@SuperiorHuns You fucked up cos all you had to do was move the speakers around in yr room & used the options of isolating the 703's on a hefty wooden base or shoved some socks in the bung (my guess was you had a bass boom problem)
I'm loving the cat! Our cat is the same, just snooping around when we bring stuff home. Oh yes, and the B&W's are nice but that kitty thats what its all about for me!
yeah.....i can almost hear the next comment coming from stewbee: "you took what i said out of context".
calling the guy a "sucker" because you think he paid too much, and then rubbing in his face that you only paid $500 for the exact same speakers, while sarcastic, is hardly humorous...it's just mean. By the way, B&W 703's are NOT $500 speakers. The MSRP for a pair of 703's is $3000.
So rather than compliment the guy on his (very nice) system, you resort to questionable humor. Ok...I get it.
@rimbs ....Oh I believe you bro. The system you have is not a system that everyone has! Your system is SWEEEEEET, and I only wish I could afford something like that myself! Anyway, I know you're enjoying it....and I'll bet it ROCKS!!! Damn I wish I was there to hear it!!
What a sucker! You paid way too much!! I got a pair of these for 500 bucks from some guys who work at the speaker warehouse and they had a whole bunch of them in a white van they were trying to unload because their boss had overstocked them. Only 500 bucks for a 5,000 dollar system!! Am I lucky? or what!
@stewbee123 Dude....what is with you??? Why do you feel it necessary to piss on this guy's moment?? Seriously....what is wrong with you??? Yeah sure....you only paid $500 for a pair of speakers that you have no idea where they came from. Yeah....you're lucky all right. I hope you never run into any problems with them.....just try looking for the seller when it's time to honor the warranty. Yeah.....how lucky are you feeling NOW?????
@phantasm1004 I guess my attempt at sarcastic humor was not well received, do a search for "white van speakers" and you'll find a world wide scam going on with guys in white vans selling worthless "high end" speakers for 3-4 hundred bucks. i'm sorry I got you all worked up. These B&W speakers are the real deal, and worth the money.
Very nice system ! Like BassThatHz said, see if you can upgrade to a RB-1080 if you can. The overall sound will benefit a lot, plus, the RB-1080 can be had for a small price in the secondhand market.
I almost bought the same 703's, until I saw an add for secondhand N 804's. Bought the N804 three years ago for 2200 euros, and sold them this year for 1800 (tiny little upgrade to secondhand N802's ! ) The 703's are great speakers, if the upgradeitis has not bit you yet, enjoy them for years !
hey man great video, i vwas just wondering how much the set cost you!! i love these speakers and it is hard to find any where thetll say the price ...
@uri0113 the 703's are no longer manufactured, they're 3K a pair. The rotel CD player, pre amp, power amp and cable cost me another 2K. I got a bit of a deal because I know my local speaker shop guys.

