I like what happened with the AIG executives. It is what I am looking for. I investigated the topic quite intensively and it is probably the first time in human history, that a society is living with such a gap between values code and actual behaviour.
Of course, it is not about depicting societies as they were not with people faithfully living and conducting their lives according to a value code. It is about examining the frequency of the application of the said code or it was applied.
AIG executives are among the finest of the US society which is supposedly driven by values like merit, justice an stuff like that. Did they deserve the bonuses? If they were active in extorting the money from the government, it could have been said but they were not. AIG executives were unable of behaving according the so called US values codes and were somehow forced by the US government to do so. Again this shows the degree the US people stick to their proclaimed set of values.
and more valuable, it also projects a negative of the US value code. And surprisingly, when the negative of the code is formalized, suddenly, this code appears to suit much more the reality of the behaviour of the US people throughout their history.

This 1.2 Trillion package seems to have so far achieved:
a) A temporary rise in the DJ, which has been pretty much removed today.
b) A swiftly falling dollar.
c) A swiftly increasing commodities market. Oil, Gold and Silver included.
d) The T-bond market appears to have tanked, which is the opposite than I would expect. I thought the fewer there were the more they would cost.

I like what happened with the AIG executives. It is what I am looking for. I investigated the topic quite intensively and it is probably the first time in human history, that a society is living with such a gap between values code and actual behaviour.
Of course, it is not about depicting societies as they were not with people faithfully living and conducting their lives according to a value code. It is about examining the frequency of the application of the said code or it was applied.

AIG executives are among the finest of the US society which is supposedly driven by values like merit, justice an stuff like that. Did they deserve the bonuses? If they were active in extorting the money from the government, it could have been said but they were not. AIG executives were unable of behaving according the so called US values codes and were somehow forced by the US government to do so. Again this shows the degree the US people stick to their proclaimed set of values.

Being able to name one single national law that UK has put forward in terms of restriction of freedom that is forced by Islam would be nice. I like this kind of comments because they show how much freedom has been a failure in the western world. I've known for some time that they've been planning set up Iran as their next enemy (as probably many have.) After calling them "the enemy" and "a threat" for years (even Obama), it came out recently on CNN (with documented proof) that the US government had been FUNDING weapons to Iran! In case of a nuclear 'accident' it's wise to have potassium iodine pills stashed away (nukepills. com). Potassium iodine blocks the thyroid from absorbing radioactive iodine, thus preventing thyroid cancer (a major problem with radiation, example Chernobyl). Of course, if we go into full blown nuclear war, then forget it. The whole planet is going to disappear into a black hole.

Thanks for the report Mike. The nuclear saber-rattling I find particularly disturbing, as I'm certain that most other people do too. Oil appears to be central to this "conflict". Instead of saber-rattling, the U.S. and U.K. should be striving for energy-independence -- something that should have been happening since 9/11, but didn't happen. That was the logical solution, but who ever said that governments behave logically or rationally? Not me. I saw that solution way back then, but who listens?

Ebay is hard to break into.
There are lots of peopel already doing it, and there are fees for listing, which really add up. And paypal charges too.
It gets a buit scary, if yuo have a few thigns that dont sell.
I find having my own website, built by me, means i can sell stuff without all the charges, and get the same money for it.
And if it doesnt sell, theres no charge.
So you make MUCH more money.

CNBC (our broadcast "financial channel") has been broadcasting the congressional hearing w/ the CEO of AIG - he mentioned those death threats in the hearing this morning.

If AIG had actually closed its doors - as Baer Stearns had - those under "contract" with AIG would be packing up their desks, and p**ing up a rope for their "Bonus" money.
