  • It's hard to explain what the movie is about without giving any spoilers, I watched a couple of months ago (yeah, around april) and i fell in love with it.

  • this movie was GREAT!! anna paquin.....hot hot hot werewolf scene!!! haha

  • Lionsgate is an independant movie maker that is more friendly to up and coming directors maybe he should try working with them. Hopefully Bryan Singer with his clout can help his friend out. With his backing I can see another movie. Hopefully he and Bryan still owns the rights and can go else where. This film was better than Saw and it wasn't fair the way the WP treated him.

  • Yup. I hope he returns to this well too. I think he's got a couple writing projects coming up next, one on Charlie Chan.

  • @Ede791 Who the eff are these guys? worst review ever and not even mildly entertaining.

  • @walshtime24 While I can't say anything about the other two - sadly - one of them is Yuri Lowenthal who is known for his work in voice acting.

  • I feel the exec no they dropped the ball on this one and it's a shame. It's not fair to the director or the actors in the movies who worked their tails off(especially the hot werewolf chicks) ahem!!!! anyway I see a sequel in the works scene the DVD out sold the likes of True Blood and transformers. This will not be that last we See of Sam and company. He'll have his place along side Jason,Freddy ,Myers and Chucky. I'll never look at Anna Paquin the same way again. When did she get so hot!!!!

  • LOL! She is looking pretty good here (same for True Blood too).

I hope you're right, that this film does spawn more media, but having met the director, he didn't seem to positive on returning to this property any time soon. It seemed the studio's response sucked all the fun out of working on the project.

It isn't fair to all the people who worked really hard on the flick, but business rarely is fair...

  • This is a good movie and what some people don't seem to like about it is because it doesn't spell things out to people as if they were kids. U have to really watch this movie. Shame on Warner for not putting this in the theater. Bet the exec at Warner are sorry they didn't with all the buzz it's getting now.

  • I wonder if movies like this will eventually be able to bring back the way movie theaters used to re-release movies (before home video took over). There's NO reason why it shouldn't get some limited theatrical release next Halloween.

Could be an interesting experiment, release a movie on DVD first THEN see if it does well before putting it in theaters...

  • Watch it on Halloween night. Good movie! I like how the stories interwoven themselves. The movie was exactly what I was looking for, it had a very Halloweenish setting to it. It manages to be creepy n scary without tons of gore which is what a lot of horror movies do these days in attempt to be scary. I rarely buy dvd's ( I usually rent them) but I took a chance on this one and it work out good for me. I would rank this second only to Creepshow, which is a masterpiece.

  • Oh man Creepshow is good. One of the showings of Trick 'r Treat out here in LA was a double bill with Creepshow. I was really upset I couldn't go to that.

We also screened it for friends on Halloween, and even though several people there didn't like "scary" films most everyone had a really good time with it.

It's really too bad we don't see more anthology films these days...

  • TOTALLY! Sam is freaking adorable! Quite possibly the cutest, most heart warming little slasher guy ever!

  • The Huffington Post gave it a HORRIBLE review. Some dude named Scott Mendleson reviewed it. They gave it 1.5/5 stars. Said it should have never had a theatrical release.

I want to check it out but after reading that review... I'm not so sure.

I usually check like ten reviews out and then decide whether to buy or not. I really don't rent.

  • Well here's what I'll say about that.

I very much disagree. I would be interested to see if he has an appreciation for Twilight Zone marathons, because if you watch six episodes in a row, THEY wouldn't have a through-line, they'd be six different stories. Trick 'r Treat succeeds over films like the Twilight Zone movie solely because it manages to take four separate stories, and gives them a through line. This is a success of the editing.

  • The movie can't be billed as a true horror film. It's the best horror comedy I've seen in a LONG time. Maybe since Evil Dead 2. This is not a film to watch when you want to be scared, it's a film to put on during a Halloween party. Dress up your friends, get buzzed on candy, down a little PBR, and I think you'll have a good time.

  • That is really stupid about how it is more psychotic as Saw. There is no way; though I do love Saw. I saw most of the movie before I actually watched the DVD because of clips and stuff. I ended up loving it, though! It really delivered and set up the right mood for Halloween. It looked and felt GREAT! Why was it on the shelves. IdK,

  • It really is a shame. The movie has such great pedigree, and so many more people could've enjoyed it if it had made it to theaters... Oh well. I'll be buying the Blu-Ray for this year's Halloween party.

  • I have been waiting 2 long years for this movie. As soon as I saw the preview, I knew this would be a success. I loved every aspect of it, however, it does slow down a little with the final tale, but overall, dude, this was well worth the wait. I bought it on dvd today, and I may decide to buy it again on blu ray to get the most out of this amazing piece of work. Move over "Halloween", "Trick r' Treat" is the new horror phenomenon. I can't wait until a sequel, and there better be one.

  • Totally agreed!

Even more surprising that the studio just sat on it for years. To have this caliber of film, with the performers and pedigree of production just gather dust seems like a RIDICULOUS waste of money!

Even a limited release would've made money on top of the production budget.

When people talk about Hollywood being out of touch, these are the stories that validate accusation.
