Mike you are not thinking about what can happen to a person's health at any age. At 18 I was uninsured and rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery. It was a terrible experience, took years to pay off and my medical care was definitely lacking. If that happened to you today the cost would be astronomical and would probably take your entire life to pay off. Because you are young does not mean your health is invincible.

I've heard from two different news sources pets in Canada have quicker access to care than human beings. MRI, scans, operations...as long as you're a pet. Human? You have to wait. Or go the US.
i have experienced the UK and the USA, In the UK if you want to see a GP for non emergency your wait is about 24 hrs. If you have an emergency you call an ambulance, you go to the ER, its free. Same in USA but if you don't have insurance your first choice of hospital is not always available. non emergency in the UK, eg Hernia yes you may have to wait, thats why if you can afford it, you get Bupa, costs about $100 a month for a family, you are seen Imediatly. They wont tell you that!

Govt. managed HC plan in Britain led expansion of their system such that it is now the 3rd largest employer (after Chinese army and Indian Railways). Any talk about change to remove inefficiencies leads to talks about loss of livelihood/jobs. We DONT want to link quality of HC with loss of livelihood. U cannot provide the best since that may involve removing off inefficient departments. A double whammy! Thats downright immoral.
Market controlled healthcare systems are competitive by nature. Hence the number of innovations/breakthroughs from those systems are far more in number than from state-controlled ones. The govt. controlled health-care programs always end up squeezing the private programs by havingthose deficit-financed/subsidized in the first few years and thus kill all competition. that's pretty much what i just said! Health insurance is very exspensive thus the rich are treated well. before i was laid off ( 9 months ago...) I had great healthcare insurance, paid only 20 bucks a month, bluecross blueshield top of the line plan. 3 weeks later i was told by my boss they were gonna drop me from the plan, was sent alternative options and in order to recieve the same coverage i would have to pay 1000 dollars a month!

I work for a nonprofit hospital that must help anyone who walks in through the ER. As a result they eliminated 330 jobs in the last year to cover the cost of the increasing number of uninsured. So everyones care is effected whether they have insurance or not. We don't have beds for insured and uninsured seperated. You all get the same care but if all we can afford is minimal care than that is what you all get.

Mike you are not thinking about what can happen to a person's health at any age. At 18 I was uninsured and rushed to a hospital for emergency surgery. It was a terrible experience, took years to pay off and my medical care was definitely lacking. If that happened to you today the cost would be astronomical and would probably take your entire life to pay off. Because you are young does not mean your health is invincible.

A basic MRI=$3K+ and lets say your prem is $100 that single MRI= 2.5yrs worth of prem. I have a simple idea to fix this. I love President Obama but this ad is very too long. He should focus on and be succinct about the following pressing issues:
1. Americans need affordable Health Care.
2. No one should have to go bankrupt from a medical illness!
3. Pre-existing conditions should not be considered when buying a plan.
4. No life time caps on health insurance.
5. No prescription gaps.
6. No treatments and medications excluded from Medicare like there is at the present time.

I do not have it, and I do not want it. I wont take a public option because I am against using tax dollars that were taken unwillingly from some people. I cannot afford healthcare bills while I am in school, and simply do not worry about it. Call me ignorant, but thats the way it is right now. i have experienced the UK and the USA, In the UK if you want to see a GP for non emergency your wait is about 24 hrs. If you have an emergency you call an ambulance, you go to the ER, its free. Same in USA but if you don't have insurance your first choice of hospital is not always available. non emergency in the UK, eg Hernia yes you may have to wait, thats why if you can afford it, you get Bupa, costs about $100 a month for a family, you are seen Imediatly. They wont tell you that!

My observation is my care/affordability issues are result of gov meddling. Some regulation? Not a problem. But the gov taking control to "keep the insurance co. honest?" What has gov been doing all these years? Oh yeah, fannie mae and freddie mac, and bailing out the post office for billions...
That is one of my objections.

Unfortunately, he won't be able to pass all of the health care reforms that we need (the insurance and pharmacy companies will see to that), but he will make a difference and change the way health care is delivered in America. 2) Tax benefits for doctors serving the needy
3) Stop insurance comps to lobby Congress
4) Reduce war spending and use the money here on HC

people are not dieing,because of our healthcare system,they are dieing because they dont take care of themselves.they drink,smoke,do drugs and then we take care of them, that has nothing to do with our current system. this healthcare bill will ration care costs would be astronomical and we are broke. fix what we have dont destroy it. this bill is dead in the water and will not pass without some intelligent thought,the libs just want to spend money not improve anything,vote them all out in 2010

Diabetes is the biggest single expense in U.S. health care. There is a bio-tech company which may soon have the technology needed to eliminate diabetes! the company is VITRO DIAGNOSTICS and they are developing methods to clone pancreatic alpha and beta cells at a very cheap cost....this could, in essence, cure diabetes!

I don't care what anyone says about healthcare. Until a definite bill is produced that is actually readable, I'm not supporting anything. I'm so sick of people debating over this, because they don't even know what they're debating over, because they can't know what they're debating over because there is no definite source! Healthcare reform? That can wait, what we need is reform for our unhealthily garrulous legislature.

when oh when are people like you gonna realize it's not the care it's the cost of insurance. i keep hearing people say that the U.S. is 37th in the world as far as healthcare goes, what people don't realize is that the W.H.O. did this study 9 years ago. The WHO judged a countrys quality of health on life expectancy. But thats a lousy measure of a health-care system. Many things that cause premature death have nothing do with medical care.

that's pretty much what i just said! Health insurance is very exspensive thus the rich are treated well. before i was laid off ( 9 months ago...) I had great healthcare insurance, paid only 20 bucks a month, bluecross blueshield top of the line plan. 3 weeks later i was told by my boss they were gonna drop me from the plan, was sent alternative options and in order to recieve the same coverage i would have to pay 1000 dollars a month!

Sorry if I misunderstood you, then misquoted you. If there is ANYONE out there that does not think that private health insurance companies are not ripping you off, you live in a cave. The CEO of Blue Cross/Blue Sheild makes $200,000 a DAY while people are dying. As long as their is profit in healthcare insurance NOTHING will change and we will continue to use emergency rooms as our primary care physicians!

i don't think you read a single thing i wrote except that i wasn't pro-government healthcare... the main point i was making is that the lawmaking processes in DC make it impossible for people to even know what they're voting on because bills are too long to read, and are made public too quickly before they're voted on. what you think is healthcare legislation might contain some unrelated article that you'd never support- you can't know unless you read the whole bill, which i doubt anyone will!

I work for a nonprofit hospital that must help anyone who walks in through the ER. As a result they eliminated 330 jobs in the last year to cover the cost of the increasing number of uninsured. So everyones care is effected whether they have insurance or not. We don't have beds for insured and uninsured seperated. You all get the same care but if all we can afford is minimal care than that is what you all get.

Whaste vs Extortion.
Public and private both work. Public care fails when money is whasted on amin (UK), private fails when people are charged $200 for an inhailer which costs $7 i Europe, or 10k to sow your finger back on. Private insurance in the US is not regulated, but run by the people who want to make prophit. "Remember " the banking crisis?. Doctors who work to get rich, isn't a case o healthcosts but healthcare rip off!

If you like your doctor you can keep him... Unless they can't keep you or you can't keep your insurance and are moved to the public option. And all your doctors decisions will be checked by government bureaucrats. (Standing commission?) Everyone wants reforms. Just not obama's!
