  • I'm no nutritionist but this helped me loose 4kg in 2 weeks 4 my boxing bout. Drink a pint (or whatever us equivalent is) of water before all meals, don't eat bread! And have ur main meal at lunch i.e. chicken fillet and new potatoes with salad. Drink juice as part of your 5 a day other than that water. Odd soda is ok

    a carb is a sugar (a simple carb) or a starch (a complexe carb)

    its better to have complexe carbs because it takes energy to break down those carbs

    they are found in potatoes, pastas, and salads

    try to avoid sugar

    and make sure the water you drink is very cold so it takes energy to warm it

  • The main reason you get overweight is because you don't exercise enough. Not because you eat too much. Actually your body appreaciates fat, it's healthy, and therefore you keep feeling hungry, although you don't need food.

    When you have gotten fat you basically need to exercise it away. Eating less only, is not the healthy and smart way to reduce weight. 30 minutes a day is not enough.

  • @nosaj03 Yes, carbs are broken down are broken down into simple sugars. However, too many bad carbs will cause a spike in the blood sugar and the pancreas to react by producing too much insulin. This spike in insulin will cause the liver to produce triglycerides which is fat in the blood.

  • This might seem really weird to you, but it works. Go to the store and buy yourself some chicken (not frozen fried chicken or anything like that), get the breast. Get a bag of salad (along with tomatos, peppers, any vegatable that you think tastes good, maybe even fruit) to go along with it, prepare a salad and make grilled chicken to top it off with. Get a smaller plate than normal, eat it all, and it makes you feel full because of the perspective of amount of food compared to plate size.

  • @WingsofRedemtion You should do a reverse diet, basically you have the biggest meal at the start of the day, it makes so much more sense as most people don't do much after the meal in the evening.

  • I went through this train of thought as well. I'm a big fan of diet cola drinks and they're a big no-no. So what I did is whenever I felt like having a drink of that stuff, I'd have a big glass of water instead. And you know what? Juice is MUCH better for you than cola, but bad for your teeth, so don't forget to brush! BTW fresh juice is thoroughly more enjoyable than pre-packaged stuff. In the 5 weeks of doing this and walking everywhere, I lost about 5 kilos (not sure how many pounds that is).

  • Simplest Carbohydrate explanation i can give is this. A carbohydrate has a high energy bond which our body breaks down. We use this to make an energy called ATP which is the energy our body primarily uses. If you don't use the ATP you store it in fat.

Sure, they're a part of it, but it's not everything. You want to watch saturated fat and cholestrol levels, too. Losing weight is great, but so's being healthy. No point being slim if you have a clogged up heart.

    So firstly eatting is great for the body it give you energy but too much will hurt you. So you have to maintain workout start off doing cardio such as swimming, or walk around your block a few days. Swimming is great way to lose fat and then from there you can start gaining muscle. It use takes dedication.

  • hey wings, i'm no expert or anything, but ill try to help :). so carbs are used as quick energy. theres two types: simple and complex. complex such as whole grains and things are better for you. for the water juice thing maybe try crystal lite? kinda tastes bad in my opinion but adds some flavour. try to cut out as much junk food as possible, but maybe give yourself a treat like once a day, or every couple of days. if its too hard you might give up.

  • once you loose weight run its much better at loosing weight, just do a mile.

    plus a carb is used for energy in your body it uses carbs and makes it into ATP for cells, if it goes unused it goes into, what we call fat. exercise is the best way to loose weight, eating WILL NOT MATTER if you exercise enough to burn it, but you gain weight exercising its because of the muscle weighing more than fat, try to measure your waist, it works better.

  • Strangly enough this was on tv a while ago today. One thing il say Wings is DONT undereat your calorie count for the day. As a male regardless of size you should be eating 2500 a day. Pasta etc has a high c.count so it doesnt mean youv gota eat less crap to loose weight...eat the high calorie healthy foods and youl still loose weight. If u under eat ur calorie count ur bodie doesnt eat away fat, its a common misconception, itl eat ur muscle instead. Hope that bit of info helps Wings :)

  • Dont try and find a quick fix, they dont exist. Moderation is the key, eat healthily but dont starve yourself of your favourite foods either. Drink lots of water and do 5 x 30 minute sessions of exercise per week.

  • Also, when exercising keep your heart rate around 130 or so - you want a slow burn to get the fat. It will be easy to hit 130 in the beginning. As you start to get into better shape you will see yourself working harder to get your heart rate up.

  • Forget the counting calories and special diets and drinking a certain amount of water. Trying to figure out how many calories are in carbs, proteins, etc is a waste of time. You will fail trying to do that. Pick up a book by Dr. Barry Sears called Enter the Zone of off Amazon aka The Zone Diet. It's very basic and realistic.

Anyway wings, try to go to the gym and start talking to the people there, they can help you a lot. If you're going to lose a lot of weight you're gonna have to endure a lot of pain, but trust me its worth it.

Diet coke tastes better than normal coke and cuts out the 12 teaspoons of sugar per can. However diet coke because of the sweetener your body thinks its getting energy but its not so some people binge on high fat and sugary food to balance out the energy the body craves and expects from diet coke. its not a poison otherwise it wouldn't be on the market

  • A rowing machine might accompany your cycling machine, so then you're not just exercising your legs. I couldn't do a rowing machine for too long though, about 20-30 minutes had me worn out for a little bit.

  • Alright Wings, I thought i'd give my opinion aswell. I used to be "large". Mainly because my life was shit, I didn't give a fuck about anything and I was playing WoW all the time. I decided to do something about it. I stopped eat shit in the middle of the weeks or take that snack or whatever, then I just ran abit every day. It wasn't easy at first but I got used to it, and here I am. Just a note: I didn't stop playing WoW, it's impossible, I'm so addicted. But I still found a way to work it out.

  • Wings !!! If you work out in the morning you burn something like 20 % more fat. you only start burning fat after at least 20 minutes of exercise. And if you mix up different types of cardio you burn more, so maybe a rowing mahcine or something with a bike too !!!