Now I'm very dubious about the reviews I read about hifi racks. I'm sure they make a difference but is it all that much of a difference?
Either way I'd look to upgrade that rack you have the Rotel gear sitting on, just from watching the whole thing wobble @ 1:54 when you pressed the eject button.
I hear the Podium (wooden) rack is one of the best & most expensive ones you can buy. The Atacama modular stands are cheaper but well respected & truly solid (& metal).
Thanks for the kind words, glad you enjoyed it. I just got them set up at a new location with JPS audio speaker cables and a new 50" SAMSUNG Plasma. I'll post the video of that system and setup asap.
They were spiked in that room, but I just finished building my new man cave at a different house. I'll make sure to upload the "making of video" to youtube when I'm done
I know a couple of people who own 703's, one runs nad, and the other has simaudio components. absolutely beautiful speakers. love them. I have a set of 683's and hope someday b&w bring the 7 series back, because I would totally buy a set.
This is a great system. I've owned a pair of 704. It sounds marvelous with McIntosh amps and triodes. Please to check "EL34 Manley Snapper..." to see a strange but unique dutch speakers. Your comments will be very appreciate.
I like B&W sound but only for music but not for Home Theater. I tried going with B&W but it just did not feel right. yes the clarity, transparency and dimensionality was all there but one very important thing that was missing was dynamics. I didn't return the B&W's, I kept them in my listening room aka living room but installed JBL S2C Synthesis in my main theater much more dynamics and still retains audiophile sound to it very impressive.
Really...Bose? The laws of physics are why Bose couldn't even approach these speakers. Opinion has nothing to do with it. Like what you like, but don't make comparisons based on preference.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Dude I'm glad you set a goal and then did it, but you could get the same quality from Bose in something the size of your fist, that's what I got!!!!!!
I totally agree, sound is very much a matter of opinion. However, the quality of workmanship is vastly different between Bose and BW... I'm glad you're happy with your system, but BW is worth the premium price for the quality of sound and longevity.
Take a listen to B&W 800 series at a speaker shop some time. While you're listening, think about the sound from your Bose speakers, I think you'll be surprised.
who needs to go to a concert when you can bring it into your living room! geez, i shouldn't have listened to these, now my polks sound...distorted and flawed lol *sigh*
Rotel and B&W is a match made in heaven. I am sure they sound lovely. Now save up and upgrade to nautlius when you can cause the only possible upgrade i can imagine.
Nice setup sir :). But i sure dont hope your cd player is on top of that amp... :/ Thats dangerous man... Your amp might overheat and your cd players laser can get ruined :O Sry my bad english
A cat and a decent stereo system. Perfect for chilling out. Personally i would have gone for an Arcam system to drive them speakers. Just my opinion..... :)
bose? yeah, sure. Def Tec 7000's up front with a CLR 3000 and (4) BPX's for surrounds/backs, Denon 5308 handling the pre/pro with Adcom taking care of the power duties.
oh, and a SVS Ultra 13 for off the earth low end reproduction and a 60" Kuro handling the vid.
I know, complete garbage...maybe I should post a vid of it and me caressing away.
Eventually I'll construct a music room and integrate some 802 D's, but that's a bit down the road.
I hope he didn't play any of that yuppie boy music, maybe he put in some Joe Walsh, he should wear gloves like a true audiophile when handling new expensive equiptment, but then again these Rotel units are made in China, better go with the new NAD Master Series, wait, those are made in China as well, not Denmark like the old Silver Series units,,damn !
Sweet system, my new system is coming in the next few days. I am getting a Rotel 1560, B&W 683's, and a PV1 subwoofer! The guy said not to go with the 700 series, he said that they almost sound the same as the 600 series, he said the next major step is the 800 series, I can't afford it :( Nice setup anyways!
Man, I'd be keeping that cat the fuck away from those speakers. Speaker covers are like heroin to the junkies that are felines.
I hope you're listening to more than Radiohead on that system, too. I love Radiohead, but they suffer a bit from the English rock habit of compressing the hell out of shit. There's even a version of Nude on YouTube with the clipped peaks restored.
I hope that helps that mastering problems a bit. Trouble is that, some of these albums are mastered for CD first, and then just sent for vinyl pressing, in which case they have to turn then signal down so the needle doesn't jump, but it's already mashed :(
I understand that Radiohead likes a claustrophbic sound, but I think there's better ways of going about it than bricked masters.
Hey Rimbs. I am debating on adding an external amp to tmy Rotel RSX1057 receiver which is 5x75. Either the 1070 with 130 x 2 WPC to power the 704's or the 120 x 5 for the 704 fronts, 705 rears, and htm7 center thoughts? Anyone?
Well just remember that a majority of your sound is going to come out of that center channel, so yeah the htm7 would be great. I'd keep the RSX, get the htm7 and see how the whole system sounds. Don't buy another amp right away, listen first.
nice setup dude speakers are real nice thats what i should be upgrading to as my amp is way too powerful for my 602 s2's. But ive taken a different approach to buying audio gear, ive started at the bottom and worked my way up and its been an amazing journey of sound setup's now i own rare audio kit which amazes anyone who dares listen to it
I would highly recommend the RB-1080 even if you don't blast music it will still sound better. My RB-1091 sounds better than two bi-amped channels from my RMB-1075, even at only 50-60db.
It is a more effortless and natural quality sound.
Hey rimbs, I got a pair of the 704, 705 for surrounds and HTM7. They are runningof a Rotel receiver. I chose to go with the 704 so the front stage would match for DVD's in 5.1. I LOVE this series, very beutiful and priced well. I heard they were going to discontinue due to not making enough $. Must mean they are great bang 4 your buck if that is the case.
I was just looking at a REGA turntable yesterday as a matter of fact. I'm anxious to get new speaker cables as well. I'm going to splurge when I finish closing on my condo.
I fell in love with 703 speakers as well - can't wait to get them home now. But I am finding it really difficult to find suitable receiver or pre+power amp for these which I can afford. What Rotel component models you got here? Thanks.
My last rig consisted of a Rotel RC-1070 preamp and RB-991 amp. I think you made the right decision going with separates instead of the integrated amp.
Nice setup. Great Video. Much of the logic behind my recent B&W 685 purchase was simply because I wanted something better speakers to reproduce my Radiohead albums.

Its funny watching you hug your 703's I did the same thing 6 years ago when I got mine! Did you buy the REGA t/t?
kingofpunk1967 2 years ago
I'm still setting up my system in my new condo, I've yet to buy it. I'll try to post with more stuff when i do.

LOL i kiss my speakers too ,,,,i have Rotel the sound is beautiful ,,,,where is the second part of the video ????

I hope he didn't play any of that yuppie boy music, maybe he put in some Joe Walsh, he should wear gloves like a true audiophile when handling new expensive equiptment, but then again these Rotel units are made in China, better go with the new NAD Master Series, wait, those are made in China as well, not Denmark like the old Silver Series units,,damn !

Nice. Molesting the goods! I do to when I get new toys! You should've seen what I did to my speakers!

I know how you feel when you hugged your new speakers.
You are one lucky man.

A little too much, thankfully I just bought a new place, I'm going to have a separate A/V room that he won't be allowed in.

