  • Remember how frightened you were when you first went to hold her hand , and when you did , she squeezed it .

  • what sort of clod would give it a dislike?

  • @27132lower ABSOLUTELY

  • @27132lower

    ABSOLUTELY

  • Love this song...love you always Bobby, thank you for 30 beautiful years RIP my love

  • Beautiful song ... beautiful melody

  • I love you there's nothing to hide,it's better than burning inside.I love you no use to pretend..There! I've said it again.Forgive me for wanting you so,but one thing i want you to know..I've loved you since heaven knows when..There i've said it again.A very beautiful song! I absolutely love it!

  • Oldies are the greatest!

  • The 36th #1 song on Billboard's newly formed chart that is now known as the Adult Contemporary charts. Bobby Vinton became the first artist to have 3 #1 hits on this chart. This was also the first #1 AC hit of 1964. Ditto for the Top 40 charts. But something was fixing to happen that would shake the music industry to its core.

  • My all time favorite singer! His voice has such clarity and is just so beautiful it just makes me get chills when i listen to him.

  • I've said it many times, and well say it many more to my loving wife

  • i was 14 years old and i was on a hay ride with my first love,, i can still smell the hay, and i still remember the feeling of his hand in mine and that is the song that was playing when he gave me my first real kiss

  • Not all songs from the '60's were classics.Apologies to those who have a personal memor.y.

  • beautiful song, beautiful video.

  • The last song to hit #1 before The Beatles had their first American #1

  • We all need this song in our life, As we all need to feel like we are loved!

    Wonderful song!

    It says it all!

I grew up with Bobby Vinton!

    i hope he's loved .

    thanks for posting xNYerx

  • Favourite jazz song.

Not because it's technically great or anything.

Just because of the way it makes me feel.

    Like I'm in a daze

of every romantic moment I've ever had and will ever have.

    Reminiscent and hopeful.

  • if this song doesn't bring a tear to your eyes, NOTHING will.

    beautiful***** <3<3<3

  • @carolinesoswt Try "Roses are Red" or "Blue Velvet"

  • i dedicate this song to the love of my life my best friend and my future wife debbie stoch. you love with all of my heart. your loveing husband to be angelo

  • I'm 64 and forgot how great the " Polish Prince " really was. I haven't been moved to tears by a song in God knows when, if ever. I couldn't hold the tears back, and cried like a baby. This is a song from Bobby' heart. I hope he reads this because I fell in love with his music all over again. sigmazur@gmail.com.

  • XNYerX, is that you in the pics - hope so:O)

    Thanks for this memory!

  • @CAS1xtz -

not me--sorry...LOL but ty for listening! XNYerX

  • what a great singer

  • Billboard's 142nd #1 hit of the rock era. God bless you, brother Bobby!

  • Kiving in this life of these songs was the GREATEST!!

  • I want to live in a world with this music!

  • A US number one through January 1964. Meanwhile, in England, four talented young men from Liverpool were anticipating their visit to the US.........

This recording of a 1945 composition marked the end of an era.

  • @gary777777 Freddie and the Dreamers?

  • Well theres alot to say about this song Vinton did an awsome job on this one for sure i believe this song by him made a hit in the 100 billboard tracks back then .

    great song:)

  • Oh my!! So sweet and mellow. Helps me unwind and chill. Thank you .xoxo:)

  • I've said it...what more can I say...love this... :)

  • I like bobby venton, he is really good

  • this song was #1 on my birthday 1/22/64 haha

  • Thank you for the memories of a boyfriend that I had when we danced to this in a party and he sang it to me while we were dancing. But then he moved far away from me and I am left only with beautiful memories from him. Thank you.

  • @rgarcia923 sweet heart that goes to show you, when a guy takes the time to softly in your ear, while danceing you have something special. i am 62 and i still sing in my wifes ear while dancing

  • @VIGILANTI1 She's a lucky lady your wife. That guy was wonderful to me. Thanks for that.

  • Memories so beautiful from the past! Bobby is my wife's favorite - we just celebrated 51 years of marriage yesterday. I can't choose between him an several other beautiful voices - Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennet, - how blessed we were during their heyday! We can still visit those days gone by through their songs.

  • I seem to remember hearing that this was the last American song to hit the # 1 spot before the Beatles and the British Invasion struck

  • What a beautiful song and Bobby does a great job singing

  • My wife and I will be celebrating 32 years of marriage tomorrow, playing these great songs just for her. thanks so much

  • i love this song

  • Love never dies as all of you who have loved and lost well know---thank you .....

  • This song and Blue Velvet are my two favorite Bobby Vinton songs. Thanks for posting this.

  • it brings back fond memories and fun

  • My mother had this album and loved it. This brings back the good old days some memories not so good but for some reason the music is healing to me.

  • My mother loved this record! I can remember her playing this album over and over and being blissfully happy doing so. Thanks Bobby for a great memory of my mother. RIP mom. your little boy..

  • Mr. Vinton's version is lush and "pretty". Mr. Monroe's original version is romantic and loving. Both great renditions by two great artists. AND both coolectable on LP & reel to reel tape!

  • I remember slow dancing to this in the summer of '65 at a friend's sweet 16 party...oh, the memories!

  • This beautiful song was a hit for vocalist, Vaughn Monroe, in the early 1950s, and Bobby has totally out-done that effort...

  • beautiful bobby vinton song fantastic oldie thanks for posting

  • This was our theme song when we were dating in 1964. I had the title inscribed on Dianne's ipod and this song in her playlist. We were married 45 years, lacking two days. Dianne went to be with Jesus on December 18, 2009. I still love her, There I've said it again.

