thank you so much for this video, i just got a sweing machine and have been batteling with the idea of cloth dipers for about 4 months now, this looks like and even MORE cost effective way of useing the c.d. system not to mention i get the fun of choosing my own pul and outer shells thanks again...ps the supply website is extreamly helpfull since i couldnt find pul for the life of me on my own thanks!...p.s. do you need a special tool to place the snaps?
@ladiematrix You are so very welcome!! And verybaby.com sells the button press that you will need; otherwise, you will have to make sized/fitted diapers (not one-sized). If verybaby have no button presses available, e-mail them, and I'm sure they'll make it available for you. Otherwise, google search where you can purchase a button press. My cousin picked up a hand button press at Jo-Ann's fabric store. I'm not sure about how secure the buttons are, but she has had no probs. I hope this helps!
I am going to be making cloth diapers very soon and was wondering, where do you get the velcro and what kind is it? als what size elastic is that and I will be making mine with Fleese and Flannel, that would be water proof right?
@newmommy8688 I get all of my supplies from verybaby.com. You will see 2 brands of velcro and different sizes, but I get the 1.5" Aplix tape, along with the 3/8" elastic, on that website. The website is very helpful and gives some tips on fabric and sewing notions. Fleece is perfectly fine to use as a waterproof barrier. Many people use it. You can also buy PUL on verybaby.com if you like. Please let me know if you need any more advice = ]
@babygurlrms10 The outside material is called PUL. You can get it on verybaby.com, as well as tons of other diaper making supplies, and at some local fabric stores. The soft side of the PUL faces outward and the shiny side faces inward, so you don't see it. I lined the diaper with cotton velor and made it a "pocket" opening and stuffed it with 3 layers of terry cloth, or you can buy cheap terry cloth towels at the dollar store and sew them together. Any more questions, just ask : )

It would be very interesting to see that the older methods are just as good.
Would it be possible for you to do a comparison with the old style vinyl pull on pants?
I bet you will find that the vinyl pants are much better to use.

I made a majority of my diaper stash, which made it sooo much cheaper for us, around $5.00 per diaper. They work great too : )

Any chance you could show the inserts you've made too please?Do you use boosters at night too?Are your boosters same size as inserts or do you make them smaller? @matelkokoko I actually prefer my own diapers, and I'm not being biased. Cost per diaper is just over $8 (American). If I have the time before the baby comes, I'd be happy to show the inserts. They're made of 3 layers of terry cloth and do great at nights without doubling up. And the insert fits great on the small setting as well as the largest. Took about 45 minutes total per diaper to make, after I established a good working order. No, I haven't converted to cloth wipes. Thanks for your Q's!
