  • Good Job Dexter!

  • @Jimmyjumpnjive Thank you. He does pretty good for an unconventional performance dog.

    Enjoyed your videos.

  • he looks super happy and such focus on you .... good job dexter!!!

  • @elissacline He is a super happy boy Elissa. We took a two month break from Rally due to illness and injury. The break seems to have done him good.

I watched your video on using the target stick for contact heeling. I am going to try that. As you can see in the video Dexter's left hand turns are really sloppy. He tends to move like a windshield wiper. We did allot of stool work which is what I think caused this sweeping action.

  • @JDTKDexter --- he IS super happy : ) just a heads up... the touching my leg is for bite sports (and not heeling in akc - they will take all your points away if he uses your leg as a target for turns!!!! trust me i know from personal experience AND worse yet, once they start targetting it is super fun for them to pivot off your leg - uuugh ) : )

  • @elissacline - Now it makes sense. Bite sport. Is that where one of the exercises is to stand in the basket and have to make the decision on their own when to attack and then go back to the basket? I remember it being called something else but can't recall. Yes, I know about loosing points for touching. That's why I couldn't figure out why you would teach them to touch your leg. I still like your idea of using the target stick to teach rear awareness.