  • @randeecan Ohh...God Bless the both of you. How beautiful. Just beautiful. You were both blessed to have one another. My prayers are with you both.

  • God bless you and your wife. It's rare today hearing of a 45 year marriage. Love never dies as you well know.

  • So sorry for your loss. I'm sure you have many happy memories to comfort you.

  • Please accept my sympathies on the loss of your wife, randeecan. Touching songs like this can really yank on the heart. The girl I had a crush on when this song hit the charts in early 1964 married someone else and now lives in Kansas. Warm regards to you at a difficult time...

  • randeecan..heatfelt and warmly stated. I know this much: Dianne was one lucky woman. Thanks for sharing such a personal tribute with this appropriate Bobby Vinton selection. God bless you.

  • I love the way Bobby Vinton sings this song. I believe this was a number 1 hit for him. I have this original 1963 LP on EPIC Records. His voice was sheer magic in the 1960s.

  • I sang this to my wife on our wedding night, not just as good as Bobby but it meant a lot top us,believe me!!

  • I used to play this on the jukebox for my girl friend in '64, who became my wife in '65 and my ex-wife in '68

  • Thank you for posting this song.

It was my late mother and fathers song from the 1945 version by Vaugn Monroe but they enjoyed this version too...happened on it by accident and sparked wonderful memories of my Parents. Thanks again

  • this was a number one record in America in 1964 before the beatles stormed in the week after with their number 1st number 1 hit!!!

  • One of the great romantic recordings of all time. Every young guy in the early '60's who had a crush on some pretty young thing could appreciate this song. I've heard Monroe's version...seemed too heavy-handed on the deep baritone side compared to Bobby's soaring, melodic rendition. Bobby got it just right. Now wonder it was such a huge hit!

  • I had a crush on my wife to be and loved this song during our times of dating .

  • I wish you and your wife ANOTHER 45 years of happiness together

    XNYerX

  • Thank you for your warm wishes. I am Lynn the wife. I am so blessed to have Hal as my husband and the father of our children. Oh how we love this man. Blessings . :)

  • thank you for your warm wishes.I am the wife. No better man than my husband has ever lived. :)

  • My lovely wife and I fell in love while listening to this song. 45 years ago. Still going strong. :)

  • Very good, but Vaughn Monroe performed it better. Wish that were available on You Tube.

  • No. 1 in very late 1964. All hell was breaking out in Vietnam--we just didn't know it yet. Great song is often forgotten; everyone remembers Blue Velvet.

  • Oakmont, I, too, loved this song.....it was indeed great; however, it was released in late 1963 and was a number one hit in early 1964.................just for the record!

  • hes still great

  • glad it brought back fond memories

  • Danced to this one, and many others, in seventh grade for Friday morning Phys Ed class. We were actually mature enough to dance the entire period with very little, if any, supervision. It was great. I can still smell Beth's perfume, feel her sweater, and see her smile. I hope she can hear this song from heaven. Thanks for posting this, xNYerx.

  • This song is significant because it marks the dividing line between the "innocent years" and Rock and Roll era - more specifically, it was the last song to reach number one on the Hot 100 before "I Want to Hold Your Hand" topped the chart

  • A Pleasure--glad you enjoyed and thanx for taking the time to comment

    XNYerX

  • Some sweet moments in time, can never be forgotton. This post brings them all to mind. Thank you for posting this.

  • This song reminds me of the time when I first started dating my wife Judy....

...when the skies were always blue, the birds were always singing and there was a rainbow around every corner....

Of course, that was before she ripped out my heart and kicked it around in the dirt a couple times ............

  • I remember that singer, Vaughn Monroe from the '40s also had a big hit with this song. But I still prefer Bobby's version much better.

  • Let s know the answer! LOL

    XNYerX

  • It's too bad there wasn't a video of Sam Cooke's version of this song. Not to take anything from Bobby's, and certainly the lyrics, but if anyone remember Sam's version I think you'd agree...he made it his own. BTW, at 65 y.o., these lyrics are just what I'm feeling for a special someone right now. Guess I'd better put a ring on it. ;)

  • Songs were better in those times, even though it was before my time. They had meaning to them, and were clear so you could hear all the words.

  • brooklyn was great during the 50's

  • a great song, a timeless classic

  • I can't recall how many times I've had these lyrics stuck in my head. What a wonderful song.

I've heard that Bobby took a lot of heat for singing such schmaltz, but he proved that there was a big market for beautiful ballads and great voices. Thanks for posting this!

  • bobby vinton's music is great music to listen to when you are haveing a romantic dinner with your special someone

  • Cerliezio--I am not familiar with that place and I bet it was up on the north shore. I lived on the south shore. I checked both google and the internet phone book and didnt find a listing for it. I bet your memories are good ones though

i sense your longing for days long gone now.Like me.

I have been away from Brooklyn since 1980 and though i go back from time to time i really miss those days and my ex wife's old

neighborhood. 86Th St. and Avenue U.

Remember Welcome Back Kotter? it was about that time.

  • How bout King's Plaza? I drove the B-46 Utica Av. bus in those days. Remember "Beef n Brew" on the corner of Nostrand and Av. U? Great memories!! I'm going back to the late 60s...early 70s!

  • I don't believe that is correct but maybe someone else knows?

    XNYerX

  • I agree, one of my favorite melodies. It was recorded by Sinatra, Cole, even Sam Cooke, but I would love to hear the Roger Whittager version. Can someone post that?

  • Remember the Vaughn Munro version from my youth.

This is a great rendition too.

    Thanks for posting.

  • it was my pleasure and I am glad you liked it. If you have a song you would like posted-just ask and I will try to accommodate.
