Ok here's the truth: the guitar player (apparently Tracey G) is pretty good, seems to me like he has a good metal technique, which is probably what Dio wants. Cmon people don't you think Ronnie can get close to every guitar player he wants? Obviously you need to be able to play.

The problem with this version is that the guitarist plays it at the tempo of the studio version, to staccato and with a wrong tone. If it was sped up and played looser it would sound loads better.

I saw the Heaven and Hell gig too, and he was still great. I just don't think the track works as a grunge number as it is meant to be upbeat. On the earlier comment about 16ths, well Blackmore didn't always do them live and often they were taken by the keyboard. This arrangement is just plain wrong though.

Dio is carrying the band because the rest of the players are subpar.

As such, Dio's shortcomings become more apparent.

Good question: the answer is it is Tracy G. He played some impressive stuff with WWIII - Mandy Lion. maybe not so with Dio, in fact the albums Dio recorded with Tracy are under par.
