  • @Kurlando Yes and you know what? It wasn't was on the Dirty Dancing soundtrack at all. I think some of us got confused with the Bill Medley/Jennifer Warnes duet that was on there: "(I've Had) The Time of My Life."

  • 20 years later "you've lost that lovin' feeling" became massive hit again from "dirty dancing" soundtrack

  • Shindig was the best and it was great moments like this made it that way. Where else could you see Lesley and Bill Medley singing eye to eye ? ( The lucky dog !)

  • Donna Loren is on Facebook.

  • Love Lesley Gore and of course the Righteous Brothers. They would perform at our skating rink in Downey, CA. Those were the days!! Just to let you know the girl singing with Bobby at first is Donna Loren. She was great but not around for long. She had a wonderful voice and was in some of the "Beach Party" movies. Wonder where she is now?? K

  • For the record,Bobby Hatfield died Nov. 5, 2003 at the Raddison Motel in Kalamazoo Mich.from severe cocaine toxicity according to autopsy reports. His body was discovered just 30 minutes before he was to perform. Bill Medley was devistated and incoherent..Coke had taken yet another victim.

  • Was that fun or what!

  • Her EYES!

  • Little does Bill know that Lesley was checking out the other babe, not Bobby.

  • Did they steal all these songs from the movie "TOP GUN?"

    :)

  • This is such a fun video! Thanks for posting it!

  • so which one is the one who died?

  • @preciousjey Bobby Hatfield died about 10 years ago I think from a heart attack. Papers said he had drug habit and that might he cause his death. The Brothers were great singers, I'll always get chills with their Wall of Song technics. George in NYC

  • @preciousjey Bobby Hatfeild died from a heart attack due to a drug he took from a concert about 10? years. I love the duo. George in NYC

  • @preciousjey The short one who sang falsetto.

  • @preciousjey Bobby Hatfield's the one that passed on a few years ago :(

  • 'Look of Love' is an exquisite Lesley Gore showcase. Great sequence with Bill Medley looking like the third wheel to Lesley's true affections. Smooth segue into 'You've Lost That Lovin' Feelin.' Lesley looks especially pretty. Shindig represented Young America with one last wholesome, apple pie and fireworks hurrah from 1964-1966 as the teen scene reached its peak. Clean cut Bobby Sherman and lady-like Donna Loren(with a hint of anything goes) set the standard each week.

  • Yes... It all is a reason for to respect America, the West at all and their culture. But the traffic volume makes me stop!..

  • Comment removed

  • Donna Loren, the Righteous Bros, and Lesley Gore, what could be better. Ah Shindig, a great music show with mostly live performances.

  • i love look of love.

on the fact of life check out the episode crusing, the girls sing you've lost that loving feeling

  • Wow. Her voice is really an instrument. She's the only artist in which I can hear every word of the song without it being drowned out by the music.

  • Thanks for sharing this video. My favorite Lesley Gore song.

  • Lesley's album, The Canvas Can Do Miracles has finally been released on cd. It is titled Studio 102 Essentials.

  • Awesome. I remember watching Shindig every week - teenagers relied on it to see their favorite singers. Great music.

  • Lesley's voice still charms me all these years later-- such a talent that, without trying to steal the show, you just couldn't help but to focus on on her only.

  • Look of Love is an under-appreciated song from 1964. There are two versions of this song.....a "slower" version from her Girl Talk album and a faster "single" version with jingle bells added.

  • I discovered 'The Look of love" Leslie is singing with Bill Medley not here ,but on Napster one day , the have all her Hits , i was just browsing, What a great song mabey it wasnt released in Philly this part of USA, Great Melody, i really dig it. And in Reading about her a while ago, I was pleasently surprised to see that "Quincy Jones' prduced all her songs, he was pretty new then, but we all know him now. But leslie was dynamite... many hits, Rock on Girl..........

