things. So this album is not bad but I hope the next album will rocks more.
Their new album is a shit, i listened all the songs it contains, and i found out that the most of the songs are demo music, guitar songs or pure, annoying screams !
well you can still listen to the old songs if you like them so much more, they are just adding a greater variety of their sons and if you are tired of listening to Faint to 20th time in a row you can listen to a new song and then you can go back again

The only complaint i have is the swearing!! otherwise they are the best band in the world at the moment. But can we judge a whole band by one persons' swearing? Its the sound of the music I love and the vocals.No band is perfect so I have to take the trash with the treasure and try to understand their message.

Personally I haven't seen anyone insulting the band pre-ATS, just a lot of people displeased with the severe departure from their original, signature sound, including one VERY respectful comment from my part.
The lyrics in "When They Come For Me" (especially presented in that manner) are unnecessary and uncalled for. Seen terribly hurt hardcore fans, because they felt unjustly attacked.

But I still dont like burning in the skies after multiple listens. Btw though it is fresh aswell and I'd say why but im running out of space lol

I myself am a bit iffy about Linkin Park changing their style,but I beleive in them and know that every song they make will kick ass forever.I hate to say it but alot of good bands have slowly lost their flare because of a lack of variety in their music.
Everyone's got their perspectives. I agree with brannp66, but I was a little disappointed and had to adjust to LP's shift in style. It took some time, but I will always live by LP's earlier works, almost religiously, but I still do support them and am liking their new track that is out now. i have to say that this album "a thousand suns" takes getting used to. but it's a concept album. You have to listen to it from the beginning until the end. hey, they are artists and they want to try new things. So this album is not bad but I hope the next album will rocks more.

Their new album is a shit, i listened all the songs it contains, and i found out that the most of the songs are demo music, guitar songs or pure, annoying screams !

well you can still listen to the old songs if you like them so much more, they are just adding a greater variety of their sons and if you are tired of listening to Faint to 20th time in a row you can listen to a new song and then you can go back again

the new album is not for the crybabies that have been posting here. it's for those who can understand great lyrics and appreciate the artistic side of the band. it's LP's best album to date. LP doesn't need stupid haters!

Kay guys you need to stop. Linkin park was never "nu metal" or "rap/metal". I mean sure they INCORPORATED those sounds but they were NEVER strictly that. They were completely their own sound. And they are still their own sound. If you wanna know what genre's they incorporate don't listen to what others say and definitely do not use wikipedia. All of that just waters down what they are. They are compltely out in their own sound. If you want rap/metal nu/metal listen to p.o.d.

LP is one of the best bands out there BECAUSE they can change the genre and still have kick ass music.

i auctually quite like there new song catalyst thats out now. linkin park has developed so much as a band. back in the day when they first started to put songs out it was more rock/punk type, the type of music and little things they did to the background music is what made me a LP fan, i think that bands need to change there style a little bit to keep up with the younger generation and other bands, personally i love there old style of music, and hope in this new album there will be some in it.

@slothwater18 -hi,i am one of those fans that thinks ATS is fantastic. they are not big boys anymore,they are grown men who are concerned with the world and what is happening around them.they are also old enough to decide what sort of music they wish to make without being insulted by disgruntled fans. They have matured and as mike says in "when they come for me",everybody wants the next thing to be like the 1st ,ya'll ought to stop talking-start trying to catchup.

@crawlinghybrid2001 -I totally agree,i dont like or use those terms either. some fans have called them terrible things too! what happened to plain old decency. why cant people agree to disagree without totally degrading themselves in the process? you notice i deliberately didnt mention that part-can we imagine how much abuse they have had to put up with....i sympathise with them but dont condone that word. in fact there are enough words in the dictionary without resorting to trashy speech!!

I can't express how much it hurts to see them use this kind of language towards their own fan base they proclaim to love, no matter what some did. It affects everyone. Completely ruined the album for me.
I remember when they first started, they said they didn't wanna hide behind curse words... what happened? :|

@crawlinghybrid2001 - I agree.I am impressed that there are people out there that dont have to stoop to cursing to make a point. I love LP music,especially chesters' voice when singing. The only complaint i have is the swearing!! otherwise they are the best band in the world at the moment. But can we judge a whole band by one persons' swearing? Its the sound of the music I love and the vocals.No band is perfect so I have to take the trash with the treasure and try to understand their message.

@joeythebushkangaroo1 Agreed, just that IMO they're not responding to disgruntled fans, they're CREATING them. Personally I haven't seen anyone insulting the band pre-ATS, just a lot of people displeased with the severe departure from their original, signature sound, including one VERY respectful comment from my part.
The lyrics in "When They Come For Me" (especially presented in that manner) are unnecessary and uncalled for. Seen terribly hurt hardcore fans, because they felt unjustly attacked.

Some of the comments about them are pretty disgusting and you cant blame them for taking it personally-some things so-called fans have said is just hateful and uncalled for. I dont agree with the words mike used but i do get the frustration coming from them at being turned on fiercely by people who dont want them to change. They obviously just got sick of the constant criticisms and abuse.They are hurting too!

They had problems with brutal criticism ever since they first started their career and guess who was always right there ready 2 overpower elitist critics, constantly prepared 2 bash... THEIR FANS. Soon with this purposeful alienation, there will be no more faithful doves 2 defend them when the vultures come for a feast.

I honestly feel that he is probably very sorry now but once its done it cant be undone. I can sympathize-the last time i saw my Dad we had a big fight and i walked out without saying goodbye-he died last new years eve,9 months later.I can never fix it up.Sorry to bring that up but i know what its like to be so angry and say something bad you regret later.

@slothwater18 I thought it sucked ass at first but the whole album grows on you, it took me a few listens, scratch that, A LOT of listens to actually "get it" but after awhile it hit me and I actually like it now, but they are some bad points like why are they 5 frikin interludes! thats a 1/3 of the album that are just 20 sec- 1 min songs. But I still dont like burning in the skies after multiple listens. Btw though it is fresh aswell and I'd say why but im running out of space lol

I myself am a bit iffy about Linkin Park changing their style,but I beleive in them and know that every song they make will kick ass forever.I hate to say it but alot of good bands have slowly lost their flare because of a lack of variety in their music.

Everyone's got their perspectives. I agree with brannp66, but I was a little disappointed and had to adjust to LP's shift in style. It took some time, but I will always live by LP's earlier works, almost religiously, but I still do support them and am liking their new track that is out now. I'm pretty sure I'm going to buy A Thousand Suns, first album I'll be buying from anyone in a really long time.

people do hve a point not liking some of the songs in a thousand suns cause some of the songs in a thousand suns r not them & i was hoping 2 see more amazing songs like the catalyst in the album. there were a few but none of the songs in that album were as good as the catalyst and waiting for the end and blackbirds were okay
