hey thanks for the nice tutorial :D dont know what i'd do tomorrow without this to help me! :D i have an exam tomorrow and i studied from ur tutorial :D many thanks for sharing!
Hi there, you said you had already done a tutorial regarding the shadow pass using alpha channels. I'm having afew problems myself with it. Where would I be able to find that tutorial.
This is cool for single image. I need help reducing flicker on animation in mental ray. I havent tried render passes tho, would these render passes reduce flicker in animation?
Great tutorial. Can you do one for rendering layers and passes for a Mental Ray GI and FG scene? Well just showing the common pitfalls would be great. Thanks!
Great and very useful tutorial! thanks so much for posting it!
BUT! I have one problem, it seems that it doesn't work properly...I have gaps between isolated objects, they don't fit nicely like they should neither in compositing software(Toxik) or in Photoshop :(
That smal one pixel gap between those two isolated PNG/TGA/openEXR pictuers are enough to make it look ugly and like it has a toonline :(
Great tutorial... I thought you can change the alpha to all of your passes at ones if you select all passes go to Window, Attribute spread Sheet,... I will have a look later hopefully it will work. Keep up the good work
I just had the same problem as rafaelnubile, but I checked my script editor and I realized it only rendered the master beauty. It created all the other files, but never rendered them. I don't understand what the problem is.
Very important I forgot ... The materials you use with mental ray. There is a list of materials for which the pass works, here is a link for search list ( French Author, type "Deex" to google)
If you do not use good materials your item will come out black.

I meant to say in Photoshop for a single image or some composting software. Is there an order stacking your prefer to put the passes?
ryanjohnsond 1 year ago
Is there an order in the layers you place the passes for optimizing the tweaking (like Occlusion on the bottom, color on the top)?
ryanjohnsond 1 year ago
Is there a non-MR approach to making an Occlusion? What's the difference between your approach and the Render Pass Options in the Attribute Editor?

@usma1000
It may be that the mesh or your or your compound objects are not selected, for example if it is composed of mesh relatives.
So I think the best is to select all your mesh objects from the outliner.
Hope this helps you too.

the first thing I would suggest is to check your lights, and make sure they are on each of the render layers.
