In my laptop, Vista OS. I used Vista disk manager to create partition and format it and gave it a lable as drive . I can see the partition through Vista, but when I boot to WindowXP CD, I don't see the second partition. Only, I see C: drive. One time I installed XP and wipped off Vista and replaced it with XP. Why I can't see the second partition. I want to install XP with Vista. F.Y.I Vista is per-installed by HP and only I have a recovery DVD. Thanks
i dont think so. some games are better on 7. some looks better on 7 i mean. but older games like dungeon siege, cs 1.6 etc are just working with xp, thats why i use a dual-boot system. it doesnt matter what game, i have the right os for it XDDDD
somethings not right with your PC, i have 3gig ram in mine and its fast as fuck, only stutters when I'm playing music and click about 15 programs to open at same time to check performance. even then it stutters bout twice. strange. 8gig of ram n stuttering.
if you have a Pentium 4 they are known for performance dropping when the chips get too hot, I'm guessing you need a better cooler or some thermal compound on the CPU, or ya ram ain't set up right, it could be a number of things but ide just strip it down n rebuild it, does em good. the main culprit is de fragmenting your hard drive, that usually sorts a slow PC if its basically red.
RAM DOES indeed AFFECT speed by a lot. RAM = How many apps you can open at the same time and how fast. The processor affects this as well. RAM = Speed (Too).
It's indeed helpful. But there are lots of people that think that upgrading from 4GB to 8GB will make a huge difference just because it's double the RAM. The thing is that the extra RAM probably won't be used.
Lol yeah, currently it's not used but I'm sure in the near future OS's will require more and more RAM and so will do some apps. As of for now you're right, the difference from 4 GB's to 8 isn't much, if any. Best you can do to make your PC faster if you already have 4GB's of RAM would be to upgrade the CPU or overclock it.
its so simple to install xp n vista on same PC so when it boots u get a choice to boot xp or vista, all u do is partition your hard drive half n half c:\ and d:\ partitions wile installing xp then install xp on c:\ partition once its all installed and finished just boot with a vista disk in and it will go through the install process, then when asked install vista on d:\ partition when its finished it will reboot and ull see it prompts you to choose xp or vista and ya done, that's basically it
Windows should make a new OS that is realy simple that takes up very little memory on your hard drive for business and dumb people who think vista is to complicated.
4gb not alot thought when you can have all these useful programs . But that all depends if all the programs are nessary to you. If not just stay with one operating system
I was wondering if that really was possible! I'm trying to do that now, but from what I understand if you want to install XP 32-bit on a laptop preinstalled with Vista 64-bit (that is how you did it right?), then you need to somehow get drivers for xp for your sata drive? How'd you do it?
When i run my win xp from the bios and it starts load all the install stuff. It then changes to a black screen with this _ blinking.
after a few seconds, it comes up with an error screen that it tells me to run a thing in the command prompt. I've tried it and it didn't work! Can someone help me to fix this?
Ps: My PC is Dell XPS 420 With pre installed windows vista home premium. And i have a new partition for my disc!
They are only not manufacturing and burning copies of XP CD's. Companies are still allowed to sell any copies they still have, and Microsoft is still providing support for XP until June 2010.
I did the dual boot and some files installed on xp can run on vista and vice versa but Some applications required to installed in each windows like hitman bloodmoney crysis whereas ur readme file and other songs and files will still run and some applications will run too.
I actually don't know if this really is a PROPER dual-boot. When I first installed Windows Vista Home Premium (USING NOW BUT CHANGING TO UBUNTU SOON) I had the option to use both for a day.
if you want better performance i suggest you get a better processor (you will probably have to buy an entire new computer but what do i know? ive never actually bought one..)
do you experience ANY slowdown? because if i do this then buy some games for vista and xp only to find that they dont work fast enough then ill be pissed
i did it, and I only have about a 40gb hard drive! It goes faster than ever! I did that because, some programs I need, don't support windows vista. It comes in handy when a program or device, I can install it on XP, and if it does support Vista, i will install in on that!
could you use the partition created from the windows xp installer setup blue screen to later install vista on? Will raid be no trouble. Excellent now i will be able to play my old windows xp games perfectly and vista nextg gen hardware games like crysis
did you record this with a sock?

dude you need to install XP first, then make the second partition in XP, then, install Vista, Vista will see that you have XP and wont replace it.

You make another Partition on your computer's harddrive, then pop in your Vista (or XP) disc at startup, and install it to the new partition.
