the silver (free) membership doesnt even limit that much ..I took a look at the list and the only thing that might be annoying is that you have to manually mine dilithium and premium is automatic.

but I got max level in the first 2 months of release and haven't played it since ..so im glad im going to get back in for free.

I feel bad for ppl who bought the lifetime sub ..because prem isnt that much better then the silver.

This game really had potential. But the implementation was just so poor. So much good material which just isn't being polished. The game still has a lot of bugs, and the customer service is utter crap. Add to that the game is slowly going Pay to Win, NOT Free to Play. There's a big difference between F2P and P2W. The space combat is fun, though it gets repetitive. The ground combat is enjoyable, but suffers from the same repetitiveness as the space game. I could go on, but this is enough.

its really not a bad game to play. i have enjoyed it. i spent 5 minutes in eve online and gave up. after watching a few minutes or world of warcraft i almost threw my computer in the trash. but this isnt bad. its a bit slow but its entertaining.

Im a Star Wars fan, not big on Star Trek. But I will say that I am sad and sad for the fans of Star Trek to see such a popular and loved franchise become a Free To Play MMO. Star Trek Online had SO much potential to become an awesome game that would suck a Trekkies life away. Instead it turned to shit. Sorry for such a huge disappointment Star Trek Fans.

This trailer distorts the truth about how bad this game is... All the die hard Trek fans were disappointed in this trash. They spend more time making garbage for the in game store, and make little or no content in game.

You can do 3 things tops in this game, ship battles, God awful ground combat, and gamble... all wear down their fun after a day or two.

The dance hall and goofy c-store animals are so out of place.

they have updated the game a lot. and the combat system is a lot better now. yes it was buggy when it launched and fora while after that but its way better now. the thing about mmo's on pc is they are always evolving so if you hated it once ages ago doesnt mean you would hate it today.

I will never play this peice of crap ever again, even for free. I payed full price for it last year on the first day, and played for a week, then got bored, and quit. It was so buggy! Cryptic also kept billing me on a 6 month recurring subscription, when I had canceled and closed the account. Worst thing is, I didn't even subscribe to a 6 month recurring plan, at all!

@aaronfowlowmusic I feel your pain. Cryptic is quickly becoming the worst of the big game studios; I played both STO and Champions Online, and between the game bugs in one and the game/graphics bugs in the other, I've just about had it...

They also now sell lifetime subscriptions for a few hundred bucks, just in case someone might be willing to make that big a mistake before finding out what we did.

It is much better to pay what you can afford per month for a game, than to pay that especially for a new game. I would do that for WoW, sure, because they have been doing it for years, and I have been playing for years, but certainly not any new MMO, and certainly not with Cryptic. Worst gaming company ever. And I am a huge Star Trek Fan. Makes me mad really.

Yeah that was my exact thought too, which was why when I first seen that as a payment option I thought "hello, that would save the average MMO player money"... it was about 2 hours later when I fully understood the game - it's triumphs and faults - and thought "you know, this game is probably best played for free. Maybe I'll pay for a month to see the adventure packs before I completely quit in disgust"

I was disappointed as well, because I had been watching progress of the game for a long time, and being a trek fan, I was kinda appalled about how terrible it really was. I admit, it had me for the first few hours, and then it was a grind. Literally every ship mission is the exact same thing. Fly around, and destroy other ships... by clicking the same button over and over. Dumb game.

@UltimateSpinDash Did you read the part where I said I played it at launch? Trust me dude, anyone who played it before and shortly after launch, can tell you how extremely buggy the game was. Glitches all over the place! It was not sufficiently beta tested, and it was just rushed. It was rushed to us in an unfinished state as well. I bought it and played it because I am a big fan of Star Trek, but this game is just a long list of Trek games that have failed, horribly.

What a waste of hype, and years developing a game that didn't pan out to live up to it's hype, and the reputation of the Star Trek Franchise. It's a shame really, I think Paramount has whored this franchise out enough, and if they are going to sell rights to it in the future, they need to sell it to a game company that can actually do something right with it.

@williamkendrick This will not save the game. And the lifetime membership, I knew from the start that it was a scam. Unless your game has lasted for atleast 3 years, you should never sell lifetime memberships. You should also never buy one if you are a customer. You cannot possibly know if you will like a game, and be playing it still in the future. They were doing the same with Rift, and I was very tempted to do it, but glad I didn't. I quit the game after the first month, haven't played since.

@philessexuk Not all games are in as buggy of a state as this game was when it came out. It was rushed to release, and we were given a game that was pretty much still in a beta state. So quit trying to "sound" smart by implying that people who played the game at release, are not smart. Besides that, the bugs weren't the biggest thing that ticked me off. It was their customer service and billing. The billing was borderline fraudulent. I was lucky after 6 calls to get a serviceman who refunded me.
