i guess i got it easy. here all we have to take is a written test and if you pass you get your motorcycle license, no need to take a course or anything
I reside in Cali. I went ahead and got me a Yamaha Zuma125, went to the DMV and got me a Motorcycle handbook, went through the entire book, set an appointment foe the written test which I passed on 7/7/10 and been riding for the past 10 months with just the permit. I didn't took any riding course, but decided to set an appointment to take the riding test anyway and I've passed on 5/2/11. And I just got my CM1 license in the mail box 2 days ago.
@daviong03 I never took a riding course, what I did was I go ahead and get my permit and got my Zuma125 insured and I'd rode for 10 months with just the permit, cause you have 1 yr to take your license or your permit will expired from the date you'd passed the written test, here's the trick, the riding (license) test will be "easy" if you take the test with an automatic trans scooter, it works for me. Good luck.
@daviong03 And from what I understand is that an endorsment is that the DMV could waive the riding test and you could get some discount on your insurance, but paying $2-3 hundred for the riding course is just a little steep for some of us and anyway, I don't have the time to go to a riding course . In the end, my unendorse license work just as well.
@mysteakhouse well if your in the military the class is free, but u could take the class on the weekend for cheaper. also you could check a dealership, some of them offer the class and it will be a discount if u buy a bike from them. I took mines with the army last month for FREE!!! thank GOD for the army
In australia, you have to take a motorbike competency test which is pass/fail criteria. Once you pass that, you receive a certificate that states you are able to go for your learners licence which is a written test. Once you pass both of those you are given are learners licence which you cannot exceed 80km/h, have a passenger, and ride in a certain park which people walk through but has bike tracks and the bike has to be under 250cc, helmet has to be approved by certain standards.
It is super easy here in Alberta, Canada. You can start riding at the age of 14 once you get your learners permit for operating a motor vehicle, you just have to have a licensed rider following you or on the bike with you. As far as I know there is no size restriction, or where you can drive, but only allowed to drive during daylight hours. Then once your 16 you can get your motorcycle license, even before your car license if you want. It is very lax her for getting your license.
hey horsefly87 can you help me i want to get my motorcycle permit but people are saying that its not possible to drive a 600cc motorcycle with a permit until you18 i live in san jose california i need help asap
Wtf, at 3:00 he said buying a motorcycle would be the best thing of our lives, then in the suggestions box he has a video titled "Why You Shouldn't Buy a Motorcycle", and under that he has ANOTHER video titled "Top 5 Reasons You SHOULD Own a Motorcycle", mixed feelings much, lol?
also... I want to buy a brand new 2008 gsxr 600.... is it better to save or make the $9,399 and pay upfront, or is it better to get a loan? What states dont have endorsment?
Its sad when someone doesn't understand when you say "young grass hopper" but they do understand when you say "young padawan" if thats how you spell it anyway
almost the same thing here in Maine. three day motorcycle course, wahlah, motorcycle endorsement(if you pass the class). only difference is, you dont need a permit for the class. you go in, first day is class time. writen test. second day, practice runs. third day, course trials. if you dont pass either the writen part or the course trials, you still come out with your permit. then youd have to send in for a "road test" through the state.
Yeah it's the same in Pennsylvania... I'm not sure what the restrictions are for riding on your permit, but if you take the MSF course (and pass), you don't have to take a road test through the DMV to get your license.
thinking about getting a bike. dont have any experience but i know someone who does and im working on educating myself. i want to get my permit but should i start looking at a bike before or after? also do you you use your bike for primary transportation?
great vid but lemme get this straight, I gotta go to the DMV, take the written test and get my permit.......then I gotta buy a motorcycle and drive to the motorcycle safety foundation place without knowing how to drive one? soo....would I have to teach myself to drive one before I take the lessons? plz help, thx..
do you know what the road tests are in ohio you have to take? like i know you have to swerve between cones, do a u turn and a braking thing. do you know what else you have to do or is that it? cause i live in columbus, but i can't really find it or i'm just not looking hard enough haha so i thought i'd just ask you since you're in ohio.
have u ever redlined ur bike? reason y i ask is u seem like a very safe rider which is totally awesome :) much respect i cant control my self to stay under 14grand Lol
for me (in NY), i had to take a written test for my permit, that allowed me to ride within a quarter mile of another licensed rider who is 21 or older, then you can either take the road test, or do the MSF course ($275) which for me is 6 days, and you take another written test, and a "skills evaluation" but they teach you a lot of really useful stuff. then you get your license.
i bought by bike without a permit & a license... its just a purchase, they could care less of you have a license for it, just like buying a car, if you want a car and have the cash, they don't care if you have a license.
i actually have 3 other questions if you have the time. sorry about this. but no one can answer my question straight forward and i don't wanna sound like an idiot when i go to the dealership. lol
did you pay full or are you paying monthly fees?
do they offer insurance while you were there?
and how are you paying for it? cash? or credit? or a loan?
i am paying monthly for my bike... I put some cash down though so my payments would be reasonable.... they don't offer ins from the dealership... I am paying for my bike with my cash... i hope thats what you needed... Thanks bud.
I was working in the Toledo area, a few months ago for about 3 weeks. There are some nice parks there near the lake and along the river, which I can't think of the name of to save my life.
Here in N.Y. the MSF class is three days and costs 275.00 and it's full right now. I can travel to Syracuse to take it but I would need to take vacation from work.
$25 for MSF?!? Mine costs me $175 (plus tax). The only restriction on our permits here in NC is no passenger. Finally taking MSF at the end of August and had my permit since January when I got my bike but never had time until now
I need to hire you to write hilarious comments on all my vids...lol... I've got 2 more from this series that I'm gonna upload. I edited them today but just wait a few days between uploads.
here in montreal it takes thousands of dollars and several years before you get a full motorcycle license.. it is ridiculous. the insurance for someone of my age (20) costs around 4000 dollars for 5-6 months and the plate costs 1200 dollars.. all that is for a sport bike between 600cc and 1000cc.. and of course the motorcycle school is mandatory.. its all elaborated like that so the CAA (the smart asses that run all that) can make a shitload of money..
Hey make a video that you tell about signs when riding.
Like almost at the end of the video, the guy in front of you took out his arm when another bike was going the other way an he did the same thing.
