Take some evidence for evolution: apes have 8 fingers 2 thumbs. So do we. That's evidence we both evolved from the same ancestor. It's also evidence we were designed by the same designer. Right? Even if you don't accept the designer hypothesis, you must at least accept there is evidence for it...
I'm sure they believe in a god based on something, just not scientific evidence. I'm sure they have anecdotal reasons. This does not make belief critically defensible.
Your example only shows that there's an advantage to having fingers and thumbs. It's not evidence of a designer, but supports the evidence for evolution theory.
I have never seen or heard of anything ever presented as evidence for design that is not based on a logical fallacy.

It could just as easily point to the fact that we have a common designer.