Well done very nice system
kingofpunk1967 2 years ago
thnx, I just bought a condo. Got a big basement I'm going to finish off, I'll make another video when I set up the 803's there.
rimbs 2 years ago
Man, I'd be keeping that cat the fuck away from those speakers. Speaker covers are like heroin to the junkies that are felines.
I hope you're listening to more than Radiohead on that system, too. I love Radiohead, but they suffer a bit from the English rock habit of compressing the hell out of shit. There's even a version of Nude on YouTube with the clipped peaks restored.
Hzqi 2 years ago
Exactly! (regarding the cat), I cover the speakers with the original boxes when I'm not using them. I don't want my cat to destroy the grills.
And I'm buying a REGA record player and all the radiohead albums when I move into my new place. I'm looking forward to it.
rimbs 2 years ago
Ahh, the lovely loveliness of vinyls, eh?
I hope that helps that mastering problems a bit. Trouble is that, some of these albums are mastered for CD first, and then just sent for vinyl pressing, in which case they have to turn then signal down so the needle doesn't jump, but it's already mashed :(
I understand that Radiohead likes a claustrophbic sound, but I think there's better ways of going about it than bricked masters.
Anyway /ramble.

I figured there's no point in playing them, cuz you're not actually hearing the speakers, you'd be hearing your speakers...

Hey Rimbs. I am debating on adding an external amp to tmy Rotel RSX1057 receiver which is 5x75. Either the 1070 with 130 x 2 WPC to power the 704's or the 120 x 5 for the 704 fronts, 705 rears, and htm7 center thoughts? Anyone?
redminikeith 2 years ago
Well just remember that a majority of your sound is going to come out of that center channel, so yeah the htm7 would be great. I'd keep the RSX, get the htm7 and see how the whole system sounds. Don't buy another amp right away, listen first.

rb 1080 is great i just sold mine:( to make funds for my sub and i regret it big time i hate yamaha sound cant wait to buy a 5channel rotel now
purehardbass 2 years ago
hi,just like to say that rotel amps are the best sounding amps i have ever heard,i used to own the ra-01,with kef speakers
they were awesome but to make it even better i used russ andrews mains upgrades the difference was amazing RFI cancelling filters.they really do work?

Which program of editing have you used for the video?

nice setup dude speakers are real nice thats what i should be upgrading to as my amp is way too powerful for my 602 s2's. But ive taken a different approach to buying audio gear, ive started at the bottom and worked my way up and its been an amazing journey of sound setup's now i own rare audio kit which amazes anyone who dares listen to it

Is the RB-1070 enough for the 703's? I don't blast my music so it might be a good match. What was the deciding factor not to get the RB-1080? Money?
redminikeith 2 years ago
I would highly recommend the RB-1080 even if you don't blast music it will still sound better. My RB-1091 sounds better than two bi-amped channels from my RMB-1075, even at only 50-60db.
It is a more effortless and natural quality sound.

I figured the 1070 had enough power. I was going to go for the integrated, but I changed my mind at the last minute.
rimbs 2 years ago
Hey rimbs, I got a pair of the 704, 705 for surrounds and HTM7. They are runningof a Rotel receiver. I chose to go with the 704 so the front stage would match for DVD's in 5.1. I LOVE this series, very beutiful and priced well. I heard they were going to discontinue due to not making enough $. Must mean they are great bang 4 your buck if that is the case.
redminikeith 2 years ago
They're actually under priced, I got mine right before they went discontinued.
rimbs 2 years ago
That's a nice system you got and I like the way you were kissing your B&Ws. I did the same with my Rare TDL 0.75M speakers.
Are you going to get a turntable next?
olanzip 3 years ago
I was just looking at a REGA turntable yesterday as a matter of fact. I'm anxious to get new speaker cables as well. I'm going to splurge when I finish closing on my condo.
rimbs 3 years ago
Sure ok, I hear people say the Regas are good. And also you should try Michell turntables too. Their decks sound nice.
I have a syncro.
olanzip 3 years ago
I fell in love with 703 speakers as well - can't wait to get them home now. But I am finding it really difficult to find suitable receiver or pre+power amp for these which I can afford. What Rotel component models you got here? Thanks.
tictactoe1234 3 years ago
My power amp is a Rotel RB-1070,
my pre-amp is a Rotel RC-1070,
and my CD player is a Rotel RCD-1072.
rimbs 3 years ago
Forgot to ask what song is this?
My last rig consisted of a Rotel RC-1070 preamp and RB-991 amp. I think you made the right decision going with separates instead of the integrated amp.

It off of "in rainbows", I'm not sure which track. Thanks, I'm happy with it.

Lovin the video man and great system choice. Hope you enjoy it for years to come.

Nice setup. Great Video. Much of the logic behind my recent B&W 685 purchase was simply because I wanted something better speakers to reproduce my Radiohead albums.
amitubal 3 years ago
Oooo, that makes me want to get the 'in rainbows' album. I'm adding that to my list of stuff to buy.
