For those of you who do not know what a razor strop (not strap) is, it's a four inch wide, 3 foot long hunk of leather used for honing straight razors, and usually all you needed was one dose of it! While it was not made for spanking kids, just seeing it hanging there kept you in line. If the old man got that down you knew you really messed up lol!!! P.S. bring back the strop, and get rid of the psycho drugs that infest our culture!!!

Brings back memories of the razor strap! That' is when you knew you really messed up. Also picking you own switch & it better make a good swishing sound & not be rotten or brittle.

@1954phyllis no, its not a lie. At least not from good parents. Mine said that too & I never got it then. I pry won't entirely until i have kids of my own. But if they are punishing you out of love, then it really does hurt them to 'hurt' you. I wouldn't be where I am today w\o that love from my folks.

Love it! He is so funny! What happened to spankins now? Heaven forbid spank your child now! And I'm like him.... where was that when I was a kid? My daddy was a pastor and I got spanked A LOT! Discipline never lacked in my house and my momma always had the last word!!

There is a definite difference between discipline & child abuse. Kids weren't as bad as they are now when parents could still spank their children without fear of arrest. I got spankings as a child & I turned out just fine (I'm 32 now). As my pediatrician told my mother, it's all well & good to talk to your children but you have to get their attention first & if it takes a swat on the backside to get their attention, well, that's why God made that area nice & padded.