  • Quincy was at Mercury Records quite a while, producing jazz. In 1963, he was handed some demos done by Lesley, and thus, started working with Lesley and producing "pop". He reunited with Lesley in mid 1970s producing her Love Me By Name Album.

  • happy b-day lesley gore on may 2

  • OK the girl in the video is April Stevens. Her and her brother Nino Tempo had a hit with Deep Purple. The song won the 1964 Grammy Award for Best Rock and Roll Recording

  • Nope...it isn't April Stevens , it is Donna Loren.

  • Who is the original singer from the second song Lesley sings? ("Gee- Baby, I'm sorry"?)

    Never heard it before...it's great!

  • That's "Gee Baby (I'm Sorry)" by the Three Degrees - recorded on Swan in '65.

  • Thanks a lot!

Now I'm sad to not find it on youtube... ;-(

  • Lesley is outstanding.

  • Bobby Hatfield's superbly soulful solo @ 4:06.. Man..!

  • i love these singers such classics songs always heart on the oldies station

  • Who's the girl with Bobby Hatfield singing "I Must Be Seeing Things"??? She's obviously NOT Lesley Gore. (Too bad songs today don't have the substance of these classics.)

  • Her name is Donna Loren, She has quite a few solo perfomances posted

  • Why can't we have talented people like Lesley, Mary Wells (RIP), LaVern Baker (RIP), Connie Francis, the Shirelles, the Angels, the Ronettes, the Shangri-Las. I hate the Britneys, Madonnas, Jennys, and Seances of the world.

  • I totally agree with you Soapking. Bring back the singers of yester-year!

  • Back then the message was simple... Love, Today is Poor Me..

  • lesleys makeup looks really bad

  • It could be the camera making it appear "really bad".

  • Her makeup looks really bad --- are you serious? I can't believe that is the only thing you can say about the talent presented here.

  • id still kiss her

  • See Lesley being interviewed on PROFILES with Mickey Burns. DVD available at Amazondotcom

  • Does anyone have any video clips from Lesley's tv special titled Lesley In Love?

  • Thanks for the info on veefan1963. I viewed the clip. I have all of the videos these came from except for the first scene.

  • You Tube doesn't take down all Ed Sullivan clips.....Her clip where she sings It's My Party and She's A Fool has been up for quite some time now.

  • THEY JUST HAVEN'T BEEN CAUGHT YET!

You don't even have any videos so you have no idea what it is like to take the time to edit and share these clips & have people enjoy them, only to have Dick Clark Productions, Viacom, etc force YT to take them down!

Some of my favorite channels are gone because of these greedy corporartions!

  • I'm sorry if I've stepped on your toes, didn't mean any offense. I totally agree with you. I love seeing these old clips.

  • No I am not mad at you, sorry for the misunderstanding! I am a hot head lol!

This is archiving, nothing more. Not copyright infrigment.

I had clips of The Left Banke from "Action" that were taken down, but a lower quality clip my friend posted is still up after months!

The witchunt is getting old. Most people do not know how to download from YT and even those that do, the quality is awful. Most people would love to have this stuff on DVD, even many of the artists themselves!!

  • Please send me a private email regarding this. Thanks!

  • It was taken down last time I looked!!!

  • It was taken down sometime today, April 10th. I viewed the clip early this morning.

  • This is what am talking about. What was the purpose of having it taken down? People were enjoying it and it brought back memories for people from all over.

Alot of this footage is not available on DVD and people just want to see it again and show it to their kids and stuff. I hate these greedy companies who are ruining it for everyone.

  • I agree. Also, there are many Lesley Gore fans who watch YouTube and would love to have a copy of these videos for their personal collection. We collect any and everything on Lesley.

  • Are you familar with the LP Lesley did for MoWest? I have the LPs Frankie Valli and Bobby Darin did for that label (they where good!) but have never heard anything about Lesley's.

