  • Sterling Moulding Materials, Thermoset Division.

  • @Ashtonian54 The Queen Mill was on Foundry Street, Dukinfield.

Parliament Street was behind Foundry Street, running parallel to Foundry Street.

The Queen Mill would cast it's shadow over Parliament Street.

  • Thanks for watching. This was filmed by my aunt who died two years ago, aged 89. Wm Oldham was her father, my grandfather.

However, William died in 1948 and his sons (my late uncles) carried on the business, the site of which was adjacent to the Queen Mill.

  • More heritage wiped from the landscape. Still alive on you tube though, thanks for posting.

  • my father worked in this mill making plastics and when it was a cotton mill

  • This looks like the installation of one of several dust extraction systems they had at Queen Mill (Sterling Mouldings),the flat roof was covered in them. The chap in the suite with the moustache in the loading bay is, I think, Ken Goddard the general manager. He gave me a job for 6 weeks just as I had left school and before I went on to more academic pursuits.

  • That was great! Thanks for posting this wonderful footage. 5 stars above, and here's 1 more [*] for a total of 6. (03709's comments and your response were fun to read too) Great posting! Good Job!

  • Well, i was just looking at my farthers past, and i found this site, My farther Harry Gill was the electrictian in this factory, we moved up to the north in 1979, we have very found memories from this mill, and i'm sure we have history, because we were best mates Graham Oldham who had a shop in staylebridge,

  • Hello Mark,

Would you be Vic or Colin's son? If so, then William Oldham (d.1948) is your GREAT grandfather, and William Oldham (Bill), (my uncle Bill, d.1961 son of William Snr., is you're grandfather.

  • fantastic, brilliant.mark oldham grandson of william.
