It's so true what you say about buying a cheap gun if it's all you can afford; at the very least it will provide piece of mind until you can afford a better one. If your just starting out you can't expect to afford a Dragonslayer sword that costs 15000 Gold pieces. You need to buy a cheap hand axe or dagger and get used to using that for awhile, kill some Goblins or Slimes, and save up your Gold u.ntil you can upgrade
I comment on this just as a suggestion...after watching Hickok45's review on the Bersa Thunder Concealed Carry .380 I went out and shot one. It really is a great gun at a VERY affordable price. I know there will be those who would debate me on knock down power of the .380, but in a save your life situation it is a reliable piece of hardware that many can afford. Just my thoughts!
I really love your videos and have the utmost respect for your info, even though you are very casual. But I really think you should test the $100-$200 pistols. I will be honest, I'm talking about hi-point. I have seen other people test them to prove they are "junk" just to find they are a good option for folks who CANNOT spend 300+. I own a Sig, not cheap. I also own a bursa thunder .380 considered by many to be "junk". I have found it to be more then reliable and very accurate.
I was biting my finger nails when Hickok mentioned cheap firearms.... luckily he wasn't talking about 870's and ruger gp100 and 10 22's or even SKS's or Mosin Nagants.... whew.
I wasn't too worried considering I've seen him shoot everyone of those firearms :)
He doesn't say names but I'm thinking Norinco may have crossed his mind during the show.
p.s. Hickok, love the radio show. I can just put in on ( 1/8 inch to the big speakers ) and wander around tiding up and polishing guns :) love it
Hickok I'm glad you choose not audition for Top Shot. As you well know Top Shot is not a shooting competition as much as it is popularity contest. As far as most serious shooters are concerned Top Shot is a joke.