  • Yes, I have Lesley's Mowest album titled, Someplace Else Now. It was produced by Joe Porter in 1972. Lesley and Ellen Weston wrote the songs. Song list: For Me, The Road I Walk, Out of Love, Don't Wanna Be One, Where Do You Go When You Get Home, Mine, Someplace Else Now, No Sad Songs, For You, She Said That.

  • Sorry, forgot the list two additional songs on Someplace Else Now album by Lesley: What Did I Do Wrong, and Be My Life.

  • @liarsclub75 Lesley's MoWest album, Someplace Else Now, was produced by Joe Porter and features all song written by Lesley and co-written with her brother Michael, and Ellen Westen. She took the songs to Quincy however he was not interested in producing an album. In 1975 Lesley took more songs she wrote to Quincy and he produced the album, Love Me By Name for the A&M label. It featured the singles Immortality and Sometimes (featuring the Brothers Johnson.)

  • Wonderful clip! Thank you.

  • This is absolutely FABULOUS!!!!! It's early 1965 AGAIN!!! I had been wanting to see Lesley perform "Look Of Love" on TV, and now finally it's a reality. This is my favorite Lesley song and I thank you a million times for this privilege. Plus to see her with Bill Medley, two huge legends of their day. I also know she performed "Look Of Love" on the Ed Sullivan show, does somebody have this one to post.

  • I had no idea these clips would be so special to people. The only Ed Sullivan clip I have is with Johnny Maestro and the Brooklyn Bridge but YT takes down Sullivan clips due to copyright.

  • That's too bad about the Ed Sullivan show's getting pulled off You Tube...Lesley sang two songs on that show "Look Of Love" her hit at the time and "Hello Young Lovers" the Broadway standard. However, I can't find it anywhere...Nonetheless, seeing her perform it on Shindig was a Godsend. Thanks again.

  • Watching clips such as this, it's funny (and sad) that it took decades for the media and critics to ever give Lesley credit for her vocal talent.

  • Great video! I'm sure I saw this episode, since I watched both Shindig and Hullabaloo back then. Who is the dark-haired girl singing with Bobby Hatfield? Also, could you change the spelling of Lesley's name back to Lesley, not Leslie. I try to attend her concerts each time she's appearing out west, and a couple of years ago she noticed a little girl in the audience holding a placard that said "We love you, Leslie!" and she actually commented from the stage about the misspelling. Thanks.

  • The girl with the dark hair is Donna Loren, she was a regular on the show, as were the Righteous Brothers, the Blossoms and Bobby Sherman. It was a great show. I wish they would put out the complete seasons on DVD. I believe it ran for two seasons. Donna Loren was also the "Dr. Pepper Girl" and did the Dr. Pepper drink commercials.

  • I've been waiting decades to see this clip again. I remember it so well from its original early 1965 airdate. I wonder if liarsclub75 can post Lesley singing the Shindig Pick of the Week, "All of My Life," also incredible. And doesn't Lesley sing the heck out of "Gee Baby I'm Sorry?" What a treat. Thank you so much.

  • I couldn't find this anywhere else on YouTube so I posted it today.

  • I couldn't agree with you more. That song "Gee Baby (I'm Sorry) was originally released by The Three Degrees in 1965, and only went to #80 on the Billboard Charts. Had Lesley released it, it might have gone higher. She sings it oh so tenderly, like only she can.

  • Lesley's face was always so much more interesting than most girl singers of the time and much more expressive.

  • If you're ever foutunate enough to catch this entire episode, it is truly light years ahead of its time and mind-blowing. Shindig devoted nearly an entire episode to "Shindg Place" I think it was called. It was an early if not the first Rock Opera. Producer Jack Good had all the major performers do an entire story of lovers falling in and out of love using rock and roll to tell the story. Tina Turner and Marvin Gaye are featured as well as nearly everyone else of the Shindig cast. Amazing!

  • Wow thank you SOOOOO much- where did you get this vid!?

  • I bought it from some guy a few years ago. My husband has been converting his old high school plays with Dazzle so I asked him to convert this too.
