I love you there's nothing to hide,it's better than burning inside.I love you no use to pretend..There! I've said it again.Forgive me for wanting you so,but one thing i want you to know..I've loved you since heaven knows when..There i've said it again.A very beautiful song! I absolutely love it!
The 36th #1 song on Billboard's newly formed chart that is now known as the Adult Contemporary charts. Bobby Vinton became the first artist to have 3 #1 hits on this chart. This was also the first #1 AC hit of 1964. Ditto for the Top 40 charts. But something was fixing to happen that would shake the music industry to its core.
i was 14 years old and i was on a hay ride with my first love,, i can still smell the hay, and i still remember the feeling of his hand in mine and that is the song that was playing when he gave me my first real kiss
i dedicate this song to the love of my life my best friend and my future wife debbie stoch. you love with all of my heart. your loveing husband to be angelo
I'm 64 and forgot how great the " Polish Prince " really was. I haven't been moved to tears by a song in God knows when, if ever. I couldn't hold the tears back, and cried like a baby. This is a song from Bobby' heart. I hope he reads this because I fell in love with his music all over again. sigmazur@gmail.com.
Well theres alot to say about this song Vinton did an awsome job on this one for sure i believe this song by him made a hit in the 100 billboard tracks back then .
Thank you for the memories of a boyfriend that I had when we danced to this in a party and he sang it to me while we were dancing. But then he moved far away from me and I am left only with beautiful memories from him. Thank you.
@rgarcia923 sweet heart that goes to show you, when a guy takes the time to softly in your ear, while danceing you have something special. i am 62 and i still sing in my wifes ear while dancing
Memories so beautiful from the past! Bobby is my wife's favorite - we just celebrated 51 years of marriage yesterday. I can't choose between him an several other beautiful voices - Dean Martin, Johnny Mathis, Tony Bennet, - how blessed we were during their heyday! We can still visit those days gone by through their songs.
My mother loved this record! I can remember her playing this album over and over and being blissfully happy doing so. Thanks Bobby for a great memory of my mother. RIP mom. your little boy..
Mr. Vinton's version is lush and "pretty". Mr. Monroe's original version is romantic and loving. Both great renditions by two great artists. AND both coolectable on LP & reel to reel tape!
This was our theme song when we were dating in 1964. I had the title inscribed on Dianne's ipod and this song in her playlist. We were married 45 years, lacking two days. Dianne went to be with Jesus on December 18, 2009. I still love her, There I've said it again.
Please accept my sympathies on the loss of your wife, randeecan. Touching songs like this can really yank on the heart. The girl I had a crush on when this song hit the charts in early 1964 married someone else and now lives in Kansas. Warm regards to you at a difficult time...
randeecan..heatfelt and warmly stated. I know this much: Dianne was one lucky woman. Thanks for sharing such a personal tribute with this appropriate Bobby Vinton selection. God bless you.
I love the way Bobby Vinton sings this song. I believe this was a number 1 hit for him. I have this original 1963 LP on EPIC Records. His voice was sheer magic in the 1960s.
It was my late mother and fathers song from the 1945 version by Vaugn Monroe but they enjoyed this version too...happened on it by accident and sparked wonderful memories of my Parents. Thanks again
One of the great romantic recordings of all time. Every young guy in the early '60's who had a crush on some pretty young thing could appreciate this song. I've heard Monroe's version...seemed too heavy-handed on the deep baritone side compared to Bobby's soaring, melodic rendition. Bobby got it just right. Now wonder it was such a huge hit!
Thank you for your warm wishes. I am Lynn the wife. I am so blessed to have Hal as my husband and the father of our children. Oh how we love this man. Blessings . :)
No. 1 in very late 1964. All hell was breaking out in Vietnam--we just didn't know it yet. Great song is often forgotten; everyone remembers Blue Velvet.
Oakmont, I, too, loved this song.....it was indeed great; however, it was released in late 1963 and was a number one hit in early 1964.................just for the record!
Danced to this one, and many others, in seventh grade for Friday morning Phys Ed class. We were actually mature enough to dance the entire period with very little, if any, supervision. It was great. I can still smell Beth's perfume, feel her sweater, and see her smile. I hope she can hear this song from heaven. Thanks for posting this, xNYerx.
This song is significant because it marks the dividing line between the "innocent years" and Rock and Roll era - more specifically, it was the last song to reach number one on the Hot 100 before "I Want to Hold Your Hand" topped the chart
It's too bad there wasn't a video of Sam Cooke's version of this song. Not to take anything from Bobby's, and certainly the lyrics, but if anyone remember Sam's version I think you'd agree...he made it his own. BTW, at 65 y.o., these lyrics are just what I'm feeling for a special someone right now. Guess I'd better put a ring on it. ;)
I can't recall how many times I've had these lyrics stuck in my head. What a wonderful song.
I've heard that Bobby took a lot of heat for singing such schmaltz, but he proved that there was a big market for beautiful ballads and great voices. Thanks for posting this!
Cerliezio--I am not familiar with that place and I bet it was up on the north shore. I lived on the south shore. I checked both google and the internet phone book and didnt find a listing for it. I bet your memories are good ones though
in the mid seventies i used to go to a disco bar in Staten Island it was called the Beachcomber and it was at the very end of Hylan Blvd. Wonder if it still exists!
How bout King's Plaza? I drove the B-46 Utica Av. bus in those days. Remember "Beef n Brew" on the corner of Nostrand and Av. U? Great memories!! I'm going back to the late 60s...early 70s!
I agree, one of my favorite melodies. It was recorded by Sinatra, Cole, even Sam Cooke, but I would love to hear the Roger Whittager version. Can someone post that?

Favourite jazz song.
Not because it's technically great or anything.
Just because of the way it makes me feel.
Like I'm in a daze
of every romantic moment I've ever had and will ever have.
Reminiscent and hopeful.