These internet radio casts are so great. I really enjoyed hearing tn9outdoors on your cast too. The only way this radio cast could be better is if I could listen to this on my radio in my truck...Great job on these casts and I look forward to hearing a lot more. Okay, I take a guess at the gun...a striker fire type gun...may be a Glock with traction tape grips???
my freind asked me wats the most affordable gun out there, and i said simply the mosin nagant those suckers are $100 a rifle or less, surprisenly enough though i dont own one, i own other bolt rifles like a german k98 and lee enfield that are more you can say better quality rifles, not saying that the mosin nagant is a bad gun, just saying theres better guns out there
When I was young and just starting to be able to purchase my own firearms, an older friend of mine told me not to sell or trade off any guns unless you really have to, to get by. No matter what you decide to sell or trade, you will want back in a few years, so just do not do it. To this day, I have not disposed of any of my firearms, except for one that was damaged beyond repair throogh no fault of my own.
I honestly don't think I will ever trade or sell any weapons. I just know I would regret it. And I haven't bought any cheap guns except my first two toys. From here on out it will be high quality weaponry. Like my Kimber. I love it, couldn't get rid of anything like a weapon, it is a part of my history it seems.
Hey Hickok, I liked the show as always and thought that sounded like a Glock, and I will make an educated guess it was a Glock 27!!! Wish me luck, next weekend is my first IDPA match at Bluegrass Sportsman's Club!!!
Funny story. Where I live, the teacher probably would have flipped out and called child services, the police, the governor, the pope, screaming wildly about crazy gun nuts.
Really enjoy these radio broadcasts Hickok! I can actually get work done around the house while listening to what your take is on my favorite topics.. Hope you can keep them up..
I was also thinking Glock. Don't know my Glock models, but I'm guessing the finish on it is black, polymer frame and black steel slide with a steel barrel. It does sound striker fired. I am also going to go out on a limb, and say it has some talon grips on it.
I'm gonna have to guess one of the small guns you've been using lately, a Kel Tec, Kahr, or a S&W.
As for the length of the show, keep it long, make it an hour long. I lift weights while listening to the show. Today the show ended before I finished lifting.
2nd Gen frame, from a department trade-in at only $319.95 each for G-VG condition. We also have some in higher grades, or with 3rd Gen frames, starting at $349.95 each!
You are checking a Glock 27 to ensure that it is empty, dry firing, disassembling, reassembling, and working the action and dry firing after assembly.
Topshot would be a good show if it didn't have the drama, "big brother" etc garbage. I'd rather just see them shoot and not have to watch through what is on their minds, etc. That's just cornball- filler material.
Definitely a polymer striker fired gun, but the classic hollow-rattle dry-fire sounds like a Glock. Did he pull the trigger before disassembly though...I don't think I heard it.
Fun to hear both of you on one show. Very good points on just what will you put your trust in to save your life when everything hits the fan some night. I think some guns I use only for range work to plink for sheer fun, and some I carry to be a responsible shooter ready to save lives when needed including my own. When courting, my wife drove a pick up truck, shot my 39a for 22, and then let her shoot my 410, then she started shooting with the 22 the spent shotgun shells and knocking them in air
Sounds like a Glock. Magazine sounds like plastic on plastic and the trigger sounds very Glock like....now comes the hard part since you own all of them.
Glock 19 or 23......hmm.... Going with the trusty Glock 19. I'll go ahead and say it's a Gen 4.
GREAT info on cheap guns, 1 good quality gun, even an inexpensive gun, is so much better option than a "cheap" firearm. A good used quality firearm will last 'several' life times, be more reliable, safer, and more fun to own.
Definitely an automatic because of the sound of the disassembly. I would say a glock (no idea which model. 19 or 23 maybe?), but it doesn't have the squealing sound of a glock slide; then again I've never noticed that sound on YOUR glocks.
I think the CZ-75 has a better grip and trigger than the Hi-power, not to mention better mag capacity (and looks). The Hi-power is still cool though and is what the 75 is based on. The magazine disconnect just ruins the trigger on them.
Tough gun of the week this time. But I thought I heard you removing and replacing a magazine and a slide, maybe removing a barrel. I'm gonna guess that was a Glock. Of SOME sort.
With age comes wisdom. I truly love these videos/radio shows. To me it is the very best of entertainment! I wait for every upload! Keep it up Hickock, you are a modern visionary...
By the striker dropping and by the disassembly noises, I'll say compact size or subcompact Glock. Plus I think I heard it coming out of a leather holster...
i make minimum wage. im 18 and i saved up for a glock 19. not fun waiting but sooo worth it. by the way hickok45 is the one to be blamed for my purchase! he should be getting paid by them for all the glocks he sells.
my first firearm was a 91/30 mosin nagant for a 100 bucks or so bought it for just the sake of collecting. then i got a used marlin 25n for 200 came with a scope that was zeroed in for i think 15 yards or so i bought it cuz it was affordable and a bolt action 22 is fun to shoot zero complaints about it so far, then i saved up cash for a sig 522 being my introduction to semi autos kinda pricey for 600+ dollars then i bought a armscor m1600 that i regret but being for about 90 bucks oh well.
you want to talk cheap, i got a raven 25acp new otd for 52 bucks an change 25+ years ago. still got it. shoot it a couple times a year, never had a problem with it.
I think it would be nice for you to shoot a few of the $150.00 - $250.00 guns so the people that can't afford a higher priced gun. Keep up the great work.
Hey Hickok45. It sounds like you are talking about the Hi-points when you discuss "cheap" junk guns. Do you intend to acquire some hands on experience with one? I would love to see you present a fair assessment of a C9. The argument about the brand rages on and on much to my amusement. I am a Glock, Sig, and SnW owner and have to say that my C9 probably gets the most range time. We enjoy that pistol. We enjoy your vids, thanks.
As far as the inexpensive firearms, it all comes down to one thing - Research! look into the gun you want to purchase, especially if it is on the lower end of the price range! There are some FANTASTIC firearms out there in the 200-300 dollar range that shoot just as good as other things. The internet is a wonderful resource when used properly and generally you can find out about any gun you are interested in.
My first quality handgun was a second hand S +W Model 10 (which I still own),and I never went back to the cheaper weapons. Bought new grips, cleaned it up and it ran like a champ.I think I paid $350. for the gun.I eventually had the gun reblued and it still is one of my favorite guns in my collection.
Hey Hickok, it would be great if you could bring your radio show to a podcast (iTunes?). I would really love to be able to listen to your show while on the road. Thanks!
many praises on your success!!! great videos and radio. I really liked the last radio comments section where you outlined topics and time stamp. something you might want to consider for all your radio programs. Not that i don't like to listen to you but it allows for selective hearing...You know kind of like when you better half is talking. LOL
Suggestion for radio. I'd like to hear anecdotes about gun phobias. Some relatives of my were so frightened of guns, they would not Touch a gun and didn't want to LOOK at a gun. It gave her the shivers. Lots of gun owners want to show their new gun to others. Usually I sho, magazinw the person where the bullets go, so they can see that the chamber is empty, magazine is empty, etc.
They still won' touch them. You hear the old saw: "Many people were shot with 'empty' guns."
It's so true what you say about buying a cheap gun if it's all you can afford; at the very least it will provide piece of mind until you can afford a better one. If your just starting out you can't expect to afford a Dragonslayer sword that costs 15000 Gold pieces. my first firearm was a 91/30 mosin nagant for a 100 bucks or so bought it for just the sake of collecting. then i got a used marlin 25n for 200 came with a scope that was zeroed in for i think 15 yards or so i bought it cuz it was affordable and a bolt action 22 is fun to shoot zero complaints about it so far, then i saved up cash for a sig 522 being my introduction to semi autos kinda pricey for 600+ dollars then i bought a armscor m1600 that i regret but being for about 90 bucks oh well.

My local gun shop regularly has New glocks on sale for $429
mechanisto1832 1 year ago
@mechanisto1832 I'm in the gun industry and I can assure you that a small local shop cannot sell new glocks for 429 because that is under cost.

@mechanisto1832 i guarantee they are used.

Kel-tek PF9 action of the week.

Probably a Glock. lol

Glock don't ask me what model and Caliber or model. I'd say you field striped it cause I heard the barrel.

Got stories?
