Aw, your thumbnail isn't so scary. It *doesn't* do you justice (as someone mentioned), but I've seen *much* worse. Recently. :>) As for the planning, I agree; it's definitely the best way to go. OTOH, I'm jumping into NaNo 2010 with no ideas or planning at all. Instead, I've let a random generator pick my basic story idea, my protagonist, AND my antagonist... all on Day 1. Don't know if this plan's going to work out so well, but should be fun. Or painful. One of those two. :>) Anyway, good luck!

I was searching for NaNoWriMo 2010 videos and found this. I'm glad I did! This is my second year doing it and I failed majorly last year because I was just trying to finish Year 12. You got me excited all over again to start planning my novel! (also: yay another Aussie Nerdfighter!)

Plan as much as you can before the novel writing month starts so that you have an idea to fall onto if you get frustrated with the word count or something.
I'm doing NaNoWriMo this year :) I can't wait! haha, what's your NaNoUserName? I'm looking for writing buddies haha :)

I planned out the first chunk to get the story started, but from there I'm going to wing it with mainly random attacks from monsters spicing it up.
