  • 6 people don't remember their first Dime.

  • that must be what chav's looked like in the 80's

  • @aeronuk1 Yeah, except we called them 'shellies' after the shell suits that they always wore.

  • OI! NUTTAH!

  • Oi likes... armadillos!

  • dime bars where popular once. they have gone right down hill. people only buy them when they are trial price haha

  • The best advert ever made. No! the best piece of television ever made!

  • Does anyone know where I can still get Dime bars (not DAime Bars) either singular or multi pack?

  • So this was alright, but Ricky Gervais calling people 'mongs ' isn't?

  • Dime bar, Do not approach if you have false teeth. Luckily, I haven't any false teeth.

  • Eating one now.

  • I remember this!

  • I was at secondary school in the mid 90's and Dimebar (said slowly) was the catch phrase of the day esspecially when doing something dense. Did anyone else reemmber this or was it jsut my school?

  • @flyingdamingo We said it too.

  • @flyingdamingo Nope, we did it too!

  • @flyingdamingo No; it happened at my school, too. For about the next 6 months, the term "Dime Bar" was a put-down for a dumb person e. g. "You stupid Dime Bar!" An unforeseen consequence of consumer culture.

  • @eisemanrenyardjake lol it reminds me of the Tango adds and the amount of kids that were hospitalized with burst eardrums.

  • whys everything in britain got to be playing on peoples accents, all that "toffs and chavs" bullshit, i couldnt give a fuck what "class" people say they are..

  • He is now Consertive MP for Cambridge South.

  • Rather disturbing resemblance to David Cameron...

  • Why are they called "Daim" now?

  • @FyberOptyk - trendy marketing bollocks I think.

  • @FyberOptyk Because after these adverts 'dime' or 'dime bar' became an instult used to to call someone stupid and people eating dime bars usually became the target for a little playground bullying so the name changed to remove the association from these adverts

  • oi nutter!!

  • hahahahha awwww old times...great ad!

  • sorry, my english is not so good, what Oi nutter means???

  • @MrJosh4740 its british slang for crazy person! =)

  • at school people were calling each other dime bars for years

  • when enfield was funny and only coz paul whitehouse wrote most of his sketches

  • This reminds me of a lot of the conversations I've had lately.

  • Love this add they dont make funny adds like this any more

  • Dajm was the original name, guess the J wasn't "hip" enough for the European market

  • its called Daim now, so they don't need to redesign it around europe.

  • I used to love this advert. Always makes me snigger. Harry was funny then.

  • My brother used to annoy me with this all the time years ago saying "That bloke's a nutter"

  • I only remember the last part of this advert, "That blokes a nutter, OI NUTTER!"

    Hahahaha

  • If someone got something wrong at school we called them dime bars because of this!

  • It aint as good as ARMADILLOS!

  • This is when Harry Enfield was actually funny

  • Very Good.

  • ehh

  • i love this, soooo funny, now all we have of dime bars is daim bars, I mean wtf? it the same just they small and come it packs of loads of them and they changed the name for no reason at all, doesn't quite make sense but the adverts will always be classic XD

  • For the majority of people, they've been known as Daim bars for decades. Some places, such as the UK, used the alternative spelling of Dime, but this was changed in 2005 to match everyone else in Europe. It's still pronounced the same, so it's not as though it's as big a change as the Opal Fruits one, or Marathon bars (which I'm too young to remember).

  • In the UK we see it completely differently. People got really het up when they changed ariel future to ariel futur, or coco pops to choco krispies just so it was the same as the european market, as it meant the erosion of the English language just so it saves a company money in marketing costs. Funny though when you look at the names of foreign products as an English speaker. Who wants to drink a bottle of Old Fart beer?

  • dime bars come from sweden but over there they have always been known as daim bars so i guess they just changed it over here to be like sweden

  • that blonde woman is so hot!!

  • I don't remember my first Dime bar but I do remember this advert! That's good advertising for you!

  • hahaha champion.

  • Watching this has me currently in uncontrollable fits of laughter as I remember all the shit we used to do with this ad at school...

  • Me and my friend used to go around the school playground re-enacting this advert!! And the armidillo one!! Classics!

  • this brings back SO MANY memories :P

  • I remember everyone at school used to be mad about that advert, lol! back in the good old days!

  • hell yeah, i remember that, everyone used to use it as the ultimate insult, dime......bar?! lol. oh but is it better than the armadillos one?

  • Daim Diam or Dime?? that is the question.

  • Why did they change the name to Diam ??ps Bring back marathon and Starbar.:-)

  • i always see starbars in mai local corner shop :P

  • what year was this advert out? i dont remember it but i stil hear ppl call it each ova lol

  • Sometime in the early 90s...can't remember the exact year...

  • about '92 I think lol that blokes a nutter!

  • "Thats blokes a nutter...Oi, Nutter!"" I've used that line so many times *nostalgic shake of the head*

  • "DIME BAR" became an insult to thick kids when I was at school i.e you "DIME BAR"

  • Yeah everyone got called a dime bar in our school.

  • They don't make ads like this anymore, all it seems to be nowadays is loan and car insurance ads.

  • harry enfield is responsible for so many catchphrases, you only realise when you watch stuff like this.

  • excellent :D
